Chapter 9: Chapter Nine
Cirdan:
I watched Iris and the lower classmate whom the soul sisters sent to intercept Iris, I really needed to do something about those three brats, it was no longer amusing watching their efforts in the way they were trying to undermine my orders and protection right in my presence, they were trying my boundaries. I knew that was why they sent the girl after Iris while she was within my full view. They wanted to see if I will be quiet about it all and I was not.
I slammed my hand on the table as I glared at the girl while my mind came up with different ways to kill the soul sisters.
Iris smiled at me before going back to her table, I was totally eavesdropping on her conversation with Finn, I needed to issue a warning especially for Finn. He should not put ideas in her head. She was still fighting the attraction and I could sense her growing discomfort; we would have to end this no touching rule sooner rather than later.
“Congratulations.” Teachers swarmed me, all speaking at once and my blood grew cold when I realized that the news was out. My father had tried to keep it under wraps as much as possible to avoid this and instead it blew up in public, in a place I certainly didn’t want it to. I looked over to Iris to see her shrinking into herself. And I knew that what was going through her mind was how she could entertain such thoughts about me.
Damn! This just caused the one step Iris had taken forward to turn to three steps backward and there was nothing I could do about it yet.
“Can I have some time to myself please.” I ordered harshly. I hated the crowding on a normal day, and this was way worse. The teachers seemed to realize where they were and who they were trying to suffocate with their presence and they apologized while shifting back, when I stared at them with my eye brows raised, they started to give an excuse and left just the way I wanted them to and after they had left, I turned to face Iris, taking a step towards her direction. I didn’t have to be in her mind to know the direction it took when she heard the news, I hated that direction and I wanted to change it and now was the only time I did have to change it.
“Congratulations.” A warm body threw itself at me, hugging me and going against all the rules that I had set up for everybody since the beginning of school.
When she kissed my cheek, I forced her arms away from restricting me and drew my head back to see Viana, the head of soul sisters. People who have been tormenting my mate.
Oh, hell no!
“What the hell do you think you are doing?” My voice whipped out, very harsh that others stopped to look at the cause of my ire.
“Err, congratulating you?” Viana replied in an obvious tone, the thing was she totally had the benefit of the doubt to pull the stunt she is trying to do right now since our fathers were kind of friends and they have been hoping that we end up as mates, Viana shares the same hope as them and had never wasted any opportunity to touch. If the mate bond did not activate when I turned sixteen and she hugged me then proceeded to practically sit on me throughout my party and it did not activate when she kissed me and almost raped me on her sixteenth birthday, I wonder why she still held on to the hope that I am for her.
“Thanks, but no thanks, I don’t want you anywhere near me?” I barked at her, knowing fully well that this was medicine after death, the worst thing I could do right now was to turn and gauge what Iris's expression is, if I do that. Protection or not, Viana would go after Iris with everything she has, and I will be too late to protect my mate.
“Funny, you never had a problem with it before today.” Viana rolled her eyes, brushing off my words of rebuked, she moved to touch me again, but I growled at her.
“Touch me once more and I will have to defend myself against you. I have had it with you. I have always had a problem with it, and I have tried to let you off easily, but you never listened.” I gripped her by her shoulders, my hold was bruising, and I was one step away from trying to shake some sense into her.
“I have touched you a lot of times and nothing changed, I will never be your mate, you have to let go of that silly dream and stop causing stress for me.”
“Cirdan…” she said softly. Tears filled her eyes, but I was not moved. People like her take pride in changing the minds of people to do their bidding, and they would employ everything in their arsenal including tears.
“That would be the last time you touch me without my expressed permission, you do so again, and I will retaliate in ways that would make this seem like a walk in the fucking park,” I warned as I turned to my table and packed my things hastily into my bag and stormed off, taking the exit that was closest to Iris seat in a bid to see her before leaving, even if it was for just a micro second. When I got closer, I glance there only to see her seat empty, and my heart was pained for a second. When did she leave, did she witness the scolding I gave or only the hug.
This waiting game with Iris was getting on my nerves.
*******************
I am slowly changing my mind, maybe Iris is not a changeling but rather she is the child of a member of the Wild Hunt, that would explain a lot of things including her lack of knowledge in things of this world. The wild hunt members usually are not bothered with much education of their wards, and they were only concerned with their extra damning ways and their nomadic lifestyle.
What they do teach their children though is how to be elusive and escape from dangerous situations. Maybe Iris did not consider a snake in her room as dangerous as being in the same room with me any more than she has to. She had found ways and places to hide from me and I was slowly losing hope of reaching her.
And I was getting desperate, she was the last one to enter the class and the first to leave and the teachers are okay with her actions even though I had complained about it. now I am planning on holding the entire class hostage just to get her to talk to me and I planned on doing it today, Saturday was class free, and I did not want to spend another weekend without her and I was so over trying to act like I was not chasing her when that’s all I really am doing.
Ten minutes before classes are over for this week, I watched her as she eyed the door, biting her lips. I had to time it correctly, standing up before she did and moving to the door very fast.
A knocking sound and the principal entered, looking flushed. “Pardon me for interrupting your class but I would need to borrow one of your students.’ The principal stuttered pout to the teacher, I was not the only one surprised. He was never out of his depths, and he looked like it was not only thrown out of his field, but he was suffocating in the new place he was in too.
“Is everything alright?” The teacher asked concerned. The principal waved her concern away as he nodded at Iris.
“Iristendale,” He called, and Iris's head jerked up. That was the first time we were hearing anything other than her name Iris. “Your mother is waiting for you.”
I watched as Iris's eyes widened in shock. She stood up quickly as murmurs started, For Iris's parent to be in school, everybody wanted to know who she was.
“I am on my way.” Iris rushed out.
“No need darling.” A female voice that is oddly familiar said as she appeared inside the room. “I came for you dear, come to mother.” She stretched her arms out for a hug.
The whispers increased as my classmates came to the same conclusion that I did.
Iris or rather Iristendale is the Light Fae Queen heir apparent.
