"I'm going to marry her" Luke said, the news she was waiting for, it was no rumor.
"Congratulations Luke" She said forcing her lips to part into a smile.
"I came here to get your permission" he said, shattering her on the inside.
"If I refuse you what would you do?"
"I'll suffer along side you, I would walk with you to eternal damnation" Luke replied softly like he would kill to keep this promise.
"I am happy Luke" she said.
"Then why do you look like you are not?" he asked in a raspy voice.
"Because.." She thought for a while.
"Just because"
"Do you permit me to leave you" his voice wavered, she smiled sadly before giving a nod in agreement.
"Don't say it like that Luke, you are making it sound like I'm losing you"
"You are not gone from me, our love will exist in our memories" She continued.
"Let's get married Diane, be my second wife, yes you are right she lives in my mind but it's only an attraction, you are the one I love, the one I exist for" Luke blurred out as he reached for her hands, joining his head with hers.
"You'll be my Luna, like we have always wished"
"Do you hear yourself Luke?" Diane asked with a wavering voice as tiny tears formed in her eyes, she could see how much he loved her and it hurt.
"I felt enticed for a second" she chuckled sadly as her eyes twinkle in the nightlight.
"Werewolves as monogamists, we look up to the moon goddess to provide us a mate, I could never commit this sin to your mate Luke and let's say I do, I'll only be a second wife, there will only be one Luna and it won't be me, slowly the attraction you feel for her will turn to love and your love for me into hate, I wouldn't be able to bear that Luke, if I say I did not wish for this I'd be a liar, because you are the only man that I have lived Loving, I'd rather die than watch you suffer, I sometimes wonder how I managed to survive watching you cry on the Late Alpha's grave.."
"I could never hate you Diane" Luke crashed in.
"I rather our love create a home in our memories than any other thing that could threaten it, please Luke, what I am doing will preserve our love story but what you are trying to do.." She searched his eyes.
".. will end it"
"On that day I will be the one to stand beside you till I'm told to move away and you are joined with her, this is how far my love goes" she deviated.
"I hear she is beautiful" Diane smiled as she walked over to her beside, Luke trailing behind her.
"She does not compare to you my love" Luke said and Diane chuckled stretching on the bed.
"Is mom aware of your presence?" She asked and he nodded surprising her.
"Really?"
"Before we are lovers D, we are best friends"
"Sing me to sleep, for the last time before you are not allowed to anymore, before your beautiful voice belong to another"
She begged.
"I will sing for no one else other than you, I will love no one else other than you, I promise" He said making her gasp for breath.
"Do not make promises you can't fulfill" she smiled.
"Oh I plan on fulfilling this one" he kissed her sending shockwaves to her.
"For the last time" He said with raspy breath and they kissed again, for a seemingly endless while before she fell asleep and he took his leave.
The Alpha's open announcement of his new mate left the pack with bubbling excitement, as for the wedding preparations, the marriage ceremony was to be held without any undue pre-wedding ceremony, just the engagement then the wedding proper, the other rituals and ceremony would be held post the wedding.
The night of the engagement came and the entire pack was in attendance, Diane was also present, dressed in a milky silk gown with a beautiful slit running from her hips down to the end of her dress, her makeup was subtle yet it screamed out how beautiful she was, she stole the heart of men as she walked past them seeking Luke to congratulate him. The nostalgia the procession of the ceremony gave her was one in likeness to how she felt getting engaged, the only difference was that this time she was among the crowd offering her support to the new couples. Once she got to where Luke and his bride were being congratulated she hugged him with a smile on her face.
"Congratulation Luke" she whispered then loosen him from her grips, she then turned to Rose and offered her the present she held in her hand.
"You truly are beautiful" she said with a smile but Rose did not respond her instead she had this indescribable look on her face.
"Oh my manners, I forgot to introduce myself, I'm Lee Diane" she smiled thinking Rose's reaction was because she had not introduced herself, little did she know that Rose had grown hatred for her ever since the first time Luke rejected her.
"I know who you are, the entire pack does" Rose replied coldly, something both Luke and Diane could not help noticing, she quickly excuse herself from them.
Luke and rose exchanged momentary glances at themselves before one of the decided to speak up.
"She probably feel strange around me" Diane smiled trying not to feel offended.
They spent the rest of the night talking, discussing about the weding that would be held the next week, afterwards Luke drove her home, spitting both the public and his wife to be.
The rest of the week passed by with tiny rumors circulating around the Alpha and his ex-fiancee, but that did not cause any major issue or threat to the Alpha's wedding.
The day of the wedding came and just as she had promised, she was there standing right beside him, handing him out to another woman. Her heart shattered in a thousand pieces as she stood there staring at the man she loved taking vows with another woman, she couldn't watch it to the end, she couldn't bear to, she did not have the courage to stand there and watch the man she had loved for eight years belong to another, she retracted, slowly, away from it all, away from the wedding ceremony, away from the Alpha's residence, she was not in her senses anymore, she was shattered, she did not notice that had starting running, that she had gone past her family villa, she kept pushing forward.
The crescent moon had set itself in the night sky by the time she had reached the Red moon garden just in front of the borderline, her usual stop, but that night was different, she plunged further into the forest, till she was right in front of the borderline.
She stood there emptily, emotion void on the face, unable to say a thing, unable to cry, just there shattered.
The leaves had started to rustle uncontrollably but she was yet to notice, she was too lost in her thoughts to realize the grave aura around her, she was about to hit the ground when a gust of wind pushed and pinned her to a huge tree behind her.
She shut her eyes tightly as her back hit the tree in a loud thud, she was terrified, the aura whatever was pinning her to the tree had was extraordinary.
'This Wolf' she thought.
'This is no ordinary wolf, this is no Beta'
'He had to be..'
"Who are you" a cold voice asked cutting through her thought.
She slowly opened her eyes.
A sudden attraction to the creature in front of her started to develop.
He wore a mask that hid his facial features, the only thing she could see was his platinum hair that provided a clear contrast with his mist green eyes that looked almost ethereal.
She felt a sudden pang of pain in her chest as realization hit her.
She had been lost so in thought once again when she felt his claws, fangs and canine grow out, she shivered on the inside.
"Please don't kill me"
