ARIANA
The great Enzo De Luca was kneeling before me. It wasn't some dream I was having. He looked up at me. His eyes showed me something I thought I would never see in him. I saw a broken man kneeling before his wife, begging her for something, as if it was his salvation.
I would never have thought that his submission could somehow bring me peace. Or maybe that mad had broken me to the point that his submission was pleasurable for me. “There is no reason for you to believe me. I never gave you one. But just this once, let me help you. Let me heal you. I am selfish and I will always be. But you never were.” His eyes were filled with tears as if he could feel my pain. And I saw anger in his eyes. That was for himself.
I knelt down on the ground right in front of him. “What if you don't let me go after you are done? What if you change your mind after the treatments are complete?” I asked him, my voice cracked in the middle.
Enzo raised his hand to touch my face but I turned my face. There were too many walls in between us at that point. Letting him touch me was out of options. He grabbed my hand instead and placed it on his chest, right above his heart. “Then you will have the right to kill me and fre yourself. If you want, I can write it down for you and sign it. I know my words worth nothing to you after I have betrayed to so many times in so many fucking ways.” Enzo replied in a low tone.
“Ariana! Just stay until you get better. If you want, I will never show you my face again. But please, let me help you once.” He begged me again, trying to negotiate with me.
“I won't stay with these greedy two faced people.” I finally answered his questions.
“And I don't want to live with that bitch too. She is the reason why I lost my baby.” I added.
“Valentina and Suzie no longer live there. I found out the truth eventually. I was supposed to be patient until I had the whole truth in front of me. I lost my cool without thinking much and destroyed everything between us. They don't even live in the same city now.” I inhaled sharply. How much I wanted to hear that news when I was living with him. But he was too blind to see all that.
“You don't have to live here. After how your mom betrayed you as well, I can't trust her either. I never would have thought that she was the mastermind all that long.” It was true. And even I failed to see the true colors of my own mother.
“I won't sleep anywhere near you.” I added and he nodded his head.
“I'll set up a separate room for you. You don't have to do anything you don't want to. Just stay here, get treated. I will take care of the rest. And I swear, I will not let anyone harm you.” Once he agreed on my terms, I had no reason to say no to him.
The cancer fucked up everywhere that I had worked so hard for. I didn't want to suffer anymore. I didn't want anymore pain. Tears welled up in my eyes but I hit them as quickly as I could. “Alright! I'll stay until the treatment.” He wasn't the only one selfish. Time had turned me into something like him as well.
“Okay then! Let me take you to the hospital first and get started with the tests. Then we'll go home.” Enzo announced as he stood back up on his feet and offered me his hand. I placed my hand on his hand. Enzo pulled me up on my feet. We hopped into the car and he zoomed away from my mother's villa.
