Chapter 16 Near Miscarriage
Aria's scream awakened a trace of rationality in Arthur.
His movements froze, his breathing heavy, his eyes shocked.
"What did you say?"
Aria's spine tingled with fear, but at least he had stopped. The baby in her belly was safe for now.
She was about to push him away when he pinned her down again.
Arthur's eyes suddenly turned dangerous.
He thought of that blood-stained paper.
"You just had your period a while ago, how could you be pregnant?"
"Aria, to keep me from touching you, you'd even make up a lie like this? Do you hate me that much?"
Aria was so anxious she almost cried.
"Arthur! I'm telling the truth!"
His current state was too dangerous, his muscles tense all over, and having drunk some alcohol, he was completely consumed by desire.
She had originally planned not to let him know about this baby's existence, but if sex caused her to lose the child, she absolutely couldn't accept that.
The doctor had warned her several times that given her physical condition, sex was absolutely forbidden in early pregnancy.
She bit her lip. "I have proof to show you! Can you please let me go first?"
"Shut up! You're just making excuses!" Arthur cut her off, his eyes terrifyingly dark.
Thinking of how intimate she was with that Charles, how she was even willing to let someone else kiss her hand, yet hated his touch.
When they were the legal married couple.
"Aria, please don't reject me, okay? I know you're still angry, I'll comfort you properly..."
He leaned down again, his lips against her ear, his voice both intimate and frightening.
Aria trembled all over. "No—"
Arthur didn't give her another chance to speak.
Her cries and struggles were all blocked by him.
Just kissing wasn't enough, of course. His penis had been painfully hard for a while now.
He spread her legs apart, his palm gripping the soft flesh of her thighs forcefully.
His breath sprayed on her neck, as heavy as a wild beast!
Desperate tears slid down from the corners of her eyes.
Suddenly, an urgent phone ringtone sounded.
It was Sophie's special ringtone.
Arthur stopped his movements.
Aria came to her senses and immediately pushed him away, curling up in the corner.
He frowned deeply, took a deep breath, and still answered the phone.
"Sophie, what's wrong?"
"Arthur, where are you? I'm so scared, someone's following me, I don't know what to do..."
Her voice was shaking badly.
Arthur sobered up a bit and asked with concern. "Where are your bodyguards? Aren't they protecting you?"
"After you left, I felt upset and went out for a walk by myself. Arthur, can you come find me?"
On the other end of the phone, Sophie seemed about to cry.
Arthur looked at the woman on the bed with difficulty.
Aria's eyes lost focus, her ears buzzing, as if she was about to shatter.
"Where are you?" Arthur asked.
"Block 265! Oh my god, I didn't know the security here was so bad, there are homeless people sleeping on the streets, they're looking at me!"
"Don't be scared, I'm coming right now!" He comforted her and hung up the phone.
"I..." Arthur felt a bit guilty, the words stuck in his throat.
Aria regained some composure. "Go find her."
She smiled bitterly to herself, never expecting that one day Sophie would be the one to save her.
Arthur got dressed and looked at her. "Aria, Sophie is really in danger. Don't worry, I'll just take her home and come right back!"
She didn't speak, her expression cold. Arthur took a deep breath and left the bedroom.
After a long time, so long that the warmth on her body turned ice cold, she finally sat up.
But just as she was about to get out of bed, her lower abdomen suddenly cramped violently.
She couldn't help but moan, the pain making her vision go black.
"Oh no..."
She looked down and saw blood flowing from her lower body.
Aria froze completely.
How could this happen?! They clearly hadn't done it!
She was terrified, and enduring the severe pain, she crawled out of bed and picked up her phone from the floor.
After dialing emergency services, she was in so much pain she could barely speak, managing only to give the address.
Then she crawled to the wardrobe and found clothes to put on.
When the ambulance arrived, she had almost lost consciousness and passed out.
When she woke up again, she was already in the hospital.
Doctors and nurses were all by her bed.
"Thank god, ma'am, you're finally awake. If we'd waited any longer, we would have had to consider moving you to intensive care."
Aria's pupils contracted, she could barely make a sound. "How's my baby? Is he..."
"The fetus is stable now. It was early pregnancy bleeding, the situation isn't optimistic. Where is your husband?"
Aria breathed a sigh of relief, carefully placing her hand on her belly.
"He's not available. Just tell me what I need to pay attention to."
"Alright." The doctor's voice was full of sympathy.
"You must stay in bed and rest for a while. Also, keep your emotions stable. The threatened miscarriage was caused by being too emotionally agitated."
"If your husband isn't around, do you have any other family members?"
Aria closed her eyes and shook her head.
Without family to care for her, Aria had no choice but to ask the nurses for help.
But the nursing station was also very short-staffed.
Most importantly, she had almost miscarried, her body was very weak, and her diet needed to improve.
After thinking for a long time, she decided to call Ann and arrange for a servant to come to the hospital.
As for whether Arthur would be suspicious, she no longer cared.
But it wasn't Ann who answered the phone, it was a soft, delicate female voice.
Aria was too familiar with this voice.
It was Sophie.
She was actually living in the villa? Did Arthur arrange this?
Her breathing caught, "Is Ann there?"
Sophie said in surprise. "Aria? Why are you looking for Ann?"
Her hands were trembling slightly. "Let her answer the phone."
"Ann's not here." Sophie's voice was incredibly cheerful. "She took a few days off, and you're not here either, so I'm managing everything at home now."
Aria closed her eyes, her stomach churning.
Sophie seemed to have already become the mistress of the villa.
"You can tell me if you need anything." Sophie said with a smile. "I'm living here now, taking care of Arthur for you. Don't worry, I'll take very good care of him."
Aria's fingers clutched the bedsheet. "I don't need that."
The phone slipped from her hand and fell to the floor.
A nurse happened to push the door open and asked. "Ms. Hall, there's a lady named Summer here to visit you, she seems to be your friend."
Aria was stunned. Summer was her best friend.
She had been studying in Germany for several years, why did she suddenly come back?
