Chapter 97

Chapter 97

Levi stood up and shook his hand, "Hello."

"Great, I'm actually meeting you in person." John held onto Levi's hand excitedly, not letting go.

There was some confusion in Levi's eyes. John was too enthusiastic. Even I felt a bit awkward watching. It really felt like a fan meeting their idol.

I smiled, "Let me introduce - he's... Nola's boyfriend."

"No, no, no, not anymore." Nola now wished she could cut all ties with him.

John moved closer to her side, "When did this happen? How come we're not together anymore? You didn't even tell me, you just don't want me anymore?"

Nola really didn't expect John to become more and more cheeky. She felt like she was losing face.

Levi was also smiling secretly, which I caught.

"Did you need me for something?" Levi still hadn't figured out what was going on.

I waved my hand, "No, nothing."

There was a knock at the door.

"Just a moment." Levi didn't let anyone come in.

John couldn't contain his excitement. He pulled out his phone, "Mr. Morgan, now that we all know each other, we're friends, right? Let's add each other on WhatsApp."

Nola pulled him back, "That's really enough."

I really admired people with John's personality - totally naturally friendly. But Levi had strong boundaries, so I wasn't sure if this would offend him.

"Okay."

Levi picked up his phone from the desk and opened his profile page.

"See, he's willing. Stop pulling me back. I'll let you pull me all you want later." John pried off Nola's hand and went forward to add Levi.

I smiled slightly, giving Nola a look that said, "Don't worry about it." Setting aside the Mr. Morgan identity, he was just adding one of our friends.

"Alright, let's keep in touch."

John's teasing earned Nola another eye roll.. It was probably Levi's personality, or Nola wouldn't be so worried that Levi would find it annoying.

"Okay."

Levi responded. I really didn't expect him to be so gentle today. Looking at him, I was almost falling for him.

"Blair, you need to hold it together." I reminded myself silently - don't show any adoring looks.

Knock knock.

The knocking came again. Levi looked at his watch and smiled.

"Are you a bit busy today?" I asked tentatively. I felt like the person outside was getting impatient.

Levi shook his head slowly, "Not busy."

"He suddenly got a bit crazy and insisted on dragging Blair to meet you. Please don't mind - that's just how he is. He's wanted to meet you for a long time."

Nola still patiently explained.

"That's thinking too small. Mr. Morgan is not the kind of person who would mind such a small thing." After saying this, John didn't forget to smile at Levi.

Actually, John was quite smart. He just didn't like to approach things seriously. He always made people around him happy.

I thought he must always bring joy to Nola, otherwise she wouldn't have stayed with him for so long.

Levi's phone rang again. I glanced at it but couldn't see the message content clearly - it seemed to be James's profile picture.

He looked at it once and turned the phone face down.

"Mr. Morgan, when you have time, let me treat you to dinner. You have to do me the honor." John invited enthusiastically.

"Okay."

Levi really seemed like a different person. He'd never been this patient with me before. He didn't find John annoying at all.

"Then it's settled. I'll definitely pick the best ingredients to treat you, and your wife, Blair, too." John called me the same way Nola did. I liked that he treated me as a real friend.

Maybe after my mother passed away, my personality became quiet. I went from being a lively girl to becoming an adult who preferred solitude.

Levi pressed his lips together, "Since you're calling my wife by her first name, why don't you call me by my name too?"

Indeed, "Mr. Morgan" sounded too distant.

John beamed with joy, "That's great! Being able to make a friend like you is really my great fortune."

"He didn't say you were friends. Stop flattering yourself. Can you be a bit more aware, dummy?" Nola ruthlessly roasted him.

"Honey, there's no need to expose your pet name for me in public. It's embarrassing. Save it for when we're alone, okay?"

John successfully made Nola so angry that she didn't want to talk anymore. She gave up - let him act however he wanted in front of Levi.

Knock knock.

This knock was noticeably heavier. I noticed Levi's expression changed instantly - he must be getting angry.

I said quietly, "If you're busy, go ahead. We don't have anything particularly important. Don't let us delay your work."

"Your matters are important."

Levi gave me a reassuring look, but I felt he was actually a bit uncomfortable.

John's eyes rolled around. He said with a smile, "Levi, sorry for bothering you for so long. We've added each other's contacts now, there'll be plenty of chances to chat. We won't disturb your work anymore."

"It's fine."

Levi maintained his calm demeanor, looking composed.

"You finally have some self-awareness," Nola muttered quietly.

"Should we head back to the office first, or could I treat you guys to some juice? There's a really good juice place downstairs."

I brought them here, so I should see it through. Plus, these two needed someone to mediate, in case they argued about this later.

"Sounds good," John responded quickly.

James outside really couldn't wait any longer. He raised his voice, "Mr. Morgan, we really need to go now, or we'll miss the flight."

"Making a big fuss over nothing."

Levi muttered this, then put his phone in his pocket.

He stood up, and only then did I see there was a suitcase on his side.

"You're going on a business trip?"

"Yeah."

Levi pulled the suitcase over, "I'm a bit busy today. I'll treat you all to dinner another time."

John said apologetically, "I really disturbed you. I had no idea you had to catch a flight. I'm really sorry."

"No rush."

Levi turned to look at me gently, "I'm leaving the house to you. I'll be gone about three or four days. You can call me anytime if anything comes up."

"Did you pack everything?"

Before, when he went on business trips, I was almost always the one who packed his luggage. It had been many days since I'd taken care of his things. Suddenly, my nose felt tingly.

"All done."

I noticed his shirt collar was a bit messy. I stepped forward to straighten it for him. The moment I looked up, I saw his Adam's apple move twice, and his neck turned red.

Instantly, my face felt hot. Being this intimate in front of others didn't seem quite right. I was just bothered by the messiness, that's all.

"Look at how gentle and caring she is, what a loving couple. You should learn from this."

John's casual remark made me instinctively push Levi away.
