Chapter 35 Aria First Day As Luna
Chapter 35 - Aria’s First Day as Luna
The morning sunlight spilled into the room, warm and golden, catching on the soft folds of my dress. Today was different. Today, I was no longer just Aria, the girl who had once been ignored, pushed aside, or feared. Today, I was the Luna. The first time I truly felt the weight of that title pressed against my shoulders. My heart raced, a mixture of excitement and fear.
I glanced around the room. The ceremonial clothes I had prepared the night before lay neatly folded, each piece carefully chosen not just for beauty but for authority. Being Luna wasn’t about looking pretty—it was about presence, strength, and command. I took a deep breath and smoothed my hands over the fabric. I could do this. I had to do this.
Aiden stood by the window, his dark eyes fixed on me. For a moment, he didn’t speak, just watched. There was a teasing curl on his lips, one that always made my stomach flutter.
“You’re thinking too hard,” he said softly, stepping closer. “Relax. Today, you’re going to show them exactly why you’re mine. Your strength, your grace… everything they need to see.”
I swallowed, feeling the warmth of his hand brush against mine. “I hope I can… handle it,” I whispered.
“You won’t just handle it,” he said, voice low, confident. “You’ll own it. And I’ll be right here. Every step.”
His reassurance calmed me, just enough to let me breathe. I nodded and followed him down the long corridor toward the grand hall, my new domain as Luna. The air changed as we entered—the chatter of pack members quieted, eyes turning toward us. The moment my foot crossed the threshold, I felt their curiosity, their subtle judgment, their silent questions: Can she lead us? Does she truly belong here?
Mina was there, of course, perfectly poised in her usual icy elegance. She noticed me immediately, and her lips curved into a faint, wicked smile. She knew today mattered, and she knew she wanted to make it hers too.
I refused to let her shake me. I straightened my shoulders, held my head high, and gave a polite nod to her, a gesture that said, I see you, but I’m not afraid.
The room was filled with key members of the pack—the elders, the strongest warriors, the women who managed everything from households to hunting schedules. They watched, whispering among themselves. Some seemed curious, some skeptical, and I knew Mina’s smile had influenced a few of them.
Aiden stayed close to me, his presence a quiet shield. “Remember,” he whispered, “your authority doesn’t come from fear. It comes from respect. Speak with your heart, and they will follow.”
I took a deep breath and stepped forward.
The whispers grew louder. “She’s so young… can she handle this?” “She’s beautiful, but is beauty enough?” “Aiden chose her… but is that enough?”
I ignored them, focusing on the ground for a moment, feeling the weight of their stares. Then I lifted my head. Eyes forward. Heart steady. Today, I would not be timid.
“Good morning,” I said, voice soft but clear, carrying through the hall. Silence fell immediately. I felt the tension prick at my skin like electricity. “I am Aria, your Luna.”
A soft murmur went through the room, some murmurs of surprise, others of approval. I continued, my voice gaining strength as I spoke:
“Today is not just a ceremony for me. It is a new chapter for all of us. I know some of you may have questions, doubts, or concerns. That is natural. I am here to listen, to guide, and to protect this pack. My first duty as your Luna is to ensure you are safe, heard, and respected.”
Aiden’s hand brushed against mine, subtly, grounding me. He didn’t need to speak—his presence alone reminded me I had power, that I wasn’t alone.
Mina’s smirk was gone now, replaced by a flash of irritation. I noticed her whisper something to a few pack members, a subtle attempt to undermine me, to make them doubt me. But I would not let it take hold.
“I am aware,” I continued, my voice firmer, “that rumors and whispers may try to divide us, to make you question loyalty or truth. I ask you now: if anything is brought to your attention, bring it to me. I will deal with it fairly. No one in this pack will be judged by hearsay or deceit.”
There was a pause. The room was tense, like a held breath waiting to be released. I could feel every eye on me, every doubt being measured. Then I let myself step closer to the center, raising my hands slightly, not to show power, but presence.
“I will be a Luna who listens, who protects, and who leads with fairness. If you trust me, you will follow me—not because of my title, but because you see my heart. If you do not trust me yet, I will earn it. This is my promise.”
A few nods came from the elders, subtle but significant. Some of the women whispered to each other, impressed by my confidence. Even a few warriors straightened, as if acknowledging that a new era was beginning.
Mina, however, did not move. Her eyes were sharp, calculating. I knew she was planning something, and I had no illusions that her jealousy would fade. But I was ready to face it. I had to be.
Aiden stepped forward, quietly, speaking only so those nearest could hear: “Anyone who spreads lies, rumors, or disrespects my Luna again will face consequences. Let this be known. Aria is my Luna, and she has my protection.”
A wave of murmurs swept through the hall. Some pack members looked relieved, others cautious. But no one dared challenge him openly—not when he stood beside me.
I felt a small smile tug at my lips. This was not just Aiden protecting me. This was me stepping into my role, claiming my space, and showing them I was capable of more than anyone had expected.
The meeting continued for hours, with discussions about pack schedules, protection, and duties. I listened, contributed when I could, and offered guidance where it was needed. Every word I spoke was measured, deliberate, meant to show that I was not only Aiden’s Luna but a leader in my own right.
When the meeting ended, I stepped outside into the cool evening air. Aiden was there, waiting, his dark eyes softening as he looked at me.
“You were incredible,” he said, voice low, almost private. “I am proud of you, Aria. Today, you didn’t just survive. You led.”
I leaned into him, letting myself relax for the first time all day. “It was terrifying,” I admitted, my voice barely above a whisper. “But… I think I can do this.”
“You can,” he said firmly, pressing a kiss to my forehead. “And I will make sure no one ever doubts you again.”
I closed my eyes, letting the tension drain from my shoulders. For the first time, I felt like I truly belonged—not just as Aiden’s Luna, not just as the girl everyone once ignored, but as Aria, a leader, a protector, a woman who could stand tall in front of everyone.
And as I looked at him, standing strong beside me, I knew I was ready for whatever came next. Mina, rumors, challenges—none of it would break me. Not anymore.
I was Luna. I was his. And I was finally, undeniably, in control of my destiny.
