Chapter 185 A Promise That Will Never Change

Chapter 185 A Promise That Will Never Change
“Actually, I didn’t want to use a way like this, but according to Tomi, a girl needs certainty. So, even though this feels silly to me, I’ll still do it for you.”

Wait a minute. Seeing Kenn’s unusual behavior and the way his words were heading in that direction, oh my God, could it be that Kenn was about to confess his love to me?

“Kenn, what do you actually want to say?” I asked, my voice trembling with anticipation.

“I love you.”

I was stunned. My heart seemed to stop beating. Was this real?

“Will you accept my love, Frel?” Kenn said again. His face showed deep anxiety. “Why are you just staying silent? Say something, Frel. My heart is already beating uncontrollably while waiting for your answer.”

I was still staring at him with my mouth hanging open in shock.

“Frel? You’re not planning to reject me again, are you?” This time, fear was clearly visible in his eyes. “Don’t make me feel like a fool standing here alone.”

Somehow, I felt happy knowing how big Kenn’s hopes were for me. Without realizing it, I smiled to myself.

“Answer me, you idiot!” he suddenly shouted.

My eyes immediately widened sharply at him. “What did you say? You called me an idiot? Are you confessing your love or not!” I snapped angrily.

Who confesses their love while calling the person they like an idiot? He was really annoying.

He was startled. His head reflexively moved back. “Okay, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean it like that, Frel. I’m just nervous, try to understand a little. I’ve never done this before.”

Kenn turned his back to me, then roughly scratched his hair. “Damn, why did this turn into such a mess?” he muttered softly, still loud enough for me to hear.

I narrowed my eyes while observing his strange behavior. “WHATEVER! YOU ALREADY YELLED AT ME! I’M MAD AT YOU NO MATTER—”

THUMP!

Suddenly, my world seemed to stop. My eyes widened completely. I must be hallucinating. Kenn turned back toward me and … kissed me.

Kenn kissed me.

I froze, confused about what to do. Wasn’t I supposed to be angry? Should I push him away?

“Kenn, what are you doing?” I whispered between my hurried breaths.

However, when our lips met, the feeling was so pleasant.

I felt Kenn’s hand pull my waist closer, erasing the distance between us.

“Be quiet, Frel. Let me show you how much I want you,” he whispered softly before bringing our lips together again.

He lowered his head, kissing me gently and tenderly. Without realizing it, I closed my eyes. My face felt hot. A jolt of electricity seemed to strike through my bloodstream, and my chest thundered violently. My heart was beating so fast that I wondered if I was having a heart attack.

When Kenn pulled away, I felt like running away out of embarrassment. I was sure my cheeks were burning red by now.

“Don’t look down. I want to see your face,” he teased in a low voice.

I immediately looked into his deep, calm eyes.

“I may not be able to guarantee your happiness, because there might be times when you curse me for all my annoying behavior. But I can promise you one thing. My feelings for you will never change,” Kenn said.

He looked at me warmly with a sincere smile. “I hope you believe me, no matter how long it takes, I will never leave you. I won’t let anyone hurt you, Frel,” he continued without releasing his hold on my waist.

I stared at Kenn without blinking. “Are you serious? You’re not practicing a drama script, are you?”

Kenn let out a long breath, then gently brushed his thumb across my cheek. “Do my eyes look like I’m acting, Frel? I even had to gather all my courage just to stand in front of you right now. For me, this isn’t a drama script. This is the most exhausting honesty if I keep it to myself,” he said, his gaze locking onto mine.

Even though my neck felt stiff from looking up for so long, I forced myself to endure it to keep the moment going.

Who would have thought that a guy as cold as Kenn could be this romantic? He could pour out his feelings and say such sweet promises. If I had known it would be like this, I should have recorded this moment and stored it in a museum.

“So, is my confession accepted?” Kenn asked once again in a heavy, deep voice.

Without hesitation, I nodded firmly and smiled sweetly at him. “Yes, Kenn. Because it’s not only you who feels that way. I do too.”

"What do you mean?"

“I love you too, Kenn.”

We looked at each other and exchanged smiles. Kenn kissed me again, but this time on my forehead. He did it long enough that suddenly my stomach growled.

I felt extremely embarrassed.

Kenn immediately burst into loud laughter. “Looks like this romantic moment has to lose to your hunger, huh?” he teased.

Luckily, it was just the two of us here. A few seconds later, he stopped laughing and shook his head, even though traces of laughter still lingered on his lips.

I glared sharply at him while folding my arms across my chest. “Stop laughing or I’ll change my mind!” I threatened.

He chuckled, ruffling the top of my head. “Come on, I don’t want my new girlfriend to faint from hunger.”

Then he immediately guided me toward the second gazebo located behind the piano. I had only just noticed the existence of that smaller gazebo because it had previously been blocked by the large piano.

My face instantly brightened when I saw the row of delicious dishes in front of me.

“Wow, all of this is for me?”

From my past experience at Tomi’s restaurant, Kenn knew that I was the most enthusiastic person when it came to food. Maybe that was why he had ordered so many delicious dishes for me this time.

“Eat as much as you like. I’ve ordered everything you like,” Kenn said as he pulled out a chair for me. “Don’t leave anything, or I’ll feed you by force.”

His intention was good, but the way he spoke could still be annoying at times.

Well, wasn’t his sharp tongue just part of who he was? From now on, it seemed I would have to get used to Kenn’s spicy way of speaking. And I didn’t mind it at all.

We were officially in a relationship. That was what mattered most.

I couldn’t wait to go through each day with Kenn, even though I knew this relationship might hurt someone. I could only pray that time would heal everything.

As time went by, I hoped Kevan would accept me as his little sister, allow me to receive a new family in my life, and help me make the right decision regarding Claretta, my mother.
