Chapter 60 Chapter 61

Chapter 60 Chapter 61

ALPHA XANDER'S POV
My paws hit the ground with a vengeance as I ran through the pack, the events of the day made the usual traffic around the road free. I was more than happy for that, not sure I would have had the patience to not trample upon people that wasted my time.
I tried to pay attention to my surroundings while I ran but I found myself zoning out, still desperately trying to mindlink my sister and hear how she is doing. I couldn't get through to her, it felt like I was reaching the wall of someone that never existed. I didn't want to give that thought much truth. Because if that were the case, then I was most likely going to lose my mind and go on a killing rampage after that. Forget the damned wolves masking their scents, even if they removed their souls from their bodies in order to not be tracked, I was going to find them and I would kill every one of them.
The unsteady beat of my heart filled my ears, along with the ringing in my head. I could see the pack house in sight and I pushed myself further. Every second it was taking me to get there felt like years, and with that came the promise of doom. My whole system was on alert and even before I went in deeper, I knew something was wrong.
I stopped outside the main entrance, trying to think of the best way to get in without attracting the attention of the intruders. They could probably smell and hear me, I felt a sliver of pleasure at that. It was always good to know my prey knew of my presence. My mother always said I liked to play with my food before eating it.
I howled up at the sky, the sun brightening the sky, making it look pretty when everything down here looked ugly to me right now. I usually admired the sun and the relationship it had with the moon, but now I wanted nothing more than for the sky to be gray and let the heavens rain. I was about to make the earth bleed and the moon Goddess didn't like bloodshed on her lands, so it would be a blessing for her to wash it off.
"The available warriors are ready. We're waiting for you.' Donovan's voice filled my head. I didn't have the time to deal with him now, I was on a hunt and I wanted to fully enjoy my meal. He tried pushing back the barrier I put between us which annoyed me, it kept distracting me from the main issue I have at hand. If I don't reply to him, I know he simply wouldn't just give up and I would be left half focused. I wanted to take my full time.
'Keep them there. I'll be there in a moment.' I blocked him out after that. The only people I wanted to communicate with me were the gamma and the doctor. I had to do this quickly and get to the pack doctor to see what was going on there. I didn't know the state the pack was in and I wanted to know just how angry I should be. Daciana and Adriana came first though, it's why I'm here.
I wanted to burst through the front doors when I heard growling and grunting from the back of the house. I headed there, my steps no longer rushed like they were at first. The sounds of fighting didn't stop, only increasing the closer I got. It was either the people that were fighting didn't know it was me, or they simply didn't care. I was hoping it was the latter.
When I reached where they were, I heard a loud cry of pain. My blood boiled when I saw two large gray wolves over a familiar midnight black wolf. One was in the process of biting down her shoulder while the other kept her down. They were both males and the anger I felt toward them invading my pack faded when I saw this. Daciana whimpered in her wolf form when the larger wolf's canine dug deeper into her skin. He didn't want to just tear the skin off, he was severing the bone.
I growled, gaining their attention. My sister's cries died down as they both hopped off her. I craned my neck to the side, baring my canines at them. They both took slow tentative steps back. Daciana had shifted back to her human form, now lying in a fetus position. They noticed my eyes on her and the other, smaller wolf braved up and stepped closer, placing a single paw on her curled form.
They were holding her hostage was what he meant. I fought the urge to scoff, though I've already decided who was going to die first. I nodded toward the bigger wolf, the alpha. I couldn't sniff him out still, his aura couldn't be hidden though. His eyes looked around the open space, he was looking for an escape route.
It was an open courtyard, so everywhere was an escape for him. The only issue he had now was me, it didn't matter where he tried to follow, he would have to pass through me either way and he saw that. He turned toward his beta snarled, they were mindlinking. I watched them, assessing their every move.
Daciana has passed out and I wanted to get her out of here, I was cold outside and she wasn't wearing anything. Not to mention the two assholes now looking at her like she was a piece of meat. They must have realized they didn't have an escape and thought the only person that could help them escape was her. Their intentions were written clearly. While I wasn't really worried about them hurting her, I didn't like that they were seeing her like that. All the more reason for me to make sure they don't leave here alive. They should just hope to God they make it out in good enough shape to be identified by the coroner.
The beta places both of his paws beside Daciana's head, he was going to snap her neck, he proposed. I almost laughed but didn't, if they found it funny, they didn't show it. I gave him a slight head shake, telling him not to even think of it.
If they have forgotten whose pack they decided to die in, before they chose to attack, then they were in for a big surprise. I walked forward, my steps gentle and unhurried, letting them anticipate what I'm going to do. Something in them must have already told them they were not going to leave this place. the bigger wolf looked almost dejected, the other wolf still wasn't giving up.
I howled at the sun, choosing to do this in the one weakness I was sure he had. While I was at my strongest at night, it didn't make me any less weak in the afternoon. I took a tentative step forward and the bigger wolf made to retreat, seeing his alpha ready to betray him, the smaller one decided to stop playing the hero and turned around. Before they could get any further from me, I lunged at the bigger wolf first. Going straight for his jugular and ripping his throat out. The tangy taste of his blood filled my tongue, making me go feral. The other wolf visibly shook and made a run for it, choosing his flight instinct a little too late if I was being honest. It wasn't going to save him.
