Chapter 54: Information given
Together Nate and Charlotte relaxed allowing their bodies to calm before moving to clean themselves up before moving down stairs.
Looking down at Charlotte before opening the door Nate asked, "You okay?"
This made a smile come to her face as she nodded her head confirming that she was in fact just fine.
Standing on her toes and placing one hand on his shoulder for balance, she placed a sweet kiss on his cheek.
Blushing, Nate opened the door stepping out into the hallway first. Once he verified the safety of the hall, he allowed her to exit and led her down the stairs to the diningroom.
All the guys were seated waiting for her arrival. They all stood when she approached. Pulling her seat out for her, Nate then took his place beside her.
"We will all stay here for now, you will not be able to return to school anytime soon.", Bull stated clearly.
Alan looked at Bull while widening his eyes attempting to show Bull that he could have been more tactful with his delivery of this news.
Seth and Grayson seeing the exchange between the two then added, "We have notified the Professors and you will not miss anything. At this point it is follow up on the subjects more than anything." Seth then turned to Grayson whom added, "The Midterms will be instruction driven therefore you will be able to follow along."
"As for the classes, I have set up remote access so that you may be able to see each class as they happen and be part of them.", Axel followed up. "The piano in the study will be able to be used for your Music Class as well."
Alan then smiled at Charlotte while reassuring, "This is only temporary. We hope to neutralize the threat quickly so you may return to University."
"We only want to keep you safe.", Bull said in his deep voice. The regret that he felt could be heard.
Charotte smiled at each of them, "It is okay guys. I understand and to tell you the truth I have been missing home."
All the guys visibly relaxed feeling relieved that she was not sad.
Once the conversation had been completed, dinner began being served.
As dinner arrived, Charlotte became more and more happy and made tiny claps with her hands. "It is italian!!!"
The guys smiled, they always appreciated how happy food made her.
For desert we will have Tiramisu.", Alan said proudly. He knew full well how much she loved it.
Plates were made and food eaten with efficiency. All satisfied, desert then came out. All savored the tasty treat.
Across town a very different conversation was underway. Yibo and Jeh were discussing the state of everything along with how it had come to this.
"You know I would not do anything to place her in danger, Jeh.", Yibo stated with sadness in his voice. "This is my error. I allowed my judgement to be clouded by the prospect of our children being together." Standing in front of the large office window he ran his hand through his hair in desperation.
The silence from the other end of the line kept everything frozen in discomfort.
"I was unable to tell Evan whom she is. I should have set up further security. I did not think anything like this would happen. Honestly, Jeh. I will find who is responsible. I will. The example made of them will ensure that this will never happen again..............Are you there?"
Hearing movement on the other end of the phone, Yibo waited patiently.
"She is all I have left of her Mother.", Jeh said calmly. "I know you would never put her in harms way on purpose."
The phone fell into silence once more while Jeh considered his words carefully.
"They won't be able to see each other for a while. This is a threat that I had not prepared for properly.", Jeh said directly.
With disappointment in his heart Yibo replied, "I understand."
"You are my best friend. I know you, Yibo.", Jeh said quietly.
"Thanks, Jeh. I will keep you informed of any developments on my end.", Yibo stated as he released the breath he did not know he had been holding.
The call ended just as Evan stepped into the office.
"Any news?", Evan asked.
Looking at the phone in his hand, Yibo realized that Evan assumed he was on the phone with one of his men. At that very moment, Yibo's phone began to ring. Answering the line, the person on the other end had important news. "Be there in ten.", he answered then quickly disconnected.
Grabbing his jacket off the back of his chair, he headed to the door with haste. Seeing this Evan followed him with urgency.
Instead of heading down the elevator, they headed to the roof where the chopper was awaiting their arrival.
Stepping into the chopper it pulled from the roof immediately headed to the destination of the caller.
Ten minutes later the chopper landed at a remote location of a large field area with a tall warehouse in the distance. Stepping out, they swifly made it across the field into the warehouse clearly guarded by their men.
The warehouse shown to be dark inside initally, however light could be seen coming from below a door at the far end of the hallway. Continuing down the hall to the door, they entered without stopping.
In the center of the room sat a woman tied to a chair. The hate in her eyes burned like the fire of many suns. Her hair stuck to the side of her face. The hairstyle that she originally had now could not be seen at all. Her makeup smeared as the heat from the lights caused her to sweat uncovering her natural tone in her skin. The side of her mouth had blood dried on the edge and her cheek swollen from interrogation. The white suit that she wore, now had dirt smeared all over it. The fact that she must have struggled had been made clear visually.
At the entry to the room, the main guard approached Yibo with the update.
"This is her. She is the one that made the calls and texts to the two in the morgue. She is not the head of the attack, however she made all of the arrangements.", then he bowed his head respectfully and continued. "She has not told us whom she works for."
Yibo grunted his understanding of the situation and stepped forward toward the woman to get a good look at her.
The woman smiled a half grin at Yibo as the distain shown in her eyes. "Having some trouble lately?", she said with the evil grin as she turned and spit the blood from her mouth onto the floor. No fear shown in her eyes nor any regret.
Evan clinched his jaw as he gazed upon this wretched woman with anger building inside of him.
Yibo being more experienced did not let her question alter his attitude at all. "Do we know each other?"
The woman rolled her eyes laughing with sarcasm. "I wouldn't expect you to remember me.", she said. The grin never leaving her face as she looked over at Evan to witness his anger.
Turning her head back to Yibo and spitting again.
Yibo's eyes then turned dark with murderous intent as he returned a smile to her that did not reach his eyes.
Her body began to shake with fear she had not felt before. The anger and violence his aura radiated caused an involuntary shudder.
The gleaming light off of his teeth as he smiled his disturbing smile made her shrink into the chair. He seemed to grow ever bigger as stalked closer to her. Turning his head oddly to the side he spoke through his teeth, "You're Charlie's girl."
The woman gasped as she looked back at him. "How......how could you know that?", she said with confusion on her face as the panic started to set in.
"He doesn't know anything. Don't hurt him.", she said with desperation.
Yibo bent at the waist coming ever closer to her face as his smile never faded, "It isn't fun when someone who is unrelated to our world gets pulled in, huh."
Glancing around the room looking for someone to be on her side, she found no one.
"You should feel what we have felt. Don't you think that is only fair?", he said as he began to walk away from her.
Her facade of strength dropped immediately as panic set in, "Wait! Wait, PLEASE!!! I will tell you everything! Everything! WAIT!"
Yibo stopped in his tracks and stood for a long moment before turning back to face her. Holding up one finger he stated clearly, "You get one chance. Only one! If you lie to me, we will do exactly to Charlie what you tried to execute on our friend without hesitation."
She began to cry as she nodded her head in agreement.
