Chapter 132
I arrived at the Morgan mansion, but Aiden and Rhea weren't there.
Faye and Celestia had been waiting for me. They said Aiden and Rhea had gone out, apparently to meet some old friends.
"Blair, this is my new friend, Sophia Brown."
"Hello, Blair."
I looked her up and down. This girl seemed just as playful and quirky as Faye, though her name sounded quite ladylike.
"Hi."
Celestia hugged my arm. "Mom, I haven't seen you in days. Why didn't Dad come pick me up?"
"He's on a business trip."
Faye pulled Sophia toward the car. "Blair, you don't mind if Sophia stays with me for a few days, right?"
Since she'd already put it that way, I couldn't really refuse.
"Sure."
The three of them chatted and laughed the whole way. I didn't have any other thoughts about it. Celestia seemed to like Sophia, too, calling her Auntie Sophia the whole time.
My phone screen lit up. I saw it was a message from Elliot.
When there was no traffic ahead, I opened it to look. It was actually a photo of him and Jessa.
He said he'd run into Jessa by chance. Since she was Michael's product spokesperson, they'd gone to see a play together.
I smiled, my lips twisting slightly.
What a small world - they could actually end up connected. He could send me gifts on one hand, and go see plays with Jessa on the other.
Women seemed like accessories, attached to some man.
Whatever the relationship, if it were me, I probably couldn't socialize with him like that.
Jessa was single - whatever she did was reasonable, right?
I understood less and less what Elliot was doing. What did it matter to me who he was with? Why was he sending this to me?
"Almost home. Let me tell you, my brother's house is really impressive."
Faye said excitedly.
Sophia smiled. "Of course, Mr. Morgan's home must be special. Everyone's usually curious about it. Finally getting to see it for real."
"Don't let my brother's serious demeanor fool you - the home is very warm. My sister-in-law has made it super comfortable!"
"Sophia, do you know Levi?"
From their conversation, it seemed Sophia was pretty familiar with Levi.
Faye jumped in. "Oh, I forgot to tell you, Blair. Sophia's taking over my old position now. She was interning and asked me for help. Since I wasn't going anymore, I recommended her."
"Still as a secretary?"
"Yes."
I parked the car. We were home.
I looked at Sophia in the rearview mirror. She was Levi's secretary now.
"Sophia, Mr. Morgan is on a business trip. Do you know his exact schedule?"
I asked as I closed the car door.
Sophia smiled at me politely. "Blair, we don't know Mr. Morgan's schedule this time. Nobody at the company knows."
Faye poked her shoulder. "From now on, if there's anything about my brother, you can tell my sister-in-law, haha."
"This is Mrs. Morgan, right? Look at me, just now realizing that."
"My sister-in-law is really open-minded, like a sister to me." Faye warmly introduced me.
This made my image seem even more impressive.
I took Celestia's hand. "Come on, let's go eat."
Sophia admired the yard, exclaiming, "Faye, I'm so honored. If I told them I came to Mr. Morgan's house, they'd definitely be jealous."
"Don't tell them. My brother doesn't like people gossiping about him. Also, you can't gossip about my sister-in-law, or we won't even be friends anymore."
"Okay, I understand. I promise I won't say anything."
Celestia tilted her head and asked me, "Mom, why hasn't Hayden been going to the Morgan Mansion lately?"
"Probably at your grandmother's house."
"Mom, I kind of miss Grandpa and Grandma, too. They seemed to leave right after the holidays."
"Yeah, if they come to pick you up, you can go if you want."
Celestia jumped happily. "Great! Then I can play with Hayden again."
We got to the dining room first. Faye took Sophia to the guest room to drop off her luggage.
I don't like prying into other people's private matters, so I didn't ask Sophia about her family. Faye liked making friends, and since she'd already brought Sophia to the Morgan mansion, it should be fine.
Besides, she was technically Levi's secretary now.
"Mrs. Morgan, we have a guest?"
"Yes, Faye's friend. She works at Levi's company."
Indigo said cautiously, "Is that appropriate? She shouldn't go around talking about your relationship, right?"
I wasn't sure either, though Faye had already warned her.
"Should be fine."
"Is she staying at our house? If word gets out, won't people misunderstand her relationship with Mr. Morgan?"
What Indigo thought of, I'd naturally thought of too.
When Faye said Sophia was Levi's secretary, I'd already realized that if someone made up rumors, it would be pretty troublesome.
"Blair, what's good to eat today? I could smell it from the door."
Faye and Sophia came in hand in hand. Indigo turned to bring out the dishes, and our conversation ended.
I'd made up my mind. Since she was Faye's friend, I'd give her face and let Sophia stay for now.
"Sophia, you sit here. I'll sit in my brother's seat."
Celestia giggled. "Auntie Faye, be careful if Dad finds out."
"Even if he knows, he can't do anything to me. Don't you believe in Auntie Faye's power?" Faye touched Celestia's nose, her eyes full of affection.
Sophia sat down slowly, a bit stiff.
"No need to be nervous. Everyone, dig in."
Faye gave Sophia a shrimp. "Try this, my brother's favorite."
"Mr. Morgan likes shrimp."
Whenever Sophia mentioned "Mr. Morgan," my nerves tensed up. I lowered my head and took a bite of rice, telling myself not to be too sensitive.
"My brother likes light flavors. This sweet and sour one today - Indigo probably made it specially knowing I was coming back."
Indigo brought out the juice. "Faye, you're too kind. These are just home-cooked dishes. As long as you like them."
Faye picked up the juice and took a big gulp. "Indigo, don't be modest about your cooking. Nobody at the Morgan mansion is better than you."
"You're flattering me. The Morgan mansion has professional chefs."
Indigo looked at me. "Mrs. Morgan, take your time. I'll head down now."
"Okay."
Sophia suddenly sighed. "Blair, you're so gentle. At the company, when people talk about Mrs. Morgan sometimes, they say Mrs. Morgan must be a career woman powerhouse."
I smiled. "Do they think only a career woman powerhouse could match Levi?"
"No, no, I'm just saying you're different from what they imagined. You're gentle and beautiful..."
"Just eat, haha. My sister-in-law has plenty of good qualities - you don't need to list them all."
Faye added food to her plate, blocking her mouth.
I could see that Sophia was simple-minded, just a new graduate interning in the workplace.
