Chapter 33

Chapter 33

The next day, I woke up in pain.

After getting injured last night, Indigo bandaged me up and sent me back to my room. I slept surprisingly well through the night, so much so that I forgot about my injury and rolled over onto the wound.

The pillow beside me was empty—he still hadn't come back to sleep.

Thinking about how he got hurt because I pulled him along, I suddenly felt like laughing.

Compared to my previous fracture, last night's injury was really nothing.

I rubbed my eyes and saw from the sun that it was almost noon. There was an important meeting at the company today, and I missed it again. I'm really terrible at being a CEO.

These messy family matters keep me from fully focusing on work. I still can't throw myself into my new job quickly.

Levi has never given me any response about the divorce, so I just keep burning myself out...

I suddenly wanted to give myself a break. I need to separate myself from Levi as much as possible, so I can gradually start a new life.

He doesn't care about me anyway.

After washing up, I went downstairs.

Indigo was all smiles, which lifted my mood, too.

"Mrs. Morgan, how's your leg?"

"It's fine."

I checked my watch. I had made lunch plans with Nola to apologize for being late today.

"Celestia was picked up by the butler from the Morgan mansion. You'll be eating lunch alone. What would you like? I'll prepare it." As Indigo spoke, she took out a gift box from the cabinet.

"I'm not eating at home, so you don't need to make anything."

I was actually hungry. It seemed that after figuring some things out, my appetite had improved.

Indigo picked up the gift box. "Mrs. Morgan, the driver just brought this back. He said Mr. Morgan told him to give it to you."

"To me?"

This was really unusual. Levi had never specially given me anything, except for money transfers.

"Yes, open it and see. Mr. Morgan does think about you." Indigo encouraged me to open the box.

Such a fancy gift box made my face feel hot.

I opened the box to find two very delicate tea cakes inside.

"This tea smells so good, Mrs. Morgan. I never drink tea, but I can't help wanting to try it."

"The driver said Mr. Morgan mentioned you like drinking tea and told him to give it to you."

Was this a gift someone gave to Levi? Or did he buy it specially for me?

But he knows I like tea?

I rarely drink tea in front of him—I mostly enjoy a cup or two when I'm alone.

"If you like it, you can have it."

I genuinely wanted to give it to Indigo. This tea was indeed top-quality new tea.

Indigo kept refusing. "No, no, no, Mrs. Morgan, I can't drink this tea. It's Mr. Morgan's thoughtful gift to you."

"It's okay."

"Really, I can't, Mrs. Morgan. I don't know how to appreciate tea—it would be wasted on me. Plus, I've been having insomnia lately, and drinking it would make it even harder to sleep."

She made me laugh.

"Drinking a little during the day is fine."

We went back and forth twice, but I was in a hurry, so I let it go.

Just as I finished getting ready to leave, Jessa arrived.

"Just put the things here. Go wait for me in the car." Jessa instructed the driver.

She didn't waste any time and greeted Indigo as soon as she came in.

After we made eye contact, she immediately smiled at me.

That smile made me very uncomfortable.

What I admire most about Jessa is how she can always reset past unpleasantness, as if all the terrible things she did to me never happened.

"These fruits were just picked from the farm, very fresh. I brought some for you all."

Jessa acting properly did look somewhat decent, but I couldn't forget the bad things she'd done, and I instantly felt disgusted.

"Blair, let's sit down and talk."

"We have nothing to talk about, and you don't need to pretend. If you're here to see him, just wait."

Every extra minute made me feel suffocated.

Jessa's pleasant expression disappeared quickly, though she remained somewhat respectful.

"I came to explain about the other day—when Levi and I had dinner and ruined your date."

Her words held no apology, but rather showed off.

"I have things to do. Excuse me."

I wasn't going to fall for the same tricks again. I didn't want to waste any time on her now. I didn't care what happened between her and Levi.

Jessa blocked my way. "Blair, is this how you treat guests? No wonder Levi doesn't like you."

Guest?

I think she just wants to be annoying in front of me.

"Indigo, make Miss Greer some tea."

"Mrs. Morgan, which tea?"

"The one from just now."

Indigo had just put it away, but she suddenly raised her voice. "Mrs. Morgan, you mean the tea Mr. Morgan just sent you, right?"

"Right!"

"I don't drink tea. Blair, what are you trying to say? I only drink pure handmade juice."

After Jessa said this, she seemed to realize something. She questioned me, "Levi sent you tea?"

"The tea is good. You can taste it while waiting for him. He's quite skilled—the juice he makes for Celestia is delicious. Wait for him to come back and make some for you."

"You've had it?"

I smiled. "We're husband and wife, what do you think? Those drinks are too sweet for me, but I'm good with tea."

Jessa was going crazy with jealousy. "Levi, he..."

I didn't know if Levi had ever made juice for her. Actually, I'd never had anything he made by hand either. I just wanted to provoke Jessa so she'd be distracted and wouldn't scheme against me.

"Blair, what are you so proud of? I'm going to find him for lunch right now, and we're having dinner too." Jessa was so angry she could barely speak.

At that moment, Indigo brought over the tea, and the aroma immediately refreshed me.

"Miss Greer, please have some tea first. Mr. Morgan is on a business trip and will be gone for four or five days. If you need something, you'll probably have to wait a few days."

Levi was on a business trip? That meant I'd have a few relaxing days.

"Where did he go?"

"Mr. Morgan didn't say."

It seemed Jessa didn't have complete knowledge of Levi's whereabouts either. Don't they stay in touch regularly?

"I'll call him right now and ask."

Jessa dialed Levi's number, but the phone said it was turned off.

She angrily shoved her phone back in her bag.

I originally didn't have time to deal with her, but I don't know what came over me—I found myself pulling out my phone and dialing Levi's number.

"What is it?"

The sudden voice startled me, and I quickly hung up. How did I get through when Jessa's call just now said his phone was off?

"Why did Levi answer your call?"

I was a bit surprised too. Levi did have several phones, but Jessa was someone important to him—surely she could reach him.

Jessa demanded, "Say something! Call him again—I want to ask him myself."

I pushed her hand away. "Stop making a scene. If you want tea, stay and drink it. If you want to wait for him, move in as you did before."

"Indigo, take good care of our guest. I won't be back tonight—I'm going to the Morgan mansion."

Since Jessa wanted to stay, let her. She could do whatever she wanted. This was Levi's house anyway, and I doubted she'd dare do anything too crazy.
