Chapter 386

Just as we reached the bathroom door, I stopped Levi.

"I can manage on my own. Just wait out here for me."

We'd never shared a bathroom or been in one together before. I wasn't comfortable having him there, even though I probably really did need someone with me.

"Go in first."

Levi pushed open the door, then gestured for me to enter. As I moved to close it, he followed me inside.

Then he turned around, his back to me.

My face grew hot. Even with him facing away, I still felt incredibly embarrassed. I had no idea what to do.

Right now I desperately needed to use the bathroom, but with him standing there, I was completely frozen.

"Could you please just go outside?" I asked softly. I really couldn't hold it much longer.

"You're already safely inside. It's fine."

I watched Levi's ears gradually turn red, then he pressed down the door handle and left.

Only then did I breathe a sigh of relief, finally able to relax.

My mind drifted to thoughts of having the baby later on. There would probably be even more embarrassing moments waiting for me then. When I had Celestia, our relationship had been so cold—he'd never seen me like that at all.

But this time would be different. He would definitely be there with me.

If he actively offered to help me, what would I do?

I realized I still wasn't used to having him in my life. Everything seemed to be changing, but these gradual shifts inevitably brought awkward moments.

When I opened the door, Levi was right outside waiting. He turned around and once again took hold of my arm.

"The patient's awake now. Let's check your blood pressure and heart rate."

The two nurses both seemed kind, though their gossiping behind my back had left me with an uncomfortable feeling.

I cooperated with the examination while Levi stood beside me.

"Everything looks normal. It's up to you whether you'd like to stay overnight or go home."

"Let's go home then."

I glanced at the lunch box on the table. Levi had probably prepared to stay overnight, but I didn't want to spend another moment here. Every time I came to the hospital, I felt inexplicably anxious.

"Alright, home it is."

Levi deferred to my wishes. I slowly stood up, preparing to grab the lunch box and leave.

He picked it up before I could, then looked at me gently.

This feeling of being cared for was truly wonderful. In the past, I'd handled all these little tasks while he simply enjoyed the results. Now he was taking care of me too, actively doing these small things.

When we reached the parking lot, the driver looked like he wanted to say something when he saw me. He wanted to show concern, but with Levi there, he felt too awkward to speak.

After these past few days together, the driver and I had become almost like friends, but when Levi was around, he worried about overstepping.

Once in the car, I finally turned on my phone.

After not checking it for so long, there were many unread messages.

Concerned messages from family, greetings from friends, and the latest message from Henry...

I glanced sideways at Levi. He was staring at his phone screen, not paying attention to me.

Only then did I open the conversation with Henry: [Mrs. Morgan, she keeps crying and crying, keeps trying to get me to hug her, actively pressing herself against me. It's really annoying...]

As expected, Arabella had already revealed her true nature. Meeting Henry had been about exactly this. I suddenly remembered what the nurses had said, unable to imagine what Jenna's brother must have gone through with her.

[Just keep her stable for now. I'll contact you after I get home.]

Levi had already accused me of being secretive twice. I couldn't just chat with Henry in front of him like this, and besides, this matter couldn't be explained in a message or two. If I kept typing, it would definitely draw his attention.

Better to call and explain everything once I got home. I'd surely have an opportunity when Levi wasn't watching.

"Hungry?"

Levi asked just as I closed my phone.

"Not really."

Outside the window, everything had gone dark. It was already nine o'clock at night.

"Nola and the others..."

"They went home after you fainted. Nola wanted to come to the hospital to stay with you."

"That wouldn't be appropriate with her being pregnant."

"Exactly."

Levi looked at me, kept looking at me.

I turned my head to look at him too.

We stared at each other for a long time, neither of us saying a word.

As soon as we got home, I was anxious to contact Henry first. I didn't know if Arabella had done anything inappropriate to him in those ten-plus minutes.

My plan had been for him to pretend to get along with her, not for him to actually sacrifice himself. What if Arabella forced herself on him and Henry, trying not to blow his cover...

That would be absolutely terrible!

"I'm actually feeling a bit hungry now. Could you make me a bowl of pasta?"

Just as we reached the living room, I made this request of Levi. I wanted enough time to communicate with Henry.

At that moment, Indigo heard the commotion and came out of Celestia's room.

"Mrs. Morgan, are you alright? I'll go make you something to eat."

At the same time, the driver discovered the lunch box left in the car and brought it in.

Indigo took the lunch box. "This food hasn't been touched at all. Let me go make you something fresh."

"That's not necessary."

I stopped Indigo.

What I was about to do next was something that made even me uncomfortable.

I touched Levi's arm. "I want to eat pasta made by you."

My tone was coquettish. Levi looked a bit surprised—this was the first time he'd seen me act this way.

To buy myself time, to avoid his watchful eyes, I was really forcing myself to act cutesy with him for the first time.

Indigo chuckled, spreading his hands. "Well, I can't help with that."

"I'll make it."

Levi readily agreed, heading straight for the dining room.

Both the driver and Indigo smiled.

"I'm going to rest now. Good night, everyone."

Face flushed, I hurried upstairs. The time it took to make a bowl of pasta would be enough. Indigo would definitely go check on Levi and ask if he needed help.

At the hospital, while Levi had been handling the paperwork, I'd found Jenna's information on the public board at the nurses' station and gotten her photo.

I sent the photo to Henry, then called him.

The phone rang several times before he finally answered.

"Hello, Mrs. Morgan..."

He kept his voice low, probably afraid of Arabella discovering him.

"Can you talk right now?"

"Yes."

"I just sent you a photo. She's a hospital nurse named Jenna, and she's the sister of Arabella's former lover. Since Arabella's troubled about Jessa's surgery right now, just say the hospital's confidentiality is terrible, then smoothly bring up that you have a nurse friend at the hospital, and show her the photo."

"And then?"

"Then don't do anything else. Just comfort her a bit, then set an alarm to fake getting a call and say you have to leave for something."

"Got it, Mrs. Morgan."

"Okay, that's it for now."

I hung up hastily. I couldn't let Levi catch me again this time.

I was having Henry use Jenna's photo to rattle Arabella. She definitely knew who Jenna was. Seeing Jenna would make her think of her brother, and then looking at Henry would surely leave her feeling unsettled.
