Chapter 158
I'm someone who takes advice well, especially when I'm vulnerable. As long as someone gives me kind advice, I'll take it to heart.
Aiden called and asked me to come back to the Morgan mansion.
After I arrived, while waiting for Aiden to finish talking with his friend, I saw Ava's social media post.
This time, it was photos of her and Levi having fun together, both smiling happily at the most famous resort hotel in our city.
My heart felt like it was being stabbed with needles - it hurt so much.
I had just gotten over the thing with Chase, and now Levi and Ava dealt me another heavy blow. I was really about to break.
"Blair, an old friend of your grandfather's came over. He also knew your maternal grandfather. The three of them used to be best friends, but then this friend settled abroad. After all these years, this is their first reunion."
Rhea heard I had come and specially rushed back from outside.
"Last time you came, your grandfather and I were having a fight. Don't take it personally - it wasn't that I didn't want to see you."
"Grandma, I didn't take it personally. I understand. Have you two made up now?"
"Yes, yes. He was sincere in his apology, so I forgave him one more time."
At Rhea's age, having a husband willing to back down was really lucky. No matter whose fault it was, it was good that the cold war didn't last long.
I helped Rhea sit down. She took out a brocade box from her bag. "I just got a treasure from Mia. Perfect timing that you're here - take it."
Rhea placed the brocade box in my palm and specially had me cover it with my other hand to hold it properly.
"Grandma, you shouldn't always give me these good things. You're spoiling me."
"I'm just afraid I'm not doing enough. My mindset is really good now. I just think that every day I'm alive, I can take care of you all for one more day."
That didn't sound positive at all. It seemed Rhea's mood had still been affected recently.
"Grandma, we'll all be fine. You should go out more, travel with your friends."
Rhea smiled. "I can't take planes, and I can't handle long bus rides either. I'm fine staying at home, drinking tea and doing embroidery."
"Grandma, my friend Nola is pregnant. Could you embroider two pairs of baby shoes for me? They need to be exactly the same."
"Oh, really? That's such good news. I'll start embroidering after the holiday. These past few days many relatives and friends have been visiting, so I don't have much free time."
"Okay."
I had my own reasons - I wanted Grandma to embroider for my two babies. I didn't want to talk about my pregnancy right now. After seeing those photos of Levi and them, I didn't even want to tell him anymore.
Just as I was falling into worry again, Aiden came in.
"Blair, sorry to keep you waiting."
"Not at all, I just got here."
Rhea wasn't still angry. She guessed Aiden and I had things to discuss, so she went back to her room first.
Aiden was holding a document envelope. He handed it to me.
"Blair, I don't know if Levi has mentioned anything to you about company shares."
I recalled how Aiden had me deliver a document before, and Levi said Aiden wanted to give me shares.
"A little bit."
Aiden held his cane with both hands. "That boy Levi has been a bit too playful. The thing with that girl just ended a few days ago, and now he's gotten involved with a foreign one."
"I was going to turn a blind eye. I believe Levi isn't the type to fool around with women. This is between you two. Ask him about it later and let me know."
I put the document envelope on the coffee table.
"Grandpa, we've troubled you with our matters. We can handle it ourselves, don't worry. As for the shares, let's not bring that up."
I never thought about getting shares in the Morgan Group. This was the Morgan family's hard work over generations. I had no right to inherit it.
Aiden said to me seriously, "I'm making this decision. No matter what happens between you and Levi, in my heart you're like my own granddaughter. I have full authority over the shares, and I'm giving them to you!"
Grandpa's shares were a very high percentage, nearly half. I'm afraid even Levi's father never dared to think he could inherit them, let alone me.
"Grandpa, we'll handle our matters ourselves. The Morgan family doesn't owe me anything. It's all because of our fate. It's okay if he doesn't like me."
"But I'm worried. The Skye family's nephew already came to the house to propose marriage, and that rascal Levi is being so ridiculous, not cherishing such a good wife."
My heart grew heavy. When Aiden said this, it seemed like he thought there was something going on between Levi and Ava.
I bit my lip to keep myself from getting emotional.
"Grandpa, you and Grandma just take care of your health. We'll be fine. Maybe there's a misunderstanding. When he comes home, I'll talk to him."
"He hasn't come home yet, has he? That rascal!"
Aiden got so angry he coughed twice. I picked up a water glass to hand to him, but he motioned for me to sit down.
"I'm fine. Put this document away. Whether I sign it or not, it's effective. I've already had the company lawyer notarize it. You're now the largest shareholder of the Morgan Group. No one can shake your position."
From beginning to end, it was Aiden who gave me confidence. As soon as there was a bit of news about Levi and Ava, he gave me the share transfer agreement.
"Grandpa, I don't know what to say..."
Aiden stood up and slowly walked to my side, patting my head. "Blair, remember this - you're the only granddaughter-in-law I recognize. If one day you don't want Levi anymore, you'll still be my most beloved granddaughter."
"Grandpa..."
I hugged him like I did when I was little. At this moment, I really wanted to hide in his arms and have a good cry. I really couldn't hold it in anymore. The thought of divorcing Levi appeared in my mind again.
"Blair, rest when you're tired. He'll definitely come before the holiday, and I'll teach him a good lesson then."
"Don't, Grandpa. Don't tell him. It'll make me look petty."
"Silly child, who could be generous about this kind of thing?"
Aiden patted my back, comforting my emotions.
He said Levi was playful, but Levi managed the Morgan Group so well. I just didn't understand - he went on a business trip because he was jealous and upset, so why did he end up getting mixed up with Ava?
"Listen to me. Don't say anything yet. If Levi acts out, we'll teach him a lesson."
I understood how good Aiden was to me, but I also knew his love for Levi. How could I bear to see them at odds? They had just gotten along better recently.
"Grandpa, don't worry. I can understand."
Actually, my heart was already shattered. Now I had the shares, and I had two babies in my belly. These all sounded like winning cards, but I wasn't happy at all.
Without Levi's true heart, these things were meaningless.
I had dinner with Aiden and Rhea, and on the way home I suddenly wanted to get drunk. I didn't want to look at the bright lights outside - I felt like they were all mocking lonely me.
