"When I was twelve, the city had a huge carnival setup. It was almost like I had found something so exciting that I could not help but beg my parents to go." Rose buried herself closer to Ares who was laying beneath her, his arms warming up her side urging her to continue, that he was listening.
"And at the end of the day I had wished that I had never left my house." The body embracing her got tense at that, Ares had never known Rose to be so serious, she was always so bubbly that It was hard imagining her any other way.
"There is no girl out there who hasn't been touched inappropriately. I-Its like a curse, a f-feeling which make one numb. That day it was just a touch, a man old enough to be m-my grandfather pushed his hand under my skirt. It felt horrible, felt as if I was unable to breathe."
Ares stopped, his whole form frozen in rage from the shock her words brought, he was going to make that monster's whole form unrecognizable. How can something like that happen to his innocent baby, how come she never told him?
Rose had hazy memories of that day, it felt like a nightmare which she woke up from but the touch was still engraved on her body, vile and dirty, she sat on her bed for the whole night that day, thinking what had happened to her, she did not even understood it properly, from a second of smiles and joy it went to cold darkness.
Ares sat up transferring Rose automatically on his lap. His both hands cupped her frail face as he put his forehead against hers.
"Baby" He was in pain, sadness covering his whole form, how come his little princess never uttered a single word.
Rose melted into his form, her eyes drooping in comfort of him....her safe haven, where nothing could harm her.
"I was s-so afraid of people, I still am but the first time I saw y-you daddy, I thought.....I thought you would never even look at me, you were someone c-completely far away from me, a-away from what I represented....something dispensable.
I was a nobody Ares, I was just a girl who came out of nowhere...I thought you would be disgusted if I told you that I felt something for you, I thought you would hate me."
A large tear drop trailed down her eyes as Ares clutched Rose tightly, his own mouth sealed in horror of the way she had once perceived herself, she was none of that, she was his beautiful soulmate, how come he ever not love everything about her.
"I just.....thankyou, t-thankyou so much Ares. I know why I was raised the way I am, I was meant to be given to some mafia family as a business deal between two clans and my parents did not had any intentions to hide that truth from me, I knew......from the very beginning I was aware.
Once you told you that only y-you can bully me daddy but I can't even express in words how much I appreciate your presence, how much I value you. From the day you came into my life......I have lived a fairytale. If I were to lose you....I will die. There is no purpose of Rose if there is no Ares. I am a nothing without your love.
Today the way you have touched me.....I think I am clean....pure again, not dirtied. I feel happy, that i am a person worthy enough to have your love, that I am myself after so long. "
The first time she had seen him looking down at her in a stoic stare as she was standing at the door of Waylon Mansion she was unable to move, frozen into the place she thought he would ridicule her but he came down and took her suitcases, holding her tiny hand into his, he had guided her to her room right beside his.
"I w-wanted t-to tell you that, that I could not save myself for you, that someone else touched me."
When Rose buried her head in his chest sobbing, Ares trembled, the mafia prince who had never bowed down his head, drowned in sorrow, bowing his head infront of her.
"You will always be purer than the holy water for me Rose, never doubt that , never doubt your virtue. From the very beginning you were made for me Rose, weren't you?" she looked up at him with her crystal doe eyes as she nodded.
"Then do you realized that I was made for you as well? only you Rose , only made for you. Do you know what I think about you?" he did not waited for her to answer as his lips made contact with her soft cheek.
"I think my precious baby is an angel whom I am blessed with because you are everything that I can never be, you are a goddess baby" Ares watched the eyes of the girl glimmering, tears long forgotten as she looked up at him in awe as he cooed at her.
"My baby is so worthy, with or without me, you are a complete person Rose. you thought that I would hate you but have you ever seen yourself princess, you were so adorably confused that day, I might have clutched you to my heart and would have bound you at my side forever " his hands moved the black locks covering her beautiful face with an angelic halo, rubbing his cheek with hers like she always did.
"We will work upon everything slowly" Ares purposely avoided the topic of the monster who dared hurting his girl.
"As slow as my tiny toenail grows?"
"slower than that" he chuckled burying his face in her warm neck.
"Would you mind if I cage you?" extreme possessiveness hit him as he saw how endearing and precious his Rose was, he wouldn't mind carrying her everywhere in his arms if she was willing.
Rose giggled shyly as Ares kissed her soft wrist. When she buried her face in his chest she was not even aware of the upcoming massacre.
And neither was the world that would soon burn.
