Chapter 13: Mafia Leader

The man who stood in the middle looked like a boss. He was a big man, wearing a black suit, a lot of gold chains around his neck, and his laugh was scary. There were four to five people covered in a sort of weird black uniform, having their guns loaded. We were only two, and I wondered if Vivian could make it through this or not.

"You're getting on my nerves, Eric. You don't know who I'm or you're pretending to be innocent." Vivian said calmly like he was dealing with one of his clients.

Eric laughed quietly like he found it funny. "I know you very well, Mr. Miller. How can I forget you?"

Vivian gradually took a step closer to him and away from me. "Still you're here and looking for your death, Eric." He asked and then took another step carefully. "This time I won't spare your life."

It all happened in a blink of an eye: Vivian rushed to him and grasped Eric's wrist with his left hand, pressing his own gun against his chest. "Now, tell me what you want, Mr. Wilson. Why are you here?"

"Vivian…" Eric gulped and struggled to his legs.

Vivian snatched the gun and pressed right on his temple. "I warned you before, Eric. Why didn't you listen to me? Unfortunately, I'll have to kill you." He turned to Eric's men. "Kneel and put your guns down on the fucking floor if you don't want me to shoot your scumbag boss," he growled at them.

"You…won't shoot…me," Eric stuttered, shifting uncomfortably on his legs. He looked like he would piss his pants at any moment.

"I won't shoot you, Eric Wilson. You're not worthy of painless death. You deserve brutal and painful death," Vivian said with amusement. "Now, tell them to kneel, otherwise I'll have to rip your fucking brain out of your useless head!"

"Kneel, dammit…!" Eric growled at his men fearfully. In a moment, everyone kneeled and put their weapons down on the floor.

"What makes you think you would kill me, asshole?" Vivian asked while jabbing Eric's head with the back of the pistol. "No one has ever tried to cross me, and you're such a stupid bastard," he said, power emitted in his voice.

Suddenly, a woman's cry echoed in the room and caught everyone's attention. I turned my head to the side and gasped in horror when I saw a man gripping Sarah by the back of her neck and pushing her inside the room forcefully. He was a muscular man with gray-black hair and a snake tattoo behind his left ear.

He looked just as frightening.

"Get the fuck away from me!" Sarah gritted out and tried to snatch her hand from him.

"Don't annoy me, bitch. You're just making it worse," the tattooed man growled in her ear and made her shudder in fear.

The situation had worsened. On the one side, there was Sarah, and on the other side Eric. Vivian's one wrong step might put Sarah's life in danger. I couldn't bear it if anything happened to her.

"Let her go," Vivian gritted out.

"First, you let my boss go!" The tattooed man demanded.

The atmosphere became heavy and scary. There was an acute situation between both of them. They were glaring at each other as if they would engage in ugly fights at any second.

After a few minutes of heavy silence, Vivian let out, "If I won't?"

"And so I'll." He pushed Sarah on the floor and made her fall to her knees. She whimpered in pain. My heart squeezed seeing her like this. I wanted to help her. But how? I didn't have a weapon.

"Fuck you!" Sarah hissed, glaring at the man.

And the next moment, he slapped across her face hard and I gasped, covering my mouth with a hand. "I warned you, don't annoy me!"

I wanted to kill that man!

"I'll kill you!" Vivian hissed and rushed to him. But before he reached out to the tattooed man, Eric sprang to his feet behind him and threw his arm around Vivian's neck before yanking him backward.

No!

My heart hammered louder and louder as panic crawled my chest. They needed my help, and I had to find a way to get them out of this danger. But how? I had to get out of this room. I didn't know what would happen if I left this room. But I had no other way either.

Without another thought, I stepped out, and all pairs of eyes were set on me. It took them a while to realize I was another member of this room.

"Ah, see who is coming," Eric said with a smirk, eye-fucking me.

"Why the fuck!" Vivian hissed once he noticed me. Obviously, he didn't want me to come out. "I told you to stay the fuck there until my next order."

"I want to help you," I protested, trying to avoid hungry eyes on me. Reminder: I was wearing a short dress that barely covered my ass.

"You just made it difficult!" Vivian snapped, glaring at me angrily.

"I…" I stopped in mid when Vivian flung his arm and released himself out of Eric's grip. He was about to snatch the gun from the floor but.

"Don't move or I'll shoot her!" The tattooed man warned and pressed his gun against Sarah's forehead.

Vivian's jaw clenched as he let go of the gun, cursing under his breath.

"Move." One man jabbed my back with a gun, pushing me towards Vivian and Sarah.

"You're fucking stupid!" Vivian hissed under his breath next to me. "Why the fuck did you come out?"

"To help you," I mumbled.

"Oh, I'm glad to hear that. How thoughtful you are. Now tell me, ma'am, what should we do next?" He taunted me with a sneer and made my blood boil. "You can't do anything!"

"I can!" I snapped. "I can and I'm going to prove it." He thought I was a weak and pitiful girl. Now I was going to prove him wrong.

