Chapter 104 Want a Dad
"Sweetie," Olivia hugged him, her voice a bit choked. "When you grow up, Mommy will tell you about your dad, okay?"
Leo nodded and snuggled into her arms. "Mommy, I feel like Jason is just like a dad. He's so nice to me. Can Jason take me to kindergarten tomorrow?"
Olivia felt a warmth in her heart, tinged with sadness. "Okay, I'll ask Jason tomorrow."
She knew Leo really liked Jason, and Jason was indeed very good to both of them. But for Jason, she only felt gratitude, not love.
Right now, she just wanted to take good care of Leo and focus on her career. As for love, she didn't dare to hope for it anymore.
Thinking of Luca, Olivia felt a wave of irritation. She really didn't want any connection with that man ever again.
Meanwhile, Luca returned to his villa and sat on the sofa, holding the investigation report his assistant had sent him.
It stated that the neighborhood Olivia had mentioned had no record of her living there, and that, recently, she and Jason weren't living together either.
A cold smirk appeared on Luca's lips.
As expected, she was lying.
What was she hiding? Why didn't she dare let him know where she lived?
And today, when she went to the golf course, was it really just to be Clara's practice partner?
Luca picked up his phone and dialed Clara's number.
"Clara, good evening."
"Luca? What's up so late?" Clara's voice carried a hint of surprise.
"Nothing much, just wanted to ask you something. What was Olivia really there for when she came to see you today?" Luca got straight to the point.
Clara paused for a moment, then laughed. "You're calling me this late just to ask about this?"
"Sort of," Luca replied calmly.
"Well, it's nothing big. She wanted me to invest in her design company," Clara didn't hide it. "I think she's quite talented, but I still need to test her a bit more."
Luca understood. So, it was about investment.
He knew it. Olivia wouldn't just go to be a practice partner for no reason. With her personality, she never gave up until she got what she wanted.
"If that's the case, why don't I discuss a partnership with you instead?" Luca suddenly suggested.
"You?" Clara said in surprise. "Why are you suddenly interested in partnering with me?"
"No particular reason. I just think your project has potential, and I also appreciate Olivia's talent. I want to help her out," Luca said casually.
In his mind, he had a plan. If he partnered with Clara, he'd have a legitimate reason to see Olivia again.
Clara laughed. "Alright then, let's talk details at the office tomorrow."
"No problem." Luca hung up the phone, a smug smile curling on his lips as he thought, Olivia, let's see how you avoid me this time.
The next morning, Olivia made breakfast for Leo, dropped him off at kindergarten, and then headed straight to Clara's company.
She had to seize this chance to secure Clara's investment.
At the company, the receptionist greeted her right away. "Miss Ross, Clara asked you to wait for her in the meeting room on the third floor."
"Okay, thank you." Olivia nodded and took the elevator to the third floor.
Following a staff member to the meeting room door, she heard some noise inside. Thinking it was Clara, Olivia pushed the door open and walked in.
But when she saw who was inside, she froze, her steps halting.
It was Luca!
He was dressed in a black suit, leaning back in his chair. When he saw her come in, a playful smile tugged at his lips.
Olivia's heart sank, and she turned to leave.
She never expected Luca to be here!
"What? You see me and want to run?" Luca's voice carried a hint of mockery.
Olivia stopped in her tracks, took a deep breath, and turned around, her tone icy. "Why are you here?"
"Why can't I be here?" Luca stood up and walked toward her step by step. "I'm here to discuss a partnership with Clara. But you—did you already know I was here and come in on purpose?"
"Don't flatter yourself!" Olivia trembled with anger. "I'm here to see Clara. How would I know you'd be here?"
"See Clara?" Luca sneered. "Aren't you just here to ask her for investment? Why not ask me?"
"Ask you?" Olivia scoffed. "We have nothing to do with each other anymore. Why would I ask you?"
"Why?" Luca suddenly stepped forward, grabbed her wrist, and pinned her against the wall in a dominating pose. "Because I'm the president of Vettel Group, because I can give you the investment you want, and because you were once my wife!"
His warm breath brushed against Olivia's face, making her shiver; her heart filled with disgust. "Luca, let go of me!"
"Let go of you?" Luca's gaze lingered on her face, his eyes intense. "It's been five years, and you've gotten bolder. You dared to lie to me and give a fake address?"
Olivia's heart skipped a beat. He found out?
"I didn't lie to you!" she said, forcing herself to stay calm.
"You didn't?" Luca's hand suddenly touched the corner of her lips, his fingertips gently brushing over a small cut. "Then how did you get this injury? Did you bump into something, or did I do this when I kissed you?"
Olivia's face flushed red with embarrassment and anger. "Luca, you're shameless!"
"Shameless?" Luca chuckled, his voice low and hoarse. "I can be even more shameless. Want to try?"
His hand slid down from her cheek to her waist, tightening his grip. "Did you think I forgot? There's no part of your body I haven't seen. Back then, in my arms, you..."
"Enough!" Olivia cut him off sharply, her eyes red with tears. "Luca, don't go too far! We're divorced. If you keep this up, I'll call the police!"
"Call the police?" Luca raised an eyebrow. "Do you think the police will care about matters between a husband and wife?"
"We're not husband and wife!" Olivia shouted.
She was on the verge of losing it. How could this man be so overbearing and unreasonable?
Luca looked at her teary eyes, feeling a pang in his heart, but he hardened himself and said, "Whether you admit it or not, you're my woman. If you want investment, you can only come to me. Whatever others can give you, I can give you—and more."
"I don't need it!" Olivia struggled to push him away. "Even if I ask someone else, I won't ask you!"
"Really?" Luca's gaze turned cold. "Then try it. Without my approval, let's see who dares to invest in you."
His words carried a heavy threat, and Olivia felt a wave of despair.
She knew Luca meant what he said. With his power, stopping her from getting an investment would be a piece of cake.
Just as they were at a standstill, there was a knock on the door.
"Come in," Luca said, his voice calm again as he let go of Olivia.
Olivia quickly broke free, stepping back a few paces, fixing her clothes, her face still flushed.
The door opened, and Clara walked in. Seeing the two of them standing together, she looked surprised. "What's going on here?"
