Chapter 42

Today was finally the day. The day that Jake was returning home to his mother, who finally completed her rehab days. Jake was really happy to see his mother and so was she.

Jake has been on an emotional ride and just wanted to return home to his mother and finally live in peace. After what happened he finally got to see Ashley and was relieved that she was alright.

Today was a sad day for both Ashley and Jake. They both were saying goodbye, maybe forever, and no longer can be together.

A lot of things have changed during this summer. Ashley has finally accepted Roger as another father figure and supported her mother’s marriage with him. She found love, she forgave her best friend and made a new friend and got a new house to make more precious memories. She also attended therapy to help her with her night terrors and was finally heading back out to school.

Jake on the other hand, forgave his father and finally made up with him and accepted Katie and Roger’s marriage. He also decided to change his attitude towards life and decided to go to school.

Both Jake and Ashley were sad to say goodbye to one another, but they knew that this was for the best and that if they really loved each other then they would set each other free.

The gang was outside saying their goodbyes to Jake as Ashley watched from afar with tears in her eyes. After hugging both Katie and Roger, Jake turned towards Ashley, who stared down at the floor with tears streaming her face.

He sighed sadly before placing his duffle bag on the floor before walking towards her, “Hey, baby girl,” he called out before she instantly stepped back with her hand pressed against his chest, “No, don’t, don’t make this harder than it already is,” she said staring into his eyes as Jake sighed again, “Ashley, please, just let me hold you for the last time,” he pleaded as Ashley immediately threw herself into his arms, “I don’t want you to go,” she cried as Jake stroke her hair, “I know. My love, but I think this is for the best,” he said blinking away his tears as Ashley nodded against his chest, “I know, but please don’t ever forget me,” she whispered as Jake lifted her chin, “I could never forget the love of my life,” he said before smashing his lips on hers as she immediately kissed him back with so much love and passion, “I love you, Jake,” she whispered against his lips, “I love you too, Ashley.”
