Chapter 128

Chapter 128

I was supposed to take Levi to the hospital for a checkup.

But he refused. He said he hated hospitals and hated the smell of disinfectant.

The car stopped at the entrance of Cleo's place, and she got out with Hayden.

"If you can't take care of the kid properly, just send him to Grandpa's." Levi was really worried sick. Every time, his sister just ignored what he said.

Cleo looked pitiful. "It's not that I can't take care of him. I need my own space too."

"I've already replaced the nanny. I called over someone reliable from the Morgan mansion. Since you're the child's mother, you need to take responsibility."

This shouldn't need to be said - it's a mother's instinct.

"I know."

Cleo also felt guilty. You could tell she really hated Michael this time.

"Also, tell the child the truth. Don't sugarcoat it, or he won't be able to tell right from wrong and might end up seeing his enemy as his father."

"You can't really say it like that. After all..."

"Do what you want."

Levi closed the car door. He must be disappointed. After all this time, his sister was still protecting Michael, still making excuses for him.

How many fathers in this world would toy with their own child like that? Maybe Cleo didn't see it? Maybe she thought Michael taking the child was no big deal.

"Let me bandage that for you."

I had the driver get the medical kit earlier. Levi had a wound on his forehead.

"Let's just go to the hospital."

I was really worried. What if he got tetanus? That would be serious.

Levi smiled. "It's not that bad. I'll just bandage it up at home."

"Promise me, we'll take care of it as soon as we get home."

"Okay."

He squinted at me. "Where did you go so early this morning? How did you find that place?"

I clutched my bag, trying to stay calm.

"I went to the office to get something. Cleo called to tell me Hayden was missing and sent me the address. My office is close to there, so I got there first."

Levi closed his eyes and didn't say anything more.

He drank too much last night and probably didn't rest well. He was still sleeping soundly when I left. He must have been woken up by Cleo's call, too, which messed up his sleep.

......

As soon as we got home, Indigo brought over the medical kit.

She asked worriedly, "What happened? How did Mr. Morgan get hurt?"

I said quietly, "He got into a fight with Michael."

"Oh my God, it looks pretty bad. Maybe we should go to the hospital after all." Indigo looked at Levi's injury with a troubled expression.

"Don't worry, I'll apply medicine and bandage it first, and keep an eye on it. If things get worse, I'll take him to the hospital right away." I took the medical kit and went upstairs.

Indigo muttered quietly, "This boy has hated going to the hospital since he was little."

Before I could apply the medicine, he went ahead and cleaned the wound himself.

I had just pushed the door open when I saw him come out after wiping his face, with water droplets still on his hair.

"Why did you wash it first? What if it gets infected..."

"Don't make a big deal out of it. This little injury is nothing."

Levi smiled at me, as if he were really tough.

I frowned, feeling all mixed up inside.

"You should have dodged. You even let him hit you back." I said while dipping a cotton swab in iodine.

I gently wiped his wound. His mouth twitched, but he quickly pretended that nothing happened.

It clearly hurt.

Levi suddenly teased, "You're really dedicated, going to the office even on your day off."

This was just an excuse I made up casually, and now he brought it up again. Maybe he was just trying to change the subject so I wouldn't worry about his injury.

I didn't go to the office at all. I went to the hospital for a checkup. Should I tell him this news now?

What would his reaction be?

I was very, very close to him, and suddenly I had a crazy impulse.

I closed my eyes and kissed him gently on the forehead.

Levi's head moved slightly, then stayed still.

I shyly turned my face away, pretending to organize the medical kit.

"Not bandaging the hand?"

Levi's words broke my embarrassment. I turned around and smiled. "If you're going to be nice, might as well go all the way. Besides, this little thing isn't hard for me."

He smirked. "We're family, no need to be sneaky about it. I'm very generous."

I rubbed his hand hard a couple of times, then pressed the gauze on and quickly taped it up.

Seeing I wasn't saying anything, he teased again, "Shy?"

I got flustered. "You're about to be a dad again..."

Levi's phone rang, interrupting me. I was just about to tell him he was going to be a father again, and he was still teasing me without being serious.

"Hello?"

"Mr. Morgan, the jewelry we stockpiled now has a good sales channel. Do you want to sell?"

The volume was quite loud, so I heard it.

"No."

"Mr. Morgan, the price is very good. You stockpiled so much - what if it sits on your hands?"

The other person was genuinely thinking of him.

I knew they were talking about "Star." Michael's company's sales had dropped these past few days, and our two companies were now neck and neck.

Apart from Levi's moves, it would be hard for Michael's company to surpass us.

"Sell it. The price is high now. Sell it and buy good food for Celestia."

I said quietly. I thought now was the best time.

Levi thought for a moment. "Sell everything in the warehouse, but don't touch what's at my house."

"I'll send you the account number. Go handle it."

Levi hung up the phone. I saw him enter my account number in a message.

"Hey, why are you..."

"You're the one who told me to sell, so the income goes to you."

What kind of weird logic was this? If Levi wanted to give me money, he didn't have to do it this way. He clearly bought it all with his own money, and now that he could break even and make some profit, it was going into my pocket?

This really felt like I bought my own stuff and then put the money in my own pocket.

If Nola found out about this, she'd tease me again.

"Working on your day off - this is what you deserve."

Levi brought it up again. Did he know something? Why did he keep mentioning this?

"Today I..."

"I'm going to the study."

We both spoke at the same time. Levi stopped and waited for me to finish, but when I heard he was going to be busy, I didn't continue.

I should find the right moment to tell him about the pregnancy. There's a saying that once you're three months pregnant, the baby is stable.

Call me superstitious if you want, but actually, I just haven't figured it out yet.

At first, I was still hesitating about whether to keep this pregnancy, but there are two little lives in my belly now - how could I bear not to have them?

Levi wouldn't not want them, right?

Our relationship isn't that bad. Without outside interference, we're actually quite happy. Although we're polite to each other, my feelings for him have grown even deeper.

Like just now when I was bandaging him, I had the urge to kiss him. This crazy desire is my love for him.

When my love is no longer restrained and reserved, I know clearly that his place in my heart is forever.
