22. break their neck on a hockey field
The football pitch at our high school was illuminated by Friday night lights, creating lengthy shadows on the recently painted pitch as they passed through the crowded stands. The cool air was alive with excitement as the Lions, took on the Jaguars.
When Vince came out from the stands with Anderson behind him we yelled and cheered for them.
The three of us were seated somewhere in the middle, not very visible to the team so when the Jaguars came out I was surprise to see Charles spot me that quickly. Natasha was sitting on the first bench wearing the sluttiest outfit known, her ass was out and her top was as good as a bra. She jumped up and down when she saw Charles but when she followed his eyeline towards me she scowled. Suck it skank.
Vince and Anderson saw the little staring exchange too but before they could do anything the whistle for the toss was announced.
The Jaguars were dressed in black and red, while the Lions were dressed in blue and gold. The Jaguars won the coin toss and decided to take the pitch first.
The start of the game was quite intense. Vince, the Jaguars' running back, fielded the kickoff and raced down the field, dodging tackles with a subtle touch. The Jaguars had great field position after he was eventually taken down at the Lions' 30-yard line. The Jaguars quarterback, Anderson, found wide receiver Mike Thompson with a pinpoint pass on the following play, and he danced into the end zone to score the opening touchdown. The scoreboard lighted up and the Jaguars fans cheered: Jaguars 7, Lions 0.
the Lions did responded with stealth, I knew their team as I sat in on their many practices. Quarterback, dickhead ex with an ass for a hat, Charles Kimmerman led a methodical drive down the field, mixing short passes with powerful runs by the Lions’ star running back, Lucas Grant, dickheads trusted pig. Facing a third and goal at the 5-yard line, Kimmerman faked a handoff to Grant and kept the ball himself, diving into the end zone for a touchdown. The extra point was good, tying the game at 7-7.
Both sides continued to trade blows throughout the first half. With plenty of cover from the Jaguars' offensive line, Anderson was able to locate open receivers and maintain the rhythm of the play. Marcus Reynolds, the linebacker for the Lions, led the defence in making critical tackles and an important pick to stop another Jaguars touchdown. The score was level at 21-21 at halftime, which created the right atmosphere for an exciting second half.
The girls and I got hot dogs and munched on it. This is was intresting but I was a bit distracted by my ex giving me a dirty glance after every play.
“is it just me or is Charles like seriously holding a grudge?” Mila asked between bites.
“I mean he has her name carved on his back.” Payton said, “do you blame him?”
“he's a wuss, if it were me I would’ve carved over it by now” I replied.
“well, actually same, why do you think he didn’t?” Mila asked
“he likes to hold a grudge.” I shrugged and smirked back at the 3 boys staring.
“you're lying.” Payton said and I looked at her in surprise. How did she know.
“I know because I'm the best at finding out everyone’s tell.” She shrugged.
“that’s impossible, I don’t have a tell.” I knew very well I don’t, as I have been trained to be a psychotic torturer.
“you don’t but sometimes you go into a deep thought after a few words, and I don’t know why this time I just got a feeling you were thinking about the real reason your ex still has your name” Payton said
“well, because of that guess I'll tell you guys.” They both leaned in, “Charles is afraid of knives.” I laughed
“how is that even possible” mila exclaimed
“he can use it on others, don’t get me wrong, but he hates when someone comes close to him with it. He hides it will too. It’s the only think he’s scared of.”
“you were right, he is a wuss” mila said and looked towards the field again.
The defence was on display in the third quarter. Both sides tightened up defensively, which resulted in several punts and three-and-outs. Anderson was twice sacked by the Lions' defensive line, which was led by defensive end Sam Carter. Anderson was always under pressure. The Jaguars' secondary, which was captained by cornerback Alex Rivera, surrounded the Lions' receivers, making Harmon constantly scramble. The Lions took the lead thanks to a well-made extra point.
This was the Jaguars' last opportunity. With a string of precise passes and an essential fourth-down transform to Vince, Anderson guided his team down the field. With thirty seconds remaining and the ball at the Lions' 15-yard line. Anderson intercepted Reynolds as he dodged his leap, giving the Lions the victory.
The Lions' fans celebrated their strong win by flooding the pitch as the final whistle blew. The scoreboard read: Lions 28, Jaguars 21.
We fucked them up even if it was close. The stands erupted in laughter and excitement as the final whistle blew, with cheers and applause echoing throughout the stadium in celebration of the Lincoln Lions' hard-fought victory. Suckers.
