Chapter 51

The moment the car entered the compound, Diego noticed plenty of people gathering around the studio where Percy was supposed to be working. He knew something bad must have happened because there were two police cars parked right in front of the studio, as well. He rushed to the front of the car and pressed on the emergency brake before rushing out from inside the vehicle toward the police officers. Rohan was right behind him.

“What’s going on?” Diego asked one of the police officers, a female alpha.

The woman narrowed her eyes at him. “Who are you?”

“Diego Lawson,” he said before pointing at Rohan. “And he’s Rohan Adams. We’re Percy’s boyfriends. Percy Watts, I mean. Where is he? Is he all right?”

The female alpha’s expression immediately softened. “I’m Naomi Yang. I’m sorry, Mr. Lawson. Percy is missing at the moment. We have reason to believe he may have been abducted.”

Rohan growled. “Missing? What the fuck do you mean by—”

“Babe!” Diego shouted and quickly grabbed Rohan’s hand when he noticed his boyfriend’s canines lengthening. “You need to calm down.”

Rohan narrowed his eyes at Diego. “I can’t! Percy is—”

“I’m just as anxious as you, but you’re not helping any. The spiciness of your anger is affecting all of us alphas.” Diego looked around at some of the alphas, most of whom seemed to be growing rather stiff and tense, before focusing all of his attention back on Rohan. “You’ve got to suppress some of your rage.”

“I can’t,” Rohan hissed while his eyes were gradually reddening.

Diego stood in front of Rohan, who was trembling from the overflowing amount of angry pheromones that were leaking out, and gripped both of his boyfriend’s biceps. “Baby, Look into my eyes. Come on! You can do this. This is me, Diego. Percy isn’t here, but I am. Recognize my scents.”

Rohan’s body continued to vibrate, obviously still furious. Fortunately, he hadn’t snapped yet, and Diego counted that as a small victory. He slowly squeezed and rubbed Rohan’s arms in a gentle, circular motion. After what felt like an eternity, the whites of Rohan’s eyes became visible bit by bit, and Diego heaved out a soft sigh of relief. He almost chuckled when Rohan hugged him. Then Rohan pressed his nose against Diego’s nose and inhaled deeply.

“Thanks.”

Diego smiled a little. “You’re welcome. Are you okay now?”

Rohan nodded. “Yeah. I think I am.”

Diego pulled back and gently patted Rohan’s left shoulder before swiveling around to face Naomi once again. “What happened to Percy?”

“We’re trying to figure that out. According to some of the people in the studio, there was a fifteen-minute break in recording while they set up the cameras for the final segment. Percy was supposed to bake some pastries in the kitchen, but when they got to his dressing room and knocked on the door, he didn’t respond. They entered the room, but they couldn’t find him anywhere. His things are still in his dressing room, though. However, there may have been a minor scuffle because some of the mirrors were cracked. In addition, some of Percy’s things were strewn all over the floor. My colleagues and I are still trying to find out exactly what happened.”

Diego was about to ask if there was anything he and Rohan could do to assist when another police officer approached Naomi. The two police officers whispered to each other, and Diego waited impatiently for them to finish. Eventually, Naomi turned back to him and Rohan.

“What is it?” Rohan asked before Diego could.

“Do you know somebody named Jacob King?”

“Yes,” Diego answered immediately. “I mean, Ro and I don’t know the guy personally, but we’ve seen him around often enough. Why?”

“He can’t be found either. Everyone else who is supposed to be here in the compound has been accounted for.”

Diego clenched his fists. “Are you saying he was the one who abducted Percy?”

“It’s quite likely.”

Diego was shocked. The answer hadn’t come from Naomi. Instead, it was Gregory who’d spoken. In fact, Gregory and Ashton had approached them.

“Hey, Diego, Rohan. Ash and I were being questioned earlier by the police so we couldn’t get away. Anyway, I think the culprit may just be Jake. Ash and I have always thought he’s been infatuated with Percy.”

“But Percy doesn’t agree with us,” Ashton added.

Rohan nodded before looking at Naomi. “What are you going to do now?”

“My colleague and I will go to Jacob’s place. We’ll also pay his family a visit. Then we can proceed from there.”

“Can we tag along?” Diego quickly asked.

Naomi shook her head. “You can’t go in the police cars with us, sir. I’m sorry. I’ll update you as soon as I can.”

She walked away and Diego stared at her retreating back. He could have sworn she must have winked at him or something before she left. He thought about her parting words and laughed. Rohan, Ashton, and Gregory gaped at him. No doubt they thought he’d lost his mind. Rohan glared at him.
