Chapter 14 Punishments & Benefits
Raina hadn’t meant to spy on Kian and Mia. The Luna suite overlooked the gardens. She hadn’t expected to see Kian and Mia to walk to the back area where a small pond was. Although, she knew that area, because she had often seen Kian and Mia sneak away to it, she hadn’t expected them to do it this late afternoon.
She wasn’t surprised when she heard a door open and close. No, she wasn’t even surprised when she heard footsteps in Kian’s suite that got closer until they reached the bedroom. She was sitting crosslegged on the bed with only a robe on after soaking in a hot bath, eating her very cold breakfast. She had grabbed the tray from Kian’s bedroom. She glanced up at him as he entered.
A look of amusement crossed his face when he discovered her.
“You’re just eating that now?” he chuckled. A smile tipped the corners of his mouth.
She shrugged. “I was too lazy to go to the kitchens.”
“You could’ve ordered something,” he reminded her.
Her eyes flicked to his in shock. “Sasha would murder me.”
He bit his bottom lip and she was certain he was holding back a laugh. She drank her cold tea. The orange juice wasn’t the best when it had been out all day, but cold tea wasn’t too bad. She had already ate most of the eggs and pancakes. She had already devoured the buttered toast with a bit of strawberry jam.
She had planning to check to see if Poppy was manning the surveillance cameras tonight and figured she would join her to pass time. She may have hoped to be out before Kian returned to his suite for the night, but here he was after she had spied on him and Mia’s little chat. He and Mia had caught her, looking down at them in the garden.
The look in his eyes when he looked up at her told her that he would be visiting her soon. There was no point in running. He would’ve figured out where she was and hunt her down. It would’ve only prolonged the inevitable.
“You can be honest with me,” she finally said, pushing away the tray of mostly eaten food. “Have you decided to take back Mia?” He opened his mouth to say something, but she rambled on as if he had already confirmed that he had. “Since you decided to move all my stuff in here, you have to arrange for it to be put back in my old room.”
Something dark flashed in his eyes and she swallowed at the swift change in his demeanor. “You’re where you’re supposed to be,” he told her to her surprise. She swallowed as heat crept up her body with the way he was observing her. The way his eyes licked up her body like tendrils of flames hoping to catch dry wood and go up in a blaze. “But I have made a decision about something…”
Her heart raced in her chest when he approached the bed almost as he was hunting her even though she hadn’t moved. It became harder to breathe.
“Which would be…”
“I keep telling you to trust me,” he reminded her. She watched him grab the tray and place it on the nightstand by the bed. “And you keep doubting me.” His eyes met hers and pinned her in place as if he waiting for a fight. She opened her mouth to deny him, but she realized he was right. “What was it that you said at the meeting? Oh, right, you said, ‘I don't question my Alpha's judgments. I was chosen by him to be his Beta and if this is a task he believes I'm capable of handling then it will be done’. You said those exact words, isn’t that right?”
She nodded her head slowly as he once again approached the bed. The way he was looking at her was doing things to her. When he grabbed her legs then dragged her to the edge of the bed, she gasped at the abrupt swift action.
“Kian,” she murmured as his eyes continued to burn into hers.
He licked his lips. “I think you need to be punished.”
“Punished?”
“M’hm, every single time you question my judgment,” he tossed her words back at her as his hands brushed the outside of her legs, sending tingles throughout her body. She squirmed, shivering at his attention as his hands continued to meander and caress a tantalizing path. “Because I also believe you’re fully capable of handling each task I give you.”
“But-But that was about…” she trailed off.
He gave her a look. “About what?” He chuckled, shaking his head. “Becoming my Luna?”
His fingers toyed with the edge of her robe, the only material shielding him from both his touch and eyes. She bit her lips when he slowly nudged her legs apart. Her robe slowly loosening at his movements.
“Since you’ve chosen to become my Luna in every sense of the word, you receive other benefits,” he told her as he gently tugged the lapels of the robe fully apart.
“Benefits?” she panted out as his eyes focused on that exposed feminine part he was now well acquainted with.
He nodded. His eyes darkened and she saw the dark promise in them. “And punishments,” he added as he slowly sank down to his knees on the ground in front of her and the bed. “Nothing is going to happen with Mia, but every time you question me about it, I’ll punish you accordingly for not trusting me.”
“How?”
Why had she just asked that? She immediately wished she could take that one little word back, but it was too late. She found herself on her back with her thighs pushed fully apart. Kian’s strong hands kept them wide open while he dove between them. His mouth and tongue feasted on her and her body already sensitive from last night easily was consumed in flames.
She whispered his name in breathy pleas of mercy, bucking against his mouth, but he only secured her more firmly in place. His mouth sucked on her nub and teased it with the tip of his tongue until that tongue of his dipped inside her folds.
This was her punishment… to be flayed by his mouth and tongue, struggling not to scream out his name. This was what he reduced her to as she struggled desperately to hold to her sanity, but he was driving her too quickly to the edge.
