The bride of Last Dragon
wiped the long tear which slid down from my glassy eyes with the back of my hand. The pain in my heart increased even more as my mind kept on asking me the same question again and again. It screamed on top of its lungs but I kept mute.
I have to.
It's been days since I left everything behind but my little brother's loud wails were still echoing in my ears, slicing my heart into two. How will he manage without me? I'm his only family who will feed him. Who will take care of him? Who will put him to sleep? All these questions made the pain I was feeling unbearable, making a loud whimper leave my mouth as warm tears trickled from my eyes and wet the expensive silk I was wearing.
What wrong did we do to deserve this? Why do we have to get separated like this?
I wanted to scream at all the people and ask them but I know in the end they will blame me because I'm a hex, a bad curse to them. I closed my eyes and more warm tears slid, feeling the heaviness in the middle of my chest. I rested my head on the wall of the moving carriage as I started to feel slight dizziness because of weeping all along. I closed my eyes for a bit but suddenly I started hearing the loud voice and it made me open them in alarm. The noises became even louder increasing the fear in my heart. It looked like havoc had come and my body shivered as I felt the carriage stop. As people were shouting I felt the carriage shuddering, making me grab the seat on which I was seated for support with my eyes shut in fear. In a split of seconds, everything went silent making my heart race even more. Everything became so silent as if all the uproar of people and carriage shuddering was all my imagination. I opened my eyes slowly but everything was still the same. I waited for someone to open the door and let me know the situation but nothing like that happens. I lifted my shaky hand to open the sliding door of the carriage to find no one was out there. It was the only evidence of the uproar I felt a few minutes ago. I gulped hard and walked out of it to see if someone was still there. Stepping down with my shaky legs I looked around to find no one was there. I was alone in a deserted land. I gulped hard as I knew I had reached my doom making me lower my gaze in more fear than I ever felt in my entire life. My body shivered even more as I felt someone in the distance watching me. It made me more adamant to not lift my eyes as I get power surging in the air I breathe. A bad chill passed my body as I sensed someone walking towards me making me curl my fingers on the silk material of my own. I waited and waited like a statue as that figure kept looking at me assessing me with its dark gaze. I felt it stopped moving in my direction when it was standing just a foot away from me. It was still assigning me with its dark gaze but I didn't dare to lift my eyes to look at it. We kept standing in silence. Even birds had stopped their chirping, making the loud beating of my heart the only sound we could hear.
"Look at me," a commanding dark voice said, making my body shiver even more. It had so much power that it could even make the dead walk again but I refused to obey. I heard a loud growl that made the ground beneath me shake, making my heart palpitate even more as I didn't follow his command.
"Bride, look at me," he said again In his commanding warning voice, making me take a step back. I still didn't obey him, making the ground beneath me shake again. I knew I had angered him and now I have to face his wrath. The fear in me increased even more. Instead of lifting my eyes and looking at him I turned and ran as fast as possible towards my freedom.
If I had any.
