Chapter 21 My Best friend's father 1🌶️🌶️🌶️

NYRA'S POV

The house was deathly silent as I pushed open the wooden door, the hinges slightly creaking as I stepped inside.

Usually, Dad would be here in the living room, hunched over the desk while signing the usual stack of documents that never seemed to leave his table.

But now? Silence.

My brows furrowed and I walked in, looking around the empty house. Huh. Maybe I should call himㅡ he may have had to go off to the office and didn't know I'd be home early from my job.

Well, not like I was home early. I had been fucking fired from my first job as a barista in a small dainty cafe.

“Where are you?” I muttered under my breath, fingers beginning to fly over my keyboard when I heard something that made me freeze.

A giggle.

My brows shot up and my fingers froze over the keyboard. That was a female's giggle. High-pitched.

My Father wasn't seeing anyone after my mum's death four years ago. Had he suddenly found someone who made him happy?

A smile grew on my face as I trudged up to stairs to his room, my boots softly padding against the floor.

The door to his room was open wide and I grinned, hearing him laugh also at something she had said.

Finally, some good news about today.

I poked my head inside with a grin. “Heyㅡ”

The smile wiped off my face almost immediately at the sight and my father scrambled up in his bed, quickly reaching for his shirt that lay discarded on the floor. My eyes were wide and fixed on the woman who buried her face with the sheets.

“Rose?!” I gasped out, my lips parted in shock at the sight of my best friend in bed. Naked. With my father.

Holy fuck!

I stumbled back at the sight, feeling a part of my heart tear at the sight.

“Nyra, baby…wait, I can explain,” my father quickly said, fingers flying over his zipper to cover himself up properly.

My gaze slid to him and every single feeling of hope I had when I walked up the stairs fizzled out. “You've been screwing my best friend?! When did this start?!”

Rose who's on the bed let's out a heavy sigh and dropped the sheets to her chest, looking conflicted. “Nyraㅡ”

My father fucking raised a hand to silence her. “I can handle it, baby.”

My eyes widened even further and a sarcastic laugh forced it's way up my throat.

Baby?!

His gaze flickered to mine. “Look, we've been together for a few months now and I promise you, I was going to tell you. She wanted to tell you but we weren't sure how you were gonna take it aㅡ”

“Yeah?! Because I'm sure as fuck not understanding that you both have been dating and screwing behind my back for months! You know what?! Fuck this! I can't deal with this right now!” I blew up, turning around on my heels as tears pricked the corner of my eyes.

I could hear my father calling after me. Begging me to wait and listen to them but I don't stop.

I need some air.

The bar was humming with a slow classical music in the background and I was nursing my fifth glass of beer.

Memories razed in my head and I chuckled bitterly. How could they keep something like that from me? How was I supposed to feel about it?

I downed the glass and turned to the man at the bar, a drowsy look in my eyes. “One more shot.”

The man was wiping down a glass, his beady eyes following my every move. He probably thought I had had enough for the day but he didn't know how much I needed to unwindㅡ I lost my job. It felt like the only people I cared about had betrayed me.

The man slid a glass to me and I grabbed it, about to drink when I heard a voice. “Nyra?”

I turned around, almost falling off my chair, but the man steadied me, his grip firm.

My vision swam and I tried to make sense of the familiar face. “Mr AㅡAsher?”

Was that Rose's dad? What was he doing here?

His glasses were perched high on his nose and his face seemed to be more accentuated by the dim lighting. He was staring intensely at me, his gaze seeming to soften at the sight of me. Or was it the alcohol?

“Nyra, what the hell are you doing here? Jesus, you're drunk out of your mind. I'll call your dad and let him kㅡ”

“No!” I gasped before he could reach for his phone. “I don't want to go there.”

His brows furrowed then he bit down on his lip, looking away from me as though he was trying to control himself. “You can come home and stay with Rose. I think she's home…” His hand hooked around my waist, pulling me up.

I stumbled forward, feet tripping over the other as he led me to his car parked outside and he drove home with me.

Once we were in his house, he flicked on the light and helped me to the couch. “Here, have a glass of water,” he muttered, handing me a glass before he looked away again.

I took it from him, taking a large gulp of the water as my stomach churned. “Fuck…” I muttered under my breath as my head pounded and throbbed.

Mr Asher rolled up the sleeves of his shirt. “Rose isn't home. Wait here, I'll go make a call.”

Wow, he seemed way too eager to be rid of me. That's how it always was. He seemed to dread being in the same room as me. Maybe I was too much of a horrible person, I guess. But I knew the look in his eyes said differently.

He stepped out of the living room and I scoffed to myself. Rose wasn't home. Of course, she wasn't. She was probably with my Father again.

My stomach twisted at the thought and I stood up, my knees knocking as I walked through the house, heading somewhere. Anywhere.

Finally, I found myself in front of a room and I pushed it open, staring at the large bed in front of it.

To hell with all of them.

My fingers fumbled with my shirt and I peeled it off, pushing it off my shoulders before I did the same with my skirt too, discarding it to the floor.

Then I hopped on the bed, feeling the mattress sink down under my weight.

Rose had her fun. And maybe I was selfish, foolish and still slightly drunk.

But maybe a little payback wasn't that bad afterall.
