Chapter 69: Elicit a Smile from Jennifer

Chapter 69: Elicit a Smile from Jennifer

Jennifer's eyes lit up - this was a great idea. Having Sandra join would ease her financial pressure, and with Sandra's connections and experience in the design industry over the years, it would be easier to expand their client base. More importantly, Jennifer and Sandra knew each other well and trusted each other's character. When choosing a business partner, mutual trust was the most important thing - otherwise, when things got tough, you'd worry about your partner betraying you. She reached out her hand to Sandra, "Here's to a great partnership."

The two hit it off immediately and settled on the investment shares right away. Jennifer would invest three million dollars for half the shares; Sandra would invest two million dollars, but she would handle daily operations and client sourcing, with major decisions made jointly. They talked until their food went cold, and the waiter came to remind them that the restaurant was closing. Sandra took Jennifer's hand and said, "It's late today, let's schedule another time to discuss more. I'll hand in my resignation tomorrow."

Jennifer smiled, "Congratulations, you'll soon be promoted from director to general manager."

"Congratulations to you, too, Jennifer."

When Jennifer got home, Francis had already been sitting on the couch for a while. This was the first time Jennifer had come home so late. Francis paused while flipping through a magazine and took the initiative to ask, "Why are you back so late? Did the preliminary round go smoothly?"

Jennifer sat in the entryway, changing into slippers, rubbing her ankles. "Pretty smoothly. I ran into Sandra today, who used to look after me a lot, so I took her to dinner and lost track of time." She poured herself a glass of water and sat on the single sofa beside Francis, her expression serious. "There's something I need to tell you. I'm planning to partner with someone to open an independent design studio."

Francis raised an eyebrow at her, asking with interest, "Is this person male or female? Do I know them?"

"You probably don't know her - it's Sandra, the one I just mentioned." Jennifer took a sip of water, watching Francis's expression. She couldn't tell if he was happy or unhappy, only that he had shaved and looked much better than yesterday.

"Okay." Francis crooked his finger, "Come here, I have something to tell you, too."

Jennifer licked the water from her lips and slowly got up to sit beside him. He put his arm around her and kissed the top of her head. Her hair gave off a light fragrance. "I thought after last night, we'd made up. Why are you sitting so far away?"

Jennifer gently pushed him, "I'm talking to you about something serious."

Francis spread his hands, "Didn't you just finish? You want to open a studio, I have no problem with it. Do you need me to invest?"

Jennifer shook her head, "No need, my dad gave me some money." She and Francis would break up someday, and if the studio used his investment, it would be hard to settle accounts when that day came. Of course, she wouldn't say this out loud to avoid making him angry.

Francis didn't care either way. He handed Jennifer the magazine he'd been flipping through, his tone casual. "This is the latest season's clothing and jewelry. Pick out a few things you like."

Jennifer flipped through it - the clothing and jewelry in the magazine cost anywhere from millions to tens of millions of dollars, dazzling her eyes. She said tactfully, "I think jewelry doesn't have to be luxurious, just suitable. Are there any important occasions coming up that I need to attend?"

Francis's lips curved up, "Don't try to save me money, just pick whatever. To make you smile, I'm willing to pay." He lifted Jennifer's chin with a playful manner. Actually, he wanted to make it up to her for neglecting her recently. He hoped their time together would be relaxed and pleasant - spending tens of millions of dollars for that was nothing.

Jennifer smiled with pursed lips. As a jewelry designer, if she said she didn't like various styles of precious jewelry, that would definitely be a lie. She seriously looked through the catalog and finally chose a set of jewelry designed by Ryan and several dresses. Francis took photos of everything she picked and sent them to his secretary, telling him to buy and deliver them.

Then he carried Jennifer into the bathroom. His illness was completely gone - it was time to make up for all the times they hadn't made love these past days. For adults, making love was a great way to deepen their relationship. Under his deep, repeated thrusts, Jennifer traced his deep eyes and once again let herself sink into it. She thought that, while they were together, she should cherish these pleasures and not think about the eventual separation. Gradually, Jennifer's responses became bolder and more passionate, making Francis even more excited. He used up an entire box of condoms, and Jennifer was almost exhausted to the point of passing out.

The next day, Jennifer woke up covered in bruises again. Francis had already changed and was ready to go out. He kissed her and said, "You worked hard last night, you can sleep a bit more."

Jennifer lightly bit his lip, acting cute. "Why is it that after making love, you're refreshed and I'm exhausted like I've been beaten up?"

Francis laughed, his chest shaking. "You could be like me and spend an hour or two working out every day."

Jennifer cupped her face and started seriously considering - maybe she should find herself a fitness trainer. Good health was needed for a successful business; otherwise, how could she work late nights? Seeing her serious expression, Francis flicked her forehead. "What are you thinking about so seriously? I need to go now. Aren't you forgetting something?"

Jennifer wrapped her arms around his neck to kiss him. The thin blanket slipped down, revealing her smooth, slender collarbone and a bit of her chest. Francis's breath caught, and he pulled her closer, deepening the kiss. His breathing grew heavier as he whispered in her ear, "If I didn't have a meeting this morning, I wouldn't want to let you go."

Jennifer laughed proudly. Usually, it was Francis who teased and flirted with her - she rarely got the upper hand like this. But Jennifer knew when to stop. She straightened his wrinkled collar and said, "You're insatiable. Go to work, I'll wait for you at home."

"Okay." Francis looked at her like he wanted to devour her, tugging at his tie. Coming home from work to find such a gentle, beautiful woman waiting for him - this feeling was really nice.

After Francis left, Jennifer slept a bit more before getting up. She was eating breakfast when Francis called her on video. He pointed at several car photos and asked, "If you were driving yourself, which one would you like?"

Jennifer casually pointed at the pink Panamera, "This one, the color is really nice." The cars Francis showed her were all luxury sports cars worth around 200,000 dollars - the performance differences weren't huge, so naturally she chose the best-looking one.

Francis looked up at someone else and said, "Casey, buy this one, fully loaded."

"Wait!" Jennifer suddenly realized, "You're buying me a car? You don't need to, you've already given me so many gifts."

Francis's tone was firm, "Aren't you starting your own business? When you're in business, you need to drive a good car - it's a status symbol."

Well, Jennifer admitted he was right. She could only smile and express her thanks. Francis paid extra, and by afternoon, the new car keys were delivered to Jennifer. Looking at the beautiful new car, Jennifer was very happy. She took it for a spin. Too bad Mia wasn't back yet; otherwise, she could share this joy with Mia.
