Chapter 183
Eve’s POV
After hearing this, my expression became rather serious. I sighed. "Are you being too optimistic? I have no idea how to escape from this godforsaken place."
"Murphy once said that if you could really escape from this place, you would most likely be able to do it."
I fell silent after hearing that.
Since I came here, I'd felt powerless many times.
At first, I'd formulated a strategy, hoping to rely on "betting my life" to obtain Holy Grails, but then I encountered Beta Bull, who would cost lives in games.
Later, Daniel and Candy died under my watchful eyes. Even though I was extremely reluctant, I was simply powerless to stop them.
Now, I'd intended to team up with Murphy to discuss the next steps.
But Murphy was also dead.
I could only be forced to team up with Clara.
But what kind of person was Clara exactly?
"Clara, can I ask you a few questions?"
"Ask me a few questions?" Clara thought for a moment. "Alright, as long as it doesn't involve privacy, you can ask."
"What's the reason you have to get out?"
"I..." Clara found this question rather interesting. "Even if I had no reason to get out, I wouldn't be willing to stay here, would I?"
I nodded and asked again, "Do you think 'killing for Holy Grails' is feasible?"
"Kill to seize Holy Grails..." Clara rested her chin on her hand, carefully considered the issue, then replied seriously, "I think this approach is feasible, but I don't want to do it. After all, killing is a federal felony."
I thought for a while then said, "Okay, the last question... have you made any mistakes?"
"Made a mistake?" Clara was taken aback. "Do you mean crime?"
"It has nothing to do with 'law,'" I said. "It's that kind of mistake that can change your entire life's course, one that makes you regret it deeply, one that makes you feel extremely sorry, and one that makes you spend the rest of your life paying debts."
Clara's eyes suddenly turned cold. She stared at me intently. "What do you mean? Does this issue have anything to do with our team formation?"
She didn't answer, but I already knew the answer.
It seemed everything originated in the first game.
Everyone told a lie.
Including me.
"Okay, I see. Let's act together." I nodded and reached out my hand to Clara.
Clara gave me a suspicious look and slowly reached out her hand, shaking it with me.
When Walter saw my performance, he felt like an outsider again, as if it would take some effort to integrate into this small group.
Walter knew I was no ordinary person. If he acted with me, the chance of obtaining Holy Grails would increase significantly.
Thinking of this, Walter stepped forward and gave a simple smile. "Since the person has been found, should I leave now?"
I said indifferently, "No."
"Huh?" Walter was slightly stunned. "Lady, aren't you going to keep me?"
"There's no need for that." I turned around and sat down slowly, continuing to look at the lighter in my hand.
Walter stood there, looking embarrassed.
He turned his head to look at Lila again, with a hint of expectation still in his eyes.
Lila knew me too well. I didn't want to keep a stranger by my side.
After all, what happened to Daniel and Candy before was caused by that stranger named Clarissa Hale, so Lila didn't pay any attention to Walter.
Seeing that Lila didn't respond for a long time, Walter could only look at Clara again.
So he bent down to Clara's side, wrapped her clothes tighter for her. "Girl, I'm leaving now. You have to take good care of yourself."
To Walter's surprise, Clara was even more cold-blooded than Lila.
"Uncle, don't worry about it," Clara said coldly. "By the way, I'd like to clarify that please don't touch me unless it's an emergency or medical situation."
"You..." Walter was so angry his teeth itched, but he had nothing to say. After all, it was he himself who proposed to leave.
This time it was Walter's turn to be reluctant to part.
He walked toward the door, looking back every few steps, only to find no one had tried to stop him. So he could only go outside in a bad mood.
Just as he was about to leave, Walter suddenly remembered something and hurriedly stepped back. "I discovered a game this morning that requires a team of four to participate in... are you interested?"
Hearing this, Lila and Clara both looked at me.
I slowly raised my head, thought for three seconds then asked, "What animal?"
Seeing that I was indeed interested in Holy Grails, he simply plopped down.
"Hehe, it's a dog!" Walter said. "This is a game to test our team's coordination. There must be no problem!"
"Dog?" I was taken aback and lowered my head, lost in thought for a while.
"Dog" was a "team cooperation" type of game. Lila and Clara weren't fools, and they would follow my instructions. There was no problem cooperating with them. The only variable was Walter in front of me.
I stared at Walter with a complicated expression, as if pondering the feasibility of team games.
"Lady, what's wrong with you? Don't you believe me?" Walter was getting a little anxious. "I've said it before. The closer it gets to critical moments, the smarter I become!"
"Walter, could you agree to one of my requests?" I asked.
"Sure! You say!"
"When playing the game, everything follows my instructions."
Walter rolled his eyes after hearing this then nodded. "Okay. What else?"
"That's it. Just this one request."
"Hey, I thought it was something!" Walter smiled and waved his hand. "Don't worry. We'll follow your lead then."
I always felt it was unreliable and instructed again, "Maybe I'll make decisions that seem very strange, but if you want to win the game, you must listen to me."
"Oh, I see!" Walter nodded seriously.
Seeing Walter's serious expression, I stopped pestering him and turned to Clara's side. "Are you full?"
"Yeah." Clara picked up a relatively clean piece of waste paper from the ground and carefully wiped the oil stains off her hands.
"Although it may sound a bit inappropriate to say so, would you like to change into Murphy's clothes?" I said.
Clara was taken aback upon hearing this. She looked at her soaked clothes then at Murphy's blood-stained T-shirt. After a moment of thought, she shook her head.
"I have an obsession with cleanliness. Just let me wear this."
