Chapter 87

Chapter 87

I went to the hospital to visit Aiden. He was doing okay - he just passed out from anger after finding out about Michael's affair.

Levi hired professional caregivers, and the Morgan mansion had plenty of capable staff. They took good care of Aiden, so I could go to work without worrying.

After getting to the office, Nola came to see me. She asked if I'd embarrassed myself after drinking too much. I told her things at home were already a complete mess.

She couldn't really help, so after chatting for a bit, she went off to work.

I'd been working on designing a gift for Elliot's boss these past few days, but my mind was full of Jessa and Cleo. I put down my pen and rubbed my temples.

I prayed in my heart that they wouldn't come to my house again. Levi wasn't a savior - he couldn't help with everything.

My phone rang. It was Faye calling.

"Hello?"

I didn't know what gossip she'd gotten hold of this time, but she usually didn't call me unless it was something big.

"Blair, I just went to the office to organize my stuff. My brother kept saying my things were making a mess at his place."

"Okay, and then?"

"After I packed everything up, I was going to take it home myself, but I was curious about delivery speeds here. I heard deliveries are really fast now, so I wanted to try same-day delivery."

This girl was really bored. It was just like ordering takeout - Levi's driver was always ready; he could've just taken it back for her.

"I don't have that app, so I wanted to use my brother's phone to place the order. Guess what I saw?"

Did she go through Levi's phone?

All these years, we've never looked through each other's phones. I don't even know what apps Levi has on his phone.

We've always given each other space.

"What?"

Faye cleared her throat. "Just to be clear, I really didn't see it on purpose. As soon as I opened it, a message popped up."

"Stop being mysterious."

Now I was curious too. The main thing was that gossip-loving Faye always got so secretive when talking about things, you couldn't help but want to hear more.

"It was Jessa. She sent my brother a message saying she wants to meet him tonight."

This wasn't really shocking news. I knew Jessa had rekindled her feelings for Levi, so it was normal for her to ask to meet him.

"Blair, aren't you angry? Why are they still in contact? Levi's really something - what's so great about that woman anyway?"

Faye's opinion of Jessa was basically at zero now.

I continued rubbing my temples. My whole body felt tense.

"I can't control what they do. I have my own things to deal with. If they both want this, let them be."

I knew there was nothing I could do about it. Levi's legs were his own - I couldn't stop him. Besides, I never had control over him anyway. He was completely free.

"Blair, I think Jessa has bad intentions. The message she sent seemed kind of flirty. How about I go spy on them tonight?"

"You're a young woman - don't stay out too late."

"Haha, then let's both go. Don't you want to know if they're betraying you?"

Faye really was Levi's sister. She actually suggested we go together - that I should personally catch my own husband?

Even though I'd always been bothered by him and Jessa, and I'd thought about following him to see if he was actually betraying me, even if I saw them together, what could I do? Levi said he just wouldn't divorce, and I couldn't let go because of the child.

"That's settled then. I'll send you the address. I'll go wait for you tonight."

"Wait..."

Before I could say anything, she hung up.

She really was busy - keeping Celestia company, doing things she was interested in, and now taking on the responsibility of defending my marriage to Levi.

Jessa asked Levi to meet. Would he go?

I'd been feeling like things between us had gotten better, but suddenly it seemed like we were back to those anxious days.

Worried about him being with Jessa, then telling myself it didn't matter.

I couldn't focus on work to begin with, and Faye's call made me even more restless.

How could I not care? If they got back together, my marriage would be in crisis again.

Cleo's husband cheated on her - she was in the right, and she could blame Michael without any guilt.

But if Levi betrayed me, even my accusations would be silent. Who knew I was Levi's wife? Public opinion wouldn't blame him.

If he and Jessa got back together and he controlled the narrative, people would naturally bless them.

I went to Nola's dressing room and found some comfortable clothes. Faye was a woman of action - she would definitely go stake out the place tonight. If she saw something she shouldn't, she would definitely speak up for me.

I had to go with her, so I could hold her back at the critical moment and keep her from causing trouble.

Finally, it got dark. The whole afternoon had been torture.

Faye and I met up. We were in the private room next to the one Jessa had booked.

The sound of Jessa's high heels was crisp and loud. She was walking back and forth, doing something.

"Blair, let me sneak a peek at what she's up to."

I grabbed Faye. "That's not a good idea. If we get caught, it would be really embarrassing."

"It's fine, I'll be careful. What if she's trying to trap my brother? I need to know what's going on."

Faye picked up her phone and went out. She crouched down and walked slowly, hiding by the door next door to peek.

I glanced at her, then walked back to sit down.

Soon, Faye tiptoed back.

"Blair, I told you something was off with her. She's putting something in my brother's drink."

Faye excitedly opened the video she'd taken. Jessa smugly sprinkled powder into a wineglass, then swirled it.

"She likes my brother, so she probably wouldn't poison him, right? So it must be some kind of drug. Could she be planning to... with my brother..."

From watching too many dramas, Faye could guess too. Was Jessa trying to use this method to win Levi's heart back?

"Let's wait and see. You can't go out there again - it's too dangerous."

We were speaking very quietly. We could hear Levi's footsteps approaching.

"I think my brother's here. What do we do?" Faye couldn't decide either. She was just here for gossip - when something real happened, she didn't know what to do.

I told her to put her phone away, and we'd wait and see.

"Blair, this menu looks pretty good. How about we order some food too? We can't do important things on an empty stomach."

Seeing her holding her stomach, I had to let her order food.

We ate a few bites, then heard movement next door.

Irregular high heel sounds - I felt like Jessa must be helping Levi out.

Faye opened the door a crack, then turned back and whispered to me, "They're leaving. Let's follow them quickly. My brother looks like he's drunk."
