Chapter 160

Chapter 160

I feel like I've been asleep for so long...

I dreamed I was consumed by flames.

I heard many people calling out to me, shouting my name.

I thought it was just a dream, but it felt so real.

My eyes felt like they were glued shut. I tried several times but couldn't open them.

"Mr. Morgan, Mrs. Morgan's fingers moved. I think she's waking up."

"Get some water."

I tried to move my hand and felt like my muscles and bones were all stiff. Probably because I was so tired, I felt weak the moment I woke up.

I struggled to open my eyes, and through the blur, Levi's face appeared before me.

"Have some water."

"Mrs. Morgan, you're finally awake. You scared me to death. You've been unconscious for so long."

Indigo's words brought me back to reality. Until just now, I thought I was dreaming that Levi had come home.

I slowly sat up, supporting myself with both hands on the bed, while Indigo helped me from the side.

"Why are you all here?"

Faye sat down beside me. "Blair, you scared me to death. Your room caught fire last night. You were sleeping so deeply. If the firefighters hadn't arrived in time, I don't even want to think about what could have happened."

"A fire?"

I rubbed my eyes. I couldn't remember anything. I only remembered burning the diary and the clothes, but I watched them turn to ash before I went to sleep.

Then I threw Levi's pillow on top and pressed it down. Could there still have been sparks?

"Blair, don't light fires in your room anymore. You burned my friend's ceramic pot completely black."

How could I make such a stupid mistake? I slept through it without knowing anything.

I looked around. This was the guest room.

"I..."

I couldn't think of a good explanation. I couldn't exactly say I burned things because I was angry about Levi and Ava.

Speaking of which... Levi...

I looked at him. He was holding a glass of water, waiting for me.

"Blair, good people always have good luck. Such a big fire and you're completely fine. You're so lucky."

Maybe Faye was exaggerating. How could a small spark cause a big fire? If the fire had really been that big, I wouldn't have survived.

"It was my carelessness."

Faye frowned. "You must be careful. Your room is completely burned out, and the rooms next to it are all blackened."

I turned to look at Indigo. She nodded, confirming what Faye said was true.

How could one person cause such a disaster...

"I'm so sorry. I almost put everyone in danger."

If the fire hadn't been controlled, everyone could have been in danger.

Levi put the glass in my hand. "As long as you're okay."

Up close, I could see his dark circles. I don't know when he came back. Last night before I went to sleep, I saw Ava post on Facebook about their candlelit dinner.

"Yes, Mrs. Morgan, you must take care of yourself. You're not alone anymore. If something happened to you, it would be terrible. The baby is still so small..."

My eyes widened, but Indigo's words were already out. She reached up to cover her mouth, but then worried that would draw even more attention from Levi.

Faye looked at me with disbelief. Before she could ask, Levi spoke first.

"What baby?"

I couldn't avoid his questioning gaze. I had wanted to wait until I cleared things up about him and Ava before deciding whether to tell him about the pregnancy.

Indigo saw my difficulty and felt guilty.

She gave an awkward smile. "Mrs. Morgan is pregnant. She was planning to surprise you on your birthday, but I couldn't hold it in and let it slip."

Levi's eyes softened. A smile played at the corners of his mouth as he stared at me and asked, "Is it true?"

"Yes."

At this point, I couldn't hide it anymore.

"Levi, you're going to be a father again."

Levi didn't hide his surprise. "You should have told me right away."

Indigo jumped in. "Mr. Morgan, you can't blame Mrs. Morgan for this. Last time, you went on a business trip because someone sent her a gift, and you were gone for many days. Even if she wanted to tell you, she couldn't find you."

"And also, you came back to the country but didn't come home. She waited for you until the early morning that day. She's pregnant, and I was worried about her health so I told her to rest, but she said she'd wait a bit longer for you."

"The person who sent Mrs. Morgan the gift has nothing to do with her. I think he's deliberately trying to keep you two from being happy together. Please don't be stubborn anymore. It's too hard for her to manage this household alone."

Indigo seemed to have opened a floodgate, speaking up for me non-stop. I saw Levi's face turn red. Did he feel guilty?

"I was wrong."

This was the first time I heard an apology from Levi. The first time he admitted he hadn't done well enough.

Faye chuckled. "Good that you know. Don't get tangled up with foreigners. Your wife at home is so much better than them, a million times better."

Faced with Faye's "sarcasm," Levi didn't get angry. Instead, he looked at me with apologetic eyes, wanting to say something but holding back.

"Mrs. Morgan, I'll go cook something for you. Such a big thing happened, Mr. Morgan should know about it. I was the one who called to tell him. You must stop facing everything alone."

If Indigo hadn't notified him, maybe Levi still wouldn't know I almost burned to death. But the way he's looking at me is so sincere. I shouldn't doubt his feelings, should I?

"I'm not hungry. Don't trouble yourself yet. What time is it?"

"It's already noon. Even if you're not eating, the baby needs nutrition."

Levi looked at Indigo. "Don't listen to her."

"Mrs. Morgan, you rest well. I'll make you some nutritious soup. You look terrible."

"I'm not eating lunch at home. I have important things to do. I need to go out now."

Faye walked over to Levi's side and said with a pout, "Levi, I don't need to teach you how to take care of Blair, do I?"

"Let's go!"

Levi didn't know whether to laugh or cry. He now looked like a child who had done something wrong, with everyone in the family lecturing him.

Faye stuck her tongue out at him. "Bleh!"

When only Levi and I were left in the room, I fully came to my senses. I felt like I had been reborn. After the secret in my heart was revealed, I felt completely relieved.

Levi sat beside me and pulled me into his arms.

"I'm sorry."

I froze. Even he had changed? How could he apologize to me on his own?

"I shouldn't have been gone for so long."

I didn't say anything. I wanted to hear his explanation.

But after a while, he didn't say anything more.

I shifted a bit. Being held by him was getting hot.

"Indigo didn't finish earlier. I'm carrying two babies."

As soon as I finished speaking, Levi held me even closer. Through our clothes, I could feel the joy in his body.

"Don't go to work anymore."

What kind of reaction is this?

I know Levi has always been steady, so he wouldn't exclaim with joy or show too much physical excitement, but why doesn't he want me to work?

"The company really needs people right now. Nola is pregnant too."

I broke free from his embrace and turned to look at him. "I have to work."
