Chapter 156 Drug
Luca's tone softened a bit: "Fine, but after you say it, don't bother me and Olivia anymore."
Windy quickly agreed, a flash of meanness in her eyes: "There's a coffee shop up ahead. Let's go there to talk. Too many people here."
Luca didn't think twice. He drove and parked at the coffee shop door. They sat by the window. Windy ordered first: "One latte, one iced Americano."
While waiting, she kept crying about her tough years and her deep feelings, looking really pitiful. Luca stayed patient and dealt with it.
Soon the drinks came. Windy pushed the iced Americano to Luca: "Have a drink. You look tired."
Luca had been busy with the studio lately and hadn't slept much. He picked up the cup and took a big gulp. The bitter taste woke him up a little.
But a few minutes later, something felt wrong. Heat surged up from inside him. His body started burning, his head got dizzy, and his vision blurred.
His heart sank. He looked sharply at Windy. The sadness was gone from her face, replaced by a sure-win smile.
"What did you put in the coffee?" Luca's voice was hoarse. His body was getting harder to control.
Windy leaned close with a flirty smile: "Luca, I just want to have your baby and stay by your side. You forced me to do this."
She reached out to touch his face. Luca shoved her away hard: "Get lost!"
He tried to stand, but his body was limp with no strength. The drug hit faster than he expected.
Windy saw this and pounced, grabbing his arm and pressing her body against him: "Luca, give in. Let's have a baby. I'll treat you way better than Olivia—a hundred times better."
Luca's mind was fading. The heat made him almost lose control. He even saw Olivia's figure in front of him.
No! Can't betray Olivia! Can't let Windy win!
With his last bit of willpower, he pushed Windy away hard. She lost her balance, fell to the floor, and let out a yelp.
Luca staggered to his feet, holding the table, and shuffled to the door. Each step felt like walking on cotton. He could fall any second.
"Luca! Don't go!" Windy got up to chase him, but stopped when he glared back. The cold hate in his eyes made her freeze.
Luca gritted his teeth and rushed out of the coffee shop. He leaned on a tree by the road, panting hard. He pulled out his phone, fingers shaking, found Olivia's number, and called.
When she picked up, her voice was like a lifeline. Hoarsely, he said: "Olivia... I'm... at the coffee shop downstairs from the company... come quick..."
After that, he couldn't hold on. He leaned against the tree as his mind went into total chaos. His only clear thought was to find Olivia and see her.
In the coffee shop, Windy stared at Luca's back in shock as he disappeared. She pulled out her phone and called her mom, Patricia.
Meanwhile, Olivia was near the company with Leo when she got Luca's call.
Hearing his weak, hoarse voice and the address made her heart sink. A bad feeling hit her: "Luca? What's wrong? What happened?"
No answer—just heavy breathing—then the call dropped.
Olivia's heart tightened. She told Leo right away, "Baby, we're going somewhere now. Uncle LO's in trouble."
Leo sensed it too and nodded fast: "Okay, Mom. Let's go save Uncle LO quick!"
Olivia started the car and sped to the address. Her mind was a mess of panic. What happened to Luca? Why did he sound like that?
Ten minutes later, she pulled up to the coffee shop and saw Luca leaning on the tree.
His face was flushed, forehead covered in cold sweat, eyes glazed. He looked really bad.
"Luca!" Olivia parked fast, grabbed Leo, and ran over.
Luca heard her and slowly looked up. Seeing her, he gave a weak smile, then his body went limp, and he fell toward her.
Olivia caught him. His skin was burning hot, like a bad fever.
"Luca! What's wrong? What happened?" Olivia asked, worry growing.
Leo tugged Luca's shirt and whispered: "Uncle LO, you okay?"
Luca leaned into Olivia's arms. His mind cleared a little. He grabbed her hand and begged: "Olivia... take me away... from here..."
Seeing his pain, Olivia helped him to the car: "Okay, we'll go. Home first."
She struggled to get him in the back seat and lay him down. She had Leo sit beside him to watch, then drove home.
On the way, Olivia kept checking the mirror. Luca's eyes were closed, brows furrowed tight, face still awful. He groaned now and then, in real pain.
She was full of questions and worry. Who did this to him? Who did he meet?
But now wasn't the time to ask. Get him home first, then find out.
Back at the neighborhood, she parked and tried to help him out, but he was too heavy.
Just then, Luca woke up a bit. He sat up on his own, leaning on the door, panting: "I... I can walk."
He held the door and got out slowly, steps wobbly. Olivia grabbed his arm and walked him to the building step by step.
Leo followed, tugging Luca's shirt now and then: "Uncle LO, careful."
They finally got him inside. Olivia put him on the sofa and turned for water, but he grabbed her hand.
He opened his eyes, gaze blurry with some deep feeling, staring at her: "Olivia... don't leave me..."
Olivia's heart skipped. Looking at him, she felt mixed up. She tried to pull free, but he held tight. She said helplessly, "I'm not going. Just getting water."
Luca let go and leaned back, eyes closed.
Olivia brought warm water and held it to his mouth: "Drink up."
He opened his eyes, drank a few sips from her hand, and breathed easier.
"What happened? Who did you see? Why are you like this?" Olivia asked.
Luca's eyes darkened. Thinking of Windy's tricks and his near mistake filled him with guilt and anger.
He took a deep breath and said hoarsely: "I... went to see Windy... She brought up the life debt from back then. I wanted to end it for good, but... she put something in my coffee..."