It wasn’t even fair how easily he made her burn for him. It took him one look and his touch was her heaven and hell. With his pleasure fueling hers, she was being driven insane. There was no way around it. She was going to lose this battle, not that she ever believed she would win it.
As she shattered for him and because of him while the sunlight still streamed through the windows on the wooden floorboards of her Luna suite, she realized that she had no strategy to guard her body, heart, mind, and soul from this wolf. He had always been her downfall and her ruin. Now he was making the entire pack house know he was as she begged for mercy, christening the pristine duvet of her new bed.
Her fingers curled in the fabric and his hands continued to anchor her in place. No, there would be no mercy for her and it was quite obvious he wasn’t done punishing her.
He was called away after. Even though her body screamed for more, she knew that her body wasn’t quite ready for more quite yet. She had jumped into the shower and desperately tried to yet again wash away the humiliating evidence of how much her body relentlessly craved him.
She had quickly dressed and rushed out of her Luna suite as if she was afraid he’d return too quickly. It had been the first time out since last night and she could feel eyes on her as she walked through the hallways. She rounded the corner and ran straight into Sebastian. The way his eyes met her and that smirk that slashed across his lips made her want to punch him.
“Don’t,” she warned.
He chuckled, putting his hands up. “Wouldn’t dream of it.” He crossed his arms then as his eyes surveyed the hallway. There were more than a few people other than them. It was almost like he was watching over her. “Where are you headed off to?”
“Don’t do that either,” she growled, knowing exactly what was going on. “I don’t need a body guard.”
She walked by him and started towards the surveillance headquarters. She had already checked in with Poppy and she knew she was manning the night shift.
“I find that rather insulting,” he told her as he easily kept pace with her. “A lot of people like my company.”
She rolled her eyes. “Then go bug them.”
“But I thoroughly enjoy bugging you the most.”
She came to an abrupt stop and turned to him. Her eyes met his and his eyes widened in shock. For a moment, she swore he lowered his head just a fraction. He took a step back, shaking his head as if he was trying to clear it.
“Fine,” he muttered, panting slightly. “Just let me escort you to wherever you’re going and I’ll let Kian know that he should talk to you about that.”
She sighed knowing he was going to follow anyway so she didn’t bother to trying to stop him. She and Kian were definitely going to talk about this. She was perfectly capable of taking care of herself. Sebastian knew it too even Kian. She stormed off with Sebastian hot on heels until she reached the entrance to the surveillance department and she glared at Sebastian.
“I’m going to make it hell for you and anybody else who feels like tailing me everywhere I go,” she threatened. Her eyes flashed and Sebastian sighed.
“Raina, you need to stop thinking only as a Beta,” he reminded her. His tone was soft and understanding. “You’re his chosen Luna now. This changes things. You’re going to be protected and guarded, because you’ve become an Alpha’s most valuable treasure.”
She shook her head. “He just needs an heir and a temporary Luna.”
“Keep telling yourself that,” he teased, chuckling at that. “There is nothing temporary about your role.” She opened her mouth to protest, but he put his hands up in surrender. “I’ll still let Kian know, but don’t expect him to give in to it.”
With that, he walked off, heading off elsewhere. She took a deep breath before she entered the surveillance department. She nodded to Viktor who nodded back and she quickly made her way to Poppy’s office. She walked in, already knowing Poppy had seen the entire interaction with Sebastian.
“He’s not wrong,” Poppy told her as she dropped down next to her.
She gave her a look. “Not you too.”
“You’re no longer his Beta anymore, Rain. You’re his Luna-to-be.” Poppy’s eyes darted to the screens before her eyes returned to her. “Most people are happy he chose you, but there is a powerful group of people that aren’t happy.”
Raina already knew. The Elder Council was split down the middle, judging by what she had witnessed during the meeting and Mia’s sudden appearance after a few years away. She knew it wasn’t some random coincidence. The Elder Council backed Mia as Kian’s rightful Luna, probably even the ones that were fine with Kian choosing her as his Luna.
“I don’t know why he doesn’t just chose Mia,” she finally whispered, glancing over at Poppy, who raised her eyebrows in disbelief.
She snorted. “Are you really going to let her try to get her claws and teeth back in Kian?” She whistled at that. “I thought with all that screaming and moaning you did all last night that your mind would’ve changed by now. What? Was he awful?”
“What? Kian?” Raina asked,
“No, Rain, the other guy you slept with all night, making you scream his name,” she teased. A sly smirk was a slash across her mouth.
She flushed. “He… He was…”
“And you want to give that up?” Poppy asked. No, of course she didn’t. Poppy chuckled. “Then stop accepting the narrative that Mia is the best candidate to being his Luna. How about you prove to everyone that Kian was right about choosing you as his Luna? Because I can’t imagine sleeping with my fated mate and not fighting tooth and nail for him.”
