Chapter 29: Bonus Chapter — We Belong With Each Other
"How is uncle doing now? Is he eating well?"
Eva asked through the phone.
"Yes, I am taking good care of him." Kasie replied.
"And how are you? Are you getting enough rest?"
"Yes, Eric is talking good care of me."
Eva chuckled.
"And how about Eric?"
Kasie sighed. "I am taking good care of him too."
"An—
"Oh god Eva, I insisted you to go on a vacation to enjoy not to call every 5 minutes and over work that small brain of yours." Kasie told off Eva.
"But—
"No take care of yourself, don't stress about here. Bye bye bye." Kasie hung off the phone.
Eva sighed and chuckled at her sister’s childish behaviour.
"You done? Let's go on a walk please?"
Alex whined.
"Okay give me 5 minutes to get ready." Eva said throwing her phone on the bed and getting clothes to change.

"So, this is where you lived for 2 years." Alex scanned the scenery around, they were walking around the lake side area.
They were on an evening walk, the sun was setting down while colouring the sky with its bright orange dye, the lake beneath the sky reflected the ongoing beautiful change as calmly as it could.
"It's beautiful. Isn't it?"
Eva's eye sparkled as her eyes captured the same orange world around her.
Alex looked at his side, he saw how Eva's eyes literally shined in that moment.
"It is indeed but not as much as you."
It didn't even take a moment for Eva's relaxed expression to change into that of an astounded expression.
"What is wrong with you today? Since this morning you are being cheesy and nothing else."
"Oh, now I can't even say my girlfriend is beautiful?"
Alex gasped dramatically.
"Stop it. If one more cheesy line drops from that mouth of yours, I will literally beat you up." Eva flustered, seeing that as a chance Alex smirked.
"Aww come on. You know you like me being cheesy."
Eva's crimson cheeks turned an even darker shade of red, as if that was even possible. It was true she liked it every time he was being clingy, cheesy or was spoiling her, but she won't admit to it.
Because she knows if she admits it, there won't be the end to Alex's silliness.
Without a word she fastened her steps and got ahead of him.
"Hey, why are you running away?"
Alex extended his hand but couldn't reach her as she was already far ahead.
Eva turned back and teased him by showing her tongue playfully.
"Don't try to catch up."
Eva was about to turn around again when she bumped into somebody.
"Sorry." They both said in a unison.
"Eva...is that you?!" She knew who the person was before she even looked at him.
'Here we go again.' She mentally rolled her eyes.
He was Kevin, one of her former classmates and beside him were Sally, Amanda and Sam.
"Yes. It's me."
"You are back? Why didn't you tell us or tell me?" Kevin enthusiastically stated and tried to hug her, only for Eva to be pulled back by a pair of hands.
Kevin and the others looked at the person. It was Alex; his deep brown eyes stared at them as if he was trying to read them.
"And who might you be?" Kevin raises one of his eyebrows, with a cocky expression.
"Hy, I am Alex. Eva's boyfriend." Alex extended his hand with a political smile on his face.
Kevin shook his hand until realisation hit him.
"Wait did I hear that right? Boyfriend?" Kevin glanced towards Eva for her to confirm it.
She nodded with a smile.
"You must be kidding right? You have a boyfriend? Eva Maggot has a boyfriend?!"
He said in a mocking tone.
"What is so funny?" Alex demanded.
"Oh, it's nothing, just a funny story popped in my head." Kevin smirked.
"Oh, the one when we went to camping site?" Amanda added.
Eva knew this would happen, that's why she wanted to avoid running into Kevin at all costs, but fate is a funny thing huh?
"Would you mind sharing it, so we could laugh too?" Alex tried to look a bit interested in his story.
"Oh, it's just that everyone in our class used to think Eva had a crush on me because she used to act so shy around me and during our camping trip, she was dared to kiss me but instead she ran away looking all red." Kevin looked all proud for nothing.
Eva gave him a forced pursed lip smile.
"As far as my memory serves right, it was only you who thought that."
"No all of us thought that isn't that right Amanda?" Sally added.
Eva mentally rolled her eyes; of course, how could she forget these two.
"Oh, so you mean you didn't run away during that dare because you were shy?" Kevin raised his shoulders, inserting his hands on the pockets of his jeans.
"Bruhh, I rejected you when you confessed." Eva sighed, her frustration had reached it's limit, but she kept it in.
"Oh now that you mention it, what happened to your unrequited love? Did that change or?" Sally said eyeing Alex, giving him a flirty smile every once in a while.
"Or maybe if you used a bit of your brain, you would have put it together and guessed the person was me." Alex snaked his arms on Eva's waist pulling her closer, making Sally frown.
"Guys, let's change the topic, why don't we go somewhere fun huh?" Sam stepped in trying to relieve the stress in the atmosphere.
Alex glanced at Eva trying to ask what she wanted to do.
"Thank you for the offer Sam but we are tired. We will pass." Eva tried to be as polite as possible as he was the only guy that was good in the gang.
"Come on it's just for a while." Kevin pressed.
"Yeah it's not like we will eat your boyfriend." Sally added.
"No." Eva said bluntly.
"Bu—"
"She just said no. You guys don't understand human language or are you just plain dumb?" Alex came in front of Eva.
"Dude no need to be serious. We just wanted to hang out." Kevin defended.
"But she doesn't want to. Is your upper floor empty to not understand it once?"
Alex clasped Eva's hand. "Let's go baby."
Eva followed him bidding bye to Sam, to which he replied with a smile.
"Alex slow down. I can't keep up." Eva whined, making Alex stop on his tracks and turn back.
"Sorry, I was just irritated with your friends."
"It's okay but you could have been a bit kind."
"With people like them? Nobody acts like that to what belongs to me. They should be thankful I didn't shoot them. " Alex pushed his hair back frustrated, making Eva chuckle.
"Okay fine. But I don't belong to you either okay? You are you; I am me. Sure, we are lovers, but we don't own each other. There are things that only we are allowed to do with each other, but we have our own social life, okay?"
Eva chimed at Alex.
"But you are my girlfriend and I have right to stand up for you." Alex responded.
"Of course, you have." Eva nodded her head rapidly agreeing with him, making him chuckle.
"After all we may not own each other but we belong with each other."
