Chapter 316

Amelia was lost in her thoughts when she suddenly whipped around.

A man dressed in black stepped out of the shadows.

The knife in his hand glinted ominously under the streetlight, making the scene even more terrifying.

In that moment, time seemed to slow down for Amelia as she watched the knife coming toward her face.

She felt completely helpless, frozen with fear.

It was like she was stuck in place, and by the time she thought to raise her hand to block the attack, it was too late.

Finley was leaning against a streetlamp, pulling out a half-empty pack of cigarettes, when he heard a scream cut through the night.

He turned and saw Amelia being attacked by a guy with a twisted expression.

The knife slashed across Amelia, causing her to fall backward onto the steps behind her, wincing in pain.

But the guy wasn't stopping. He raised the knife again, clearly intent on finishing her off. Finley didn't know what kind of deep-seated hatred could make him target a girl like this. But Finley knew that if he didn't act fast, Amelia's life would be in serious danger.

Instinct kicked in, and Finley rushed forward with desperate urgency, praying that Amelia would be okay.

Otherwise, Henry would surely lose it and do something crazy.

Luckily, someone else got to Amelia first.

A figure punched the attacker in the face, and the two men quickly started grappling.

Finley hurried over to help Amelia up, checking her injuries.

In a stroke of luck, the attacker seemed inexperienced and scared, causing the knife to miss its mark slightly.

And Alexander had arrived just in time.

Amelia had a deep gash on her arm, but no other injuries.

However, she was severely shaken, which is understandable.

Walking down the street only to have a madman jump out and try to kill you would terrify anyone.

Amelia felt her heart pounding in her chest as she looked at the man who had saved her. She wanted to thank him properly.

But when their eyes met, she was stunned. "Alexander! What are you doing here?"

Alexander instinctively clutched his chest and staggered back a few steps. The intense struggle had been too much for his frail body.

His breath came in heavy gasps as he tried to reach out in a futile attempt to console Amelia.

His injured arm, still in a cast, made it hard to move.

He managed an awkward wave, his voice strained but gentle. "Amelia, I'm just glad you're safe."

Amelia didn't respond, her eyes wide as she stared at his arm.

The knife had slashed Alexander's wrist, and blood trickled steadily down, forming small crimson pools on the ground.

The cut was dangerously close to a major artery, and Amelia gasped in terror. "Your hand! You need to go to the hospital!"

Her whole body was trembling with fear. Alexander's right hand was already damaged, and another injury could be catastrophic. And with so much blood, what if something went wrong?

Alexander forced a smile. "It's nothing, just a small cut. Remember when I used to get hurt all the time racing?"

Amelia remembered all too well. She had been by his side, patching him up after every scrape and bruise. But now...

Trying to distract her from her rising panic, Alexander changed the subject. "Do you know this guy? Why did he attack you?"

Amelia looked at the man who had nearly killed her, searching her memory for any hint of recognition, but his face was a complete blank.

Under Finley and Alexander's expectant gazes, she shook her head helplessly. "I don't know him at all. I've never seen him before."

She then anxiously looked at Finley, relieved to see he wasn't hurt. Otherwise, she wouldn't know how to explain it to the Brooks family.

The man on the ground was still struggling, hatred blazing from his eyes as he glared at Amelia with murderous intent.

Finley, annoyed, bellowed angrily and landed several punches until the man collapsed into unconsciousness under the forceful blows.

Amelia panicked. They hadn't gotten any useful information from him yet. She kicked him, waking him up with a jolt.

"I've never seen you before, and I've never wronged you. Why are you doing this?"

The thought of the earlier attack made her terrified. If Finley and Alexander hadn't been there, she might not have survived.

The man on the ground sneered, unfazed by their questioning. He spat disdainfully, locking his jaw to keep any words firmly sealed within.

Finley, observing the man's weakened state and glassy eyes with a practiced gaze honed from years abroad, frowned deeply. "He's probably a drug addict."

Amelia was shocked, unable to understand how she had gotten involved with such a dangerous person.

A crowd quickly gathered, and hotel staff rushed out. "Ms. Wilson! Let's get your wound treated!"

Amelia pointed to Alexander. "I'm fine, it's just a scratch. Help him first! He's bleeding badly!"

"Check her wound first! She's a girl, and a scar could ruin her life!"

For once, they both agreed on something.

Though Alexander's injury appeared superficial at first glance, the relentless flow of blood pooled alarmingly on the floor beneath him, eliciting gasps from the onlookers.

Swiftly but gently, the hotel staff attended to Alexander's wound with trained efficiency.

Amelia was relatively fortunate; her clothes had absorbed some of the impact, so the cut wasn't too deep. Yet her concern was focused on Alexander.

It wasn't out of lingering affection, but because of Scarlett's temperament. If anything happened to Alexander, Scarlett would undoubtedly blame Amelia.

The ambulance arrived quickly, taking control of the chaotic scene and transporting everyone.

Amelia's wound only required a simple bandage, but Alexander, having lost a lot of blood, looked pale and dazed.

A pang of guilt struck Amelia. She knew she owed Alexander her gratitude for saving her, regardless of their past. But her mind was a mess, and all she could do was stare blankly at the flurry of activity around her.