"Hey, beauty, why don't you come with me?" Eric sneered. His eyes ran down the length of my body and made me feel nauseous.

"Leave her alone, asshole!" Sarah growled. "I'll cut your dick into pieces if you ever try to touch her."

"Shut up, bitch!" He barked at her and my hands balled into fists, wanting nothing more than to punch right in his face.

"Beauty…" He came closer to me and blew his foul breath across my face. I could see his wrinkled face and there was an ugly scar just under his right eye. I processed my mind to do something. But had no weapon or something which I could use to wound him. His one step made me feel dizzy. I had to do something, something to prevent him. Suddenly, my eyes went to his knife.

His one more step made me wild and without hesitation, I stomped my sharp heel on his right leg as hard as I could to make him scream out in pain. "Bitch!" he hissed and stumbled to his foot.

The knife slipped out of his grip. Immediately, I lunged at it and snatched it from the ground. My heart sped up and my body was trembling violently as if I had done some kind of stunt.

I breathed sharply and held the knife with my both hands, shoving it into his face. "D-don't move," I warned him, my voice stuttering. I tried to put on a brave face, but my body was shuddering in fear. I had to give my best to prove myself.

He chuckled as he eyed me fearlessly. "You don't even know how to hold a knife properly, darling. See…" he gestured to my shaky hands.

"But I do!" Vivian yanked the knife from my hands and stepped in front of us. "You two get into the room right away."

I and Sarah rushed to the changing room but before we could get inside that tattooed man blocked our way and made us jump in fright. I gripped Sarah's hand tightly.

"Stay out of our way bastard, don't compel me!" she growled into his face and tightened her grip around my hand.

"What will you do, little bitch?"

"I-I—" she charged at him and grabbed his hand and took a harsh bite of his hand, making him scream in pain.

We grabbed the opportunity and hurried into the room. I slammed the door shut, panting. "Thank god, you're okay." I embraced Sarah and relief settled in my chest.

The explosion of gunshots erupted into the air. It meant the battle took place. The echoing sound of the gun was hurting my ears. Sarah was sitting with her knees to her chest and didn't speak a single word. I had never seen her like that. She looked pale and vulnerable.

The war continued for five minutes. The sounds of Bullets continued drumming in my ears. I heard windows or glasses shattered.

Eventually, the sounds of guns finally died. There was a heavy silence outside the room. I was thinking about Vivian. Is he okay? I hated him, but I never wanted him to die or be injured badly. I was not that kind of person.

Sarah was still silent and rested her head on her knees.

I gently caressed her hair. "Sarah, what's wrong?"

She lifted her gaze at me. "Nothing."

"Are you okay?"

"I'm fine." She smiled faintly.

"Why are they here?" I was curious why they were here and why they wanted to kill Vivian?

She played with her fingers as trying to find an answer. "They are here to kill Vivian." She stayed quiet for a few seconds. "He is a gangster. I mean the leader of the mafia. He is the biggest criminal in the city so it is obvious his enemies want him dead."

I was shocked.

I remembered Ava told me her father was the owner of Miller's group and I knew the miller group was the largest textile industry in town. "But his father is the owner of the Miller group; it means he is supposed to be the owner or partner of the Miller group."

She nodded and agreed with me. "Yeah, he is supposed to be. But he wants to be more powerful. He wants to rule over the country."

"Strange…" I said.

"Yeah. It sounds strange but everyone has their reasons and Vivian also has his reason."

Someone knocked on the door. "Alice and Sarah. Are you in there?" I was relieved to hear Joseph's voice. I stood up and opened the door. I smiled when I saw him. "Are you okay?" He asked, glancing at me and Sarah.

"Yeah, and where's Vivian? Is he okay?" I asked, worried.

"You don't need to worry about him!" My eyes went round in shock when I heard his voice. He stood next to Joseph with his hands crossed over his chest. His icy gaze fixed on me.

Henry!

Why was he here?

He stepped up to me, eyeing me up and down. But he didn't seem surprised by my appearance because his expression was indifferent.

Without a word, he crossed past me and didn't acknowledge my presence in the room. He kneeled next to Sarah. "Are you alright?" he asked her.

Sarah nodded and was trying to stand on her feet. All of a sudden, her eyes rolled up and her body collapsed onto the ground. Immediately I kneeled beside her and laid her head on my lap, shaking her body softly. "Sarah…!"

"Damn, Joseph, get the car fast!" Henry ordered him with frustration.

"What happened to her?" I asked him, but he didn't bother to reply to me.

"Shit!" Vivian came inside.

"You asshole!" Henry stood up and grabbed him by his collar. "How many times I have to warn you to keep your damn business away from us."

"Whoa! man calm down." Vivian said calmly.

"Sir, the car is ready," Joseph informed.

Henry let go of his collar and carried Sarah into his arms and was ready to go to the hospital, but he paused in front of me for a few seconds. "You don't need to come."

"No. I want to be with her," I pleaded with him.

"No!" He gave me a frosty glare before walking out.
