Chapter 20: CHAPTER: 20

Brother Ven is a good man and he is nanny Silva’s friend. That is why I need to be gentle on him even though he is losing my patience because he is asking a lot of things. I made him coffee again so that once he regained consciousness he had a coffee to drink.

I am sitting in front of him and waiting for him to wake-up and once he wakes-up. I will offer him coffee so I will not be harsh on him before showing him Belinda. The true reason why I need him here.

After a moment of waiting. He wakes-up and he looks dismayed, maybe because he is thinking that this all just his dream but it is not.

“Hi” I greeted him with a smile because I am so happy to see him awake now.

“I made you coffee,” I said and offered him the coffee.

“I want to go home now, Helena” He said that makes me sad

“But this is your home” I told him, waiting for his reaction. He just sighs and looks at me.

“I am sorry but this is your home now” I told him. When I suddenly remember about Belinda. That is why I feel excited and I hold his hand even though I know he doesn't want to. I pulled him to the backyard to show Belinda’s grave to him. Even though I know he wants to refuse. I suddenly became excited to show him Belinda’s grave in the backyard.

“Look at this” I said while showing him the grave.

“She is my dad’s mistress who killed my nanny Silva” I told him and he is not answering.

“And now I made the mistake of letting her enter heaven” I added and I looked at him.

“Helena, please,” He said but I didn't want to listen to what he wanted to say.

“Look at her. She doesn't deserve to be in heaven” I said while digging on her grave. Because I want to show him how ugly Belinda is right now.

“Helena” He called me but I continued digging.

“Helena, please” He begged and wiped my dirty hands.

“You don’t need to do that,” He said. He looks into my eyes and his stare touches my soul that draws connection.

“I will help you Helena, You need help” He said that made me smile and hug him. Finally he is ready to help me. Finally he already understands and accepts everything that I am telling him.

After a few moments. Echo went to the backyard just to inform me that there’s a police officer outside looking for me. “Quick! we need to hide, ``he said.

That is why I pulled Brother Ven and we immediately went inside the house. I hid Brother Ven inside my parent’s room and I told him to be quiet or else the police would kill him if they found him.. I put him inside the cabinet and covered him with clothes and mama’s bag. I need to face the police officer outside and ask them what they want. I grabbed the pen and hid it inside my pocket just in case the police would take me. I went outside and opened the gate to face the police officers.

“Yes?’ I asked the two of them

“Are you Helena Santiago? They asked me

“Yes” I answered.

They showed me a piece of paper and they told me it is my arrest warrant and I have a right to remain silent because everything that I will say can be used against me. There are two police officers who are looking for me.

“That is impossible?” I asked. I cannot believe what they are showing me.

“You need to go with us, ma’am” The police officer told me but I didn't like it. That is why I stab the other officer on his legs with the pen that I am holding inside my pocket and I run.

“Aaahhh!” He shouted in pain. I ran and I went inside the house and hid inside my room as fast as I could. I know they will look for me. I heard one of the officers radio the others. He describes me and he tells me where my location is, my address. Soon they will be here and I need to do something so that they will not get me and Echo caught. I heard their footsteps and I saw Echo signaling me not to make noise.

“There are eight bodies here in the dining room” I heard one of the officers say while still looking for us.

“They are already in the decomposition stage” He added

“I found two dead bodies buried here sir,” One of the officers in the backyard said.

“Two?” I asked Echo. I didn’t kill Brother Ven and I didn’t bury Brother Mike. As far as I know I only buried Belinda. So who is the other one?

“There are ten dead bodies all in all sir”

I count them all but they are not ten. They are only nine. So who is the tenth one? I heard footsteps getting inside the room and still I can see Echo telling me not to make noise. I don’t know if they already found Brother Ven but I am scared now. I hear the sound of the door opening and one of the police officers went inside the room where we are hiding.

“Aaahhh!” Echo shouted, then I heard a gunshot and I saw Echo fall on the floor. He ran to the officer to fight them just to save me.

“No”

I went out from where I was hiding and “Ahhh!” I screamed. I ran to the officer and he shot me. The police officer that I stabbed. Shot me.

AFTER A FEW SECONDS

I woke up dizzy and groggy from the gunshot that I had. It is still painful. My eyesight was blurry and I saw Brother Ven and he was talking to the policeman. Good thing that he is alive and the police didn’t hurt him. I looked around even though I couldn't see them clearly. They are bringing them one by one. First they bring daddy, second they bring mama out then followed by the girls, and then John and Carmen and the last one is Mike. They bring Belinda out too from the grave and are followed by the man that I can’t see clearly who he is. I tried to stand up to see clearly who is the man next to Belinda but I couldn't move. Definitely it is not Echo. I can feel that Echo is still alive. I looked around to find him but I couldn't see him around.

Until a woman wearing white went to me. She is holding an injection and she injected it to me. I tried to move but I couldn't move until my eyesight became totally blurry and I fell asleep.
