Chapter 25 The Morning To The Mating Ceremony
Chapter 25: The Morning of the Mating Ceremony — Aria’s POV
The sunlight filtered softly through the tall windows of Aiden’s house, spilling gold across the floor. I stood in front of the mirror, my hands trembling slightly as I carefully adjusted the folds of my ceremonial dress. Today… today I would officially become the Luna of the pack. The thought both thrilled and terrified me. Every thread of this dress, every ornament, every polished piece of jewelry symbolized something I had never imagined for myself: respect, power, responsibility.
Could I truly be the Luna? The number one lady of the pack, a woman who everyone would look up to? Could I command loyalty, compassion, and strength the way Aiden commanded the pack? The question made my stomach twist. I took a deep breath, trying to calm the storm of emotions churning inside me.
The soft click of the door opening made me turn. Aiden stepped in, his tall figure looming slightly in the morning light. He carried a calm confidence that made me both safe and nervous all at once. His eyes softened when they met mine, a teasing smile tugging at the corner of his lips.
“You’re taking forever,” he said lightly, walking closer. “I don’t want to be late for your big debut as Luna.”
I rolled my eyes, trying to hide my fluster. “I want everything perfect,” I murmured. “I… I don’t know if I can really—”
He stepped closer, cutting off my nervous ramble with a gentle touch on my arm. “Shh… you will be perfect, Aria. Not because of the dress, not because of the ceremony, but because it’s you. Every wolf in the pack will see that today.”
I swallowed hard, feeling warmth spread through me at his words. Even with all the power and expectation, he still saw me. Not the Omega who had been ignored, not the girl Mina tried to overshadow, but me.
He moved to the small dressing table beside me, picking up a delicate hairpin and holding it out. “Here, let me help,” he said, slipping it into my hair with a skillful hand. I shivered at the closeness.
“You’re… really calm,” I said quietly, trying not to betray the fluttering of my heart. “I’m… terrified.”
He chuckled softly, brushing a stray strand of hair from my face. “Nervousness suits you,” he teased. “But don’t worry. Today, everything is under control. Your mother and Mina are around, I know they might try something funny, but don’t even think about it. Security is watching them. And your brothers… well, they’ll be here, too, watching their adorable little sister become the Luna.”
I blinked, touched by his thoughtfulness. My brothers… always so protective, so caring. Even after everything, they had never doubted me. Their presence gave me strength, and the thought of them seeing me today as the woman I was meant to be filled me with pride.
Aiden stepped even closer, his voice dropping to a soft murmur. “Do you want to take a break? Sit with me for a moment?”
I hesitated, then nodded, letting him guide me to the small sofa in the corner of the room. He held my hand gently as I sat, the warmth of his touch spreading through me like sunlight.
“You look beautiful,” he whispered, leaning in just enough that I could feel his breath on my cheek. “Not just today, but every day. And today… today you’ll see every wolf’s eyes on you, and you’ll shine brighter than the sun.”
My heart hammered, and I couldn’t help but smile through the nerves. “I… I just hope I don’t mess this up,” I admitted. “I’ve never been in this position before. I don’t know if I can handle it.”
“You can,” he said firmly, tilting my chin up so our eyes met. “Because I’ll be with you. And your strength… it’s already here. You just need to believe it.”
We shared a quiet moment then, just the two of us, the world outside the room paused for a heartbeat. Then, without warning, he leaned closer and kissed me gently, brushing away the last of my nerves. My hands found his shoulders, and I melted into the warmth of his embrace, feeling a comfort I had never known.
Pulling back slightly, he smiled. “Come on,” he said softly, “we have a ceremony to prepare for.”
I rose to my feet, and together we returned to the task at hand. I arranged my dress, he straightened my veil, and we laughed quietly when a piece of jewelry fell and he pretended it was a disaster. The private moments we shared were a calm before the storm, a soft bubble of peace before the world came crashing in with all its expectations.
“I’ll be by your side the entire time,” he said, holding my hand as we walked toward the door. “Not just as your Alpha, but as the one who chooses you. Today, the pack will see that, and there’s no doubt… you are mine.”
I swallowed hard, feeling tears prick the corners of my eyes. Not from sadness, but from a mix of pride, love, and anticipation. I nodded. “I… I’m ready,” I whispered, my voice trembling, but with conviction. “Let’s do this.”
He pressed a quick kiss to my forehead, then we stepped into the sunlight streaming through the hallway. Today, I was not just Aria, the girl who had been overlooked or hurt. Today, I was Luna. And with Aiden by my side, I would face everything the pack, and even Mina, could throw at me.
I took a deep breath, feeling the weight of my new role, the eyes of the pack already waiting, and the warmth of Aiden’s hand in mine. The ceremony would be more than a union; it would be a declaration, a statement of who I was and who I would become.
And for the first time, I felt… unstoppable.
