Chapter 142: Chapter 142
Logan had just arrived at the place Liam had asked him to meet. The moment he stepped out of his car, he squinted against the bright afternoon sun, raising one hand to shield his eyes.
He looked around.
The place Liam had chosen was a club, but what surprised Logan most was its location. It was far from their city, practically in another city altogether.
He frowned slightly.
''Why did Liam bring me all the way here?"
They could have easily met at one of the clubs closer to home, but Logan didn't think too much about it. Liam was leaving soon, and perhaps he simply wanted to visit somewhere different before he left.
Logan immediately pulled out his phone and sent Chase a message.
"I'm here.''
He followed it with the location of the club and even took a quick picture of the building before sending that as well.
He could already imagine Chase's reaction when he realized how far away he was.
Logan smiled to himself.
''He's definitely going to complain.''
After making sure Chase had everything he needed, Logan slipped his phone back into his pocket and headed toward the entrance.
A bouncer stopped him and asked for his ID. Logan handed it over without complaint. After checking it and confirming his age, the bouncer returned it and allowed him inside.
Logan stepped through the doors and immediately realized he had underestimated the place.
It wasn't even dark outside yet, but the club was already packed.
Music blasted through the speakers, colorful lights flashed across the crowded room, and people moved around everywhere. His eyes widened slightly as he looked around.
''This place is packed.'' He muttered.
He scanned the crowd, searching for Liam.
Nothing.
He moved deeper into the club, carefully making his way between people.
''Sorry.''
''Excuse me.''
''Sorry.''
He continued looking around until suddenly, someone grabbed him around the waist from behind and pulled him against their body.
Logan's entire body tensed.
His hands immediately curled into fists as he sharply turned around, ready to defend himself.
But the moment he saw who it was, his anger disappeared.
''Liam!'' He released a breath of relief. ''God, I was just about to hit you.''
The music was too loud for Liam to hear him clearly.
Instead, Liam leaned closer.
''I'm sorry if I startled you.''
He smiled apologetically before taking Logan's hand.
''Come on. Let's go somewhere quieter. I've been waiting for you.''
Before Logan could properly respond, Liam began leading him away from the crowded dance floor.
They walked through a hallway connected to the club, and with every step, the music became quieter.
Logan glanced around.
''Where are we headed?''
''I booked us a private room.'' Liam replied. ''It's quieter there, and we'll have some privacy.''
Logan's brows furrowed.
A private room?
He looked down at their joined hands. He didn't particularly like how intimate the gesture felt, especially after everything that had happened between them, but he didn't want to make things awkward.
He gently pulled his hand away.
''Why did you book a private room?''
Liam stopped.
''And why did you ask me to come all the way out here? We could have met somewhere closer to home. Even this club is different from the places we usually go.''
For a moment, Liam simply stared at him.
Then his expression softened.
''I heard this place was really good, and I wanted to try it before I left.''
He gave a small shrug.
''But honestly, it's not as great as I thought.''
He looked away briefly before adding. ''I'm sorry for bringing you all the way here. If you don't want to stay, we can leave.''
There was something almost sad about the way he said it.
Logan stared at him for a moment.
He couldn't help feeling a little guilty.
Liam was leaving the country soon, and this was supposed to be their last meeting. He didn't want their final memory together to end with Liam feeling rejected all over again.
He sighed.
"It's fine.''
Liam looked back at him.
''Since you've already spent money on the room, we might as well stay for a while. We can talk, then I'll head home.''
A smile instantly appeared on Liam's face.
''Thank you, Logan. You're the best.''
Logan chuckled. ''Yeah, well, otherwise I never would have agreed to come this far.''
Liam laughed softly. ''Come on.''
He turned and continued down the hallway.
Logan followed behind him, completely unaware of the tension hidden beneath Liam's calm expression.
Liam's hands were trembling slightly.
He quickly curled them into fists, forcing himself to stop.
He couldn't afford to look nervous.
He couldn't let Logan notice anything.
So he kept walking, wearing the same calm smile on his face as he led Logan toward the private room.
Inside, however, his heart was pounding violently.
Everything was finally falling into place.
