Chapter 21: Come to My Room Tonight
Why was she here?
Jessica was stunned and her eyes widened, the arrogant words she had said in front of Jennifer echoed in her ears so clearly.
She was now flustered and scared, with only one thought in her mind, she must not lose no matter what.
Especially not to Jennifer.
Jessica stared at the gate of the Whitfield villa with a fierce look, her whole being like a machine generating resentment.
Her aura was terrifyingly depressed.
She didn't even notice when Michael left.
…
After a harmonious afternoon together, in the evening, Jennifer lay on the bed tossing and turning after coaxing William to sleep.
After moving to a new place, she had trouble falling asleep.
After a while, Jennifer got up and felt thirsty.
She quietly went downstairs.
She thought that everyone was asleep, but she was surprised to find the living room on the first floor brightly lit.
"Mr. Whitfield? You're still awake?"
"Feeling unwell?"
Jennifer saw Michael leaning on the sofa, holding his head with one hand, and he seemed to be in pain.
Michael rubbed his temples, frowned, and looked at Jennifer, "You're not sleeping?"
"I'm not quite used to the new environment, so I came down for some water."
Jennifer explained truthfully, knowing that Michael must have misunderstood her again, thinking she was deliberately getting close to him.
Michael waved his hand to indicate that she should deal with it herself, but his face looked even worse than before.
Jennifer, feeling somewhat worried, went to drink some water. After finishing, she turned to go upstairs, but halfway there she couldn't bear to leave Michael alone. She turned back.
"Mr. Whitfield, do you have a headache?"
Jennifer's voice was soft, mixed with concern, even the most irritable person couldn't be harsh to her.
Michael, who rarely talked about his health, looked at Jennifer in surprise, "The same old problem, and I get a headache."
With a busy workload and a tendency to suffer from insomnia, he had developed headaches.
In recent days, dealing with William's consecutive emotional outbursts cost him a lot of energy, and today the headache had flared up.
But hearing Jennifer's gentle concern, it seemed like all his temper had disappeared, which was strange.
Feeling unsure, Jennifer nervously tugged at the edge of her clothes, slightly embarrassed as she spoke, "I've learned some massage techniques, maybe I can help you massage a bit to relieve your headache."
Jennifer was afraid that Michael would suspect she was up to something, so she licked her lips nervously, awkwardly smiling.
Under the warm light, her face was soft and tender, with a bright and sincere look in her eyes.
For some reason, he felt that he was defiling her purity by suspecting Jennifer of having some ulterior motive.
But when it came to William, he had to be cautious.
If she made any dishonest move, he would kick her out tonight.
However, deep down, he still wanted to see what skills Jennifer had.
Nodding, he said, "You can try."
"Mr. Whitfield, you'd better lie down."
He was tall, making it a bit awkward for Jennifer.
"Okay." Michael cooperated by lying down, with the scent of roses lingering around his nose as if it had a relaxing effect.
Suddenly, he felt a tingling sensation on his scalp as soft and strong hands massaged his head, alleviating his headache by half.
Michael could imagine Jennifer's slender fingers weaving through his thick hair.
It felt as if a rainbow suddenly appeared in the sky covered with dark clouds, bringing a sense of relief.
His head didn't hurt at all, and drowsiness quickly took over.
Jennifer seemed to have a special kind of magic.
Before Michael could delve deeper into it, he fell sound asleep.
Seeing this, Jennifer covered him with a blanket and returned to her room.
The next morning.
Jennifer entered William's room, "William, it's time to get up."
Though William had slept exceptionally well that night, he still complained, "You sneaked away last night."
They couldn't sleep together.
Jennifer smiled, not bothering William, "Let's go to have breakfast."
It wasn't until they arrived at the restaurant that Jennifer took a closer look at Michael. His demeanor was still impeccable, but his profound eyes seemed to be shining today, as if there was a mysterious treasure chest inside that was fascinating.
His imposing and majestic presence made her admire him even more.
Jennifer couldn't help but blush and shift her thoughts. She asked, "Mr. Whitfield, is your headache better? How did you sleep last night?"
"Better."
Michael replied. In his mind, last night was the best night of sleep he had in the past five years.
Jennifer was indeed somewhat special.
But then, thinking about waking up on the sofa, Michael looked at Jennifer disapprovingly, "Come to my room tonight."
...
Jennifer was shocked by this statement, coughing continuously as the food was stuck in her throat and couldn't go down.
William quickly handed over the water, "Auntie, drink some water."
...
Jennifer gratefully looked at William and quickly drank the water.
Her face turned red from being choked, and she looked blankly at Michael, "Come to my room tonight?"
What did he want to do?
Jennifer was a bit wary.
Michael looked at her rosy face with smiling in his eyes, holding the water glass and shaking it. He looked at Jennifer with a seemingly smiling gaze, "What are you thinking?"
Seeing Michael's teasing gaze, Jennifer blushed even more, "It's you who made an ambiguous statement."
Michael snorted, "I just wanted you to massage."
His statement was ambiguous.*
Jennifer immediately became serious and said, "This seems to be a chronic issue for you. Simple massages may not be able to cure it, and you may need acupuncture treatment."
"You know acupuncture?"
Michael looked inquisitive, as her profile did not mention that she knew these techniques.
Avoiding his gaze, Jennifer casually replied, "As a qualified home tutor, I naturally need to know more."
Michael narrowed his eyes and made a mental note, "Let's start the treatment tonight."
"Ok." Jennifer indicated no problem and then took out her prepared plan, "I have already made a schedule for William's lessons, and can you take a look to see if it's okay?"
"Stick to the schedule you've prepared first, and make adjustments based on the situation."
"Okay."
After breakfast, Jennifer took William to class.
Today was the first day, and of course, Michael was there too.
He quietly handled the documents on the side, occasionally lifting his head to look at Jennifer and William.
Writing, drawing, reading, exercising together...
Sometimes focused, laughing heartily, and sometimes discussing, their occasional expressions even had a hint of similarity.
Michael looked at it and unintentionally lost focus. It was nice.
Just then, Jennifer's phone rang.
...
It was the agency from the previous interview calling. Jennifer asked William to read by himself, and she got up to answer the phone.
"Hello?"
As soon as she answered the phone, a jealous voice from Jessica came out of the receiver. "Jennifer, you're amazing. You think you can ignore my words just because you've been hired by the Whitfield family?"
Jennifer frowned, feeling very annoyed by Jessica's intrusive tone. Jennifer asked, "What do you want to say?"
Jessica snorted with contempt, speaking slowly, "Get out of the Whitfield family immediately, and from now on, you are not allowed to go near Michael and William. Otherwise, I'll give you some trouble."
Every word was filled with jealousy and resentment.
Jessica truly wanted to utterly defeat Jennifer to ease the hatred in her heart.
Upon hearing this, Jennifer was anxious, and then her heart started pounding irregularly, feeling like something was stuck in her throat making it hard to breathe and her eyes burn.
Holding the phone tightly, her hand clenched so hard that the veins on the back of her hand showed.
The Whitfield family? Mr. Whitfield?
