Chapter 27 A way back home.
~~Ezera’s Pov~~
Before we reached the cabin, my arms had accumulated red spots due to the stinging of mosquitoes. My face twisted in annoyance, as I saw Charlotte laying on the couch, weak, and helpless with a wound around her stomach.
She looked surprised to see me.
“They brought a ship to come get us my love,” Damien spoke before she could question anything.
“ Are you going home?” her voice was strained.
Damien nodded and knelt beside her, “We are going home, my love.”
I had never seen this man so soft before, and yet he treated her like a flower. Would it kill him to treat me like that? Perhaps if Charlotte had not come into the picture.
“But I can't walk,” she said in a low tone.
He chuckled, “I'll carry you,” he drew his face closer to hers, his lips hovering above her face.
“I don't want to be a burden,” she pouted.
He slipped his hand into hers and brought it to his face. “Be a burden.”
I blinked, my fists clenched tight.
“Burden me, please my love,” he continued, “Just don't die on me, I cannot live without you.”
Charlotte smiled, but you could tell she was in pain , her face twisted slightly.
Loud footsteps echoed in our direction as Alexander walked towards us with a bag and a fresh change of clothes. “Let's go,” he slid his hands into his pockets.
Damien sucked in an annoyed sigh, “You are not getting into my ship.”
“What? I will let you stay in my cabin!” Alexander exclaimed.
“I do not trust you around my wife!” Damien barked.
My wife. He was angry, but those words came out of his mouth with pride, like Charlotte was a trophy, what was so special about her?
“I saved her life twice. What makes you think I'll hurt her!”
Charlotte groaned as she sat up on the seat, “Boys, stop fighting,” she breathed, her gaze lingered on Damien, “Do you really not trust him?”
“He's an enemy,” Damien responded,
Charlotte tried to stand on her feet, her face twisting with agony, “Baby, stop trying to get up, you will hurt yourself.” Damein moved to sit beside her.
She breathed, “Let him come with us,” she swallowed, “When we get back to land we will go our separate ways.”
Damien and Alexander exchanged death glances. “If you try anything stupid, I'll make sure you die,” Damien growled, “For real this time.”
Damien lifted Charlotte up in his arms and led her out of the cabin. She wrapped her hands around his neck and he held her as if she was an egg, as if she would break if he let her go even for a second.
Alexander and I walked briskly behind them. “It's been a while,” his irritating voice scratched my ears.
“I know,” I responded curtly. I gave him a skeptical gaze before I continued, “Why would you save Charlotte's life? You do not even like us.”
“She's beautiful,” he was blunt.
I halted, and my head spun to face him, “You…., wait, you…” I breathed, “You share the wife of the man you hate because you think she's beautiful?”
He nodded, as if it meant nothing.
“Killing Charlotte would have been a good chance to touch Damien right where it hurts.” I pinned my teeth together as I spoke.
His gaze flickered, and he looked away to avoid my gaze, “Gee…do you want him/her to die?”
I wanted to say yes, but I shook my head instead, “It's just strange that you saved her, that's all.” I turned and ran to catch up with Damien.
When we got in sight of the rest of the soldiers, they immediately stood up to greet them, “Boss!”
Some of them got out of the tents they had set up and rushed to Damien.
Their gaze narrowed to a skeptical gaze as they saw Alexander, their body tensed immediately.
"He's with us, for now, watch him and make sure he doesn't step out of line."
Danien gripped her tighter,“Fold your tents, let's go to the ship, my wife needs to rest.”
“Yes boss!” They all turned and began to undo all the things they had done. I was exhausted and had thought we would rest once we got here.
“Damien,” I rushed to walk beside him. Do you not think we should rest? We have been walking for more than forty minutes, your hands must feel weak too. My gaze dropped on Charlotte, who was fast asleep in his arms.
“This is my wife, Ezera. My hands cannot be weak from simply carrying her, I live to touch her.”
His words felt like a knife in my heart. Was everything he thought about love? “Yes but…”
“My wife needs to change into clean clothes and uncertainly cannot let her sleep in a tent,” he added.
I pressed my lips together.
A few minutes later, we arrived at the ship. Damien said nothing, he simply walked into one of the large bedrooms, he always stayed there whenever we used the ship.
The soldiers tossed their food aside outside and sat together. They were exhausted, my gaze caught Marcus, he gave me a look that I couldn't quite explain.
After making sure that the men were okay, I walked away to find a bedroom to rest. My gaze caught one of the rooms that I always stayed in.
I smiled and strolled towards the room. Last time we came here, Damein had given me his jacket to shield me from the cold. I had slept holding the jacket every night but had forgotten it.
I twisted the door knob and strolled in, my lips parting in shock as I saw Alexander. He was back naked, his brown hair was damp, and he stood in front of the mirror, admiring his abs.
His gaze caught mine through the mirror and I immediately spun around to rush out, but I slid on the wet floor and hit the ground with a loud thud.
Why was the floor wet?
I heard Alexander rush towards me, “Are you okay?” He picked me up from the floor and pulled me into the room, immediately shutting the door behind me, “Why would you leave the door open? Do.you want somebody to see me naked?”
I spun around, the image of water dripping down his packs was burning in my brain, and God, I saw his dick, it was huge and dangling between his legs. “I already saw you naked you dimwit! This is my bedroom!”
He didn't seem to care that he was naked before me. “There are over three thousand cabins on this ship to sleep in, and you choose here?”
I spun around to leave the bedroom. As I pulled the door open, I found three of Damien's soldiers walking towards me. I quickly slid back into the room. I didn't want them to think there was something going on between me and Damein's enemy.
I turned around and Alex stood facing me, a smirk on his face, “You came to see more?”
“I don't want people to go see me together with an enemy,” I growled in a low tone.
My gaze flickered down to his dick and then back up, “Please cover up,” I begged and spun around.
He walked past me towards his bag, his broad shoulders caught my eyes. I quickly looked away and moved to a desk beside me.
As I waited for him to change, the phone on the table buzzed, my brow raised, it was Alexander's phone.
I looked at the notification on the screen.
“Okay boss.”
Okay what?
My curiosity piqued, and I slid the screen, opening the chat so I could see properly. He was talking to one of his soldiers.
The soldier had expressed his worry about him jumping into the sea to get Charlotte. My eyes scrolled until I saw it.
“What about Celeste's plan?
Celeste? Was Alexander working with Celeste?
Before I could read his response, Alexander's hand suddenly grabbed the phone. I spun to look at him, his once playful face had turned cold and icy.
“Why are you going through my phone?”
I swallowed, “You….you are an enemy, of course I'll do that.”
I took a step back as he drew closer. I thought he would ask me not to say anything, or
threaten me. Instead, he said, “Get out of my cabin, Ezera.” his voice was hoarse.
I turned, my head bowed, I had still just seen him naked.
