Chapter 11 Refusal

Chapter 11 Refusal

Jennifer's breath caught in her throat.

She had made up her mind to hook up with him, yet a few flirtatious remarks still managed to unsettle her. She took a deep breath. "Dr. Carter, as long as you're willing to save my dad, I'll do whatever you want."

Francis scoffed. "Do I look like the kind of doctor who'd use a patient's life to get a woman into bed?"

"No, Dr. Carter, you're very charming. I'm willing," Jennifer quickly explained, blushing as she realized what she'd just said.

Luckily, the traffic started moving again. Francis slowly accelerated and then took a right turn onto a side street, parking the car. Jennifer's heart began racing again.

Francis parked the car and smiled at her. "Ms. Brown, since you're being so forward, why don't you come over here?" He patted his thigh. Jennifer blushed deeply but obediently unbuckled her seatbelt and clumsily crawled over.

Even though Francis had reclined his seat, the space was still tight, and she ended up half-lying on his chest, looking up at him with wide eyes. He wrapped one arm around her waist and used his other hand to hold the back of her head as he kissed her.

The kiss was intense and passionate, and Jennifer could feel Francis's cock growing underneath her. She herself was starting to feel hot.

This time, Jennifer was fully aware. She had never known she could make such lewd moaning sounds.

When she was with Eugene, she was always shy, even during sex, trying hard not to make any noise and never using her tongue while kissing. Eugene had always respected her boundaries, which was why she had trusted him so much.

Francis was completely different. He didn't ask for her consent but instead kissed her forcefully until she was breathless and dizzy. It was a mix of fear and excitement.

In the enclosed car, the sound of their lips and tongues entwining was amplified, and the scent of their arousal grew stronger. Suddenly, Francis's eyes cleared. He didn't want to have sex in the car; it was too unsanitary. He pressed his forehead against Jennifer's and said in a husky voice, "Hey, search for the nearest five-star hotel."

Jennifer, confused, realized he was talking to the car's voice assistant when it started giving directions, not to her.

Francis chuckled and selected the first hotel recommended. Jennifer could feel the vibrations from his chest; he seemed to be in a good mood.

She softly spoke against his chest, "Dr. Carter, about my father." She trusted that he would keep his promise.

Francis cut her off, pushing her slightly. "Jennifer, you're killing the mood." Bringing up conditions while making love was a turn-off for him.

Seeing his anger, Jennifer nervously kissed him and awkwardly licked his lips with her tongue. But Francis turned his head to look out the window, making the situation even more awkward. He rolled down the window, letting the cool rain calm him down. "Forget it, I'll take you home."

Jennifer moved back to the passenger seat, taking a moment to gather her thoughts before saying, "I didn't mean it like that. I'm just really worried about my dad." She realized she shouldn't have brought up her request so hastily.

As they neared her home, Jennifer made one last attempt. "Dr. Carter, could I get your contact information?"

"No," Francis replied bluntly.

After parking the car, Francis pulled out a business card from the glove compartment and handed it to her. "You can contact Dr. Guest. He's the head of surgery at our hospital and very experienced."

Jennifer took the card, still looking hesitant.

Francis raised an eyebrow. "Ms. Brown, are you still trying to trade your body with me? Some men might pay a high price for your body, but clearly, I'm not one of them."

Francis's words were harsh, and Jennifer angrily pushed open the car door to get out.

Watching the car drive away, Jennifer gave a self-deprecating smile. The rain fell on her bare arms, cold, but not as cold as her heart. Even after lowering her dignity, she couldn't get his personal help. Now, she could only hope Dr. Thaddeus Guest could save David's life.

When Jennifer got home, Marlowe immediately wrapped her in a towel, fussing over her. "It's raining, why didn't you use an umbrella? Your dad is already in the hospital, you can't afford to get sick too."

Seeing Jennifer's dejected face, Marlowe cautiously asked, "Didn't you see Dr. Carter, or did he turn you down?"

Jennifer nodded, then quickly shook her head, her voice hoarse. "I saw him, he turned me down."

Marlowe looked disappointed but quickly showed concern. "Your throat is hoarse. I'll have the maid make some chicken soup. Don't worry too much about your dad's illness; it might be benign and not that serious."

After drinking the chicken soup, Marlowe urged Jennifer to take a hot shower. While drying her hair, Jennifer remembered to text Mia that she was home. Mia called immediately, asking how things went with Francis. Jennifer, though embarrassed, briefly described what happened in the car.

Mia sighed. "You two were making out, and Francis still managed to bring you home. Is he impotent or something?"

Jennifer replied, "I'm the one asking for his help. He really doesn't have to be a gentleman to me."

"Jennifer, you're too nice. But I think Francis likes you. If it didn't work this time, try again. I don't believe he can resist every time!"

Jennifer wanted to say that Francis was only interested in her body and that this interest might not last, but she didn't want to seem too pathetic in front of her friend.

They chatted for a while until Jennifer's mind grew foggy, and she hung up. She quickly dried her hair and fell into bed. She had a meeting with the lawyer about the company tomorrow.
