Am I Dreaming?

Am I Dreaming?

NOVA

I sat across from Aiden, staring at him with a feeling of joy. After our classes today, he asked me out to dinner. I asked him about Ella, considering the fact that he had earlier convinced me she wasn't such a bad person.

I noticed that she had missed some of her classes, which was unlike her, and he told me she wasn't feeling too well. I thought about getting her number to call and check up on her but realized we weren't at that stage yet. I just wished her well instead.

We ate, drank, and talked about a lot of stuff. I got to know more about his family, like the fact that his mom was late. We were similar in that aspect, and I noticed he was more open toward me. This was the third time he had asked me out on a date though but he was yet to make his intentions open before me.

Other than being extra nice, he hadn't said anything about his feelings for me so I decided to take matters into my own hands, perhaps he was afraid or needed a nudge. After our date, we noticed it was getting late and called it a day.

We strolled back to school since our cars were still in the parking lot. When we got to the parking lot, Aiden said goodbye to me and turned to walk to his car.

I held his hand and pulled him back. He turned his face to look at me and I took advantage of the opportunity to kiss him. I could see the surprise on his face when I pulled away but afterward, he smiled and seemed really happy.

He happily said goodnight to me once again, and I felt on top of the world. I drove home, feeling like I has accomplished something so big.

LUCAS

I went home earlier than I usually did because of everything that happened at my office with Ella.

I kept replaying the scene of our kiss, and everything seemed so surreal. Did it really happen? I couldn't believe that I had just met Elle, but all of a sudden, my mind was filled with thoughts of her.

Well, I did feel good about everything, but then I felt apprehensive as well. I mean, there was my daughter, and there was her father as well.

Nova got back home after I did and I could see that she was glowing. I was so happy for her, and asked, "What's up, darling? What's making you so happy?"

She smiled, "I went on a date, Dad."

I said, "Hmmm, a guy. Tell me about him."

She sat beside me and began, "Well, you do know about him. He's the same guy I have always crushed on and his name is Aiden."

I thought for a while since the name rang a bell and finally asked, "Isn't he the same guy you said was best friends with your enemy and was acting as though you are invisible?"

"That was all in the past," she replied. "Everything was a misunderstanding. Well, the girl I thought was my enemy doesn't really hate me as much as I think, and to be honest, I don't think I hate her as well.

I think we were just competing with each other. She's good and I'm good; okay, I'm slightly better. I guess we were just competing with each other, and Aiden was in the middle, so he was kind of uncomfortable.

But the truth is that he really likes me. And today was the third time we went on a date, and we kissed."

I stared at my daughter for a while, feeling uncomfortable about everything. I did not want her to get hurt but this was the first time I was seeing her this way.

"So, you guys are already at that stage?" I asked.

She smiled, "Come on, Dad, I'm not a child anymore and I feel so happy."

I sighed, "I am not comfortable with a guy who ignored you for so long, and suddenly he's head over heels for you. But, if you're happy, I'll be happy as well. You know my happiness lies in yours.

And I think your being in love is rubbing off on me too. I feel happy because of love."

She stared at me in surprise, while I asked, "So if I find someone and I fall in love with them, would you mind?"

Her eyes widened as she seemed even more surprised, "You found someone, Dad?"

I shook my head, "No, I was just asking."

Obviously, I was testing the waters. I couldn't just tell her about Elle all of a sudden. I needed to know her reaction.

She said, "Well, I want you to be happy, Dad! Even though as a kid, I didn't want to see you with any woman. I was possessive and jealous and all of that, but that was me being selfish. If you've found someone and you love them, I think you should be with them. I will be rooting for you."

I stared at her in surprise and asked, "Really? Oh, Nova! You're such a sweetheart. I love you, darling."

She smiled and went into her room and I felt content. It was as though the universe was giving me a sign, everything seemed to be working out, making me believe that a relationship with Elle was possible. But then there was the issue of her being way younger than me. What was I supposed to do about this?

I went to Nova's room and stood by the door watching her as she happily typed away on her phone. I knew she was talking to that Aiden guy, judging by how much she was blushing. I needed to meet with him and warn him about the consequences of hurting my daughter.

I went into my room as well because I was also in the mood to talk to a certain someone. I opened my phone and stared at her number for a while before finally dialing it.

ELLA

I went back home feeling so happy, with butterflies in my stomach. I knew I wasn't fully successful yet, but I was so close.

While we were eating dinner, I barely touched my food and kept smiling. I didn't even realize what I was doing until Cameron asked, "What's up with you? Why are you smiling like a fool?"

I squinted my eyes at him, "I don't want to see your short legs in my car tomorrow."

"Your sister is in love," my mom said, trying to lighten the mood. "Don't worry, Cam, someday you'll feel the same way."

I rolled my eyes and said, "You guys can keep assuming."

Cameron threw his head back and laughed, "I feel so sorry for him already."

My Dad came out of the room to join us at the dining table and said, "You all should stop making fun of my Princess. Love is a beautiful thing."

I got up from the table and said, "Okay, I think I'm full already. I will be in my room."

I went into my room because I didn't want to continue smiling like a fool in front of everyone. I didn't even realize I was doing that. I wasn't even hungry, but then why had Lucas not called me?

Earlier on my way back home, it had occurred to me that Lucas might want to delete my number and cut off from me, so I called him. I felt it would give him a little push and I told him not to delete my number.

It was funny, though, because he laughed over it. I was hoping he would call again but it had been more than six hours already.

The thought had barely left my mind when my phone began to ring. I looked at my screen and noticed it was from Lucas. "Oh, my God!" I screamed.

Realizing my family was just outside. I covered my mouth and decided not to shout, as I didn't want them to know why I was excited.

I picked up the call and said, "Hey Lucas!"

How are you, dear?" He asked.

"I am so much better now," I replied.

"You weren't okay before?" He asked.

I smiled. "Well, you didn't call earlier, and it made me so sad and sick. The truth is that I've been thinking about you since I came back and I can't seem to forget the kiss we shared. You already know it was my first."

Lucas laughed and said, "Well, there's more where that came from."

I gasped, "Really? Are you inviting me to your office tomorrow?"

He said, "No, I am not inviting you to my office."

My face almost fell in disappointment, but then he said, "I am inviting you out to dinner. Is seven fine by you?"

"Seven is perfect, just like you, Lucas," I replied.

He chuckled, "Okay, I'll let you know about the venue tomorrow once I make up my mind about the place, and we'll have a lot to talk about when we meet.

I just wanted to give you a heads-up and thank you for making my day. Goodnight, Elle."

"Goodnight, Lucas," I said happily.

When he hung up, I stared at my screen, unable to believe what had just happened. I tapped my cheeks and asked myself, "Am I dreaming? Dinner with Lucas!

Can my life get any more perfect?

Wow! I am so lucky."
