Chapter 491: Edward & Moira 36

Moira's heart raced, but she still stood up and nodded slightly at Edward.

"Mr. York, we met at the terrace of the Night Duke Bar."

Edward nodded, "Sit down, no need to be so formal. My collaboration with your Mr. Reeves is already a done deal, today is just a meal together. What's your name?"

"My name is Edwardina Sanders."

Edward smiled, "Good name, same last name as my former assistant, and quite close to my name too."

Edward looked at Moira, "Ms. Sanders, please have a seat."

Moira said, "I'll go get the waiter to serve the dishes."

Vance said, "No need, we mentioned it before we came in."

Moira remained silent.

Raymond, like a schadenfreude, sat on the side drinking tea.

Moira had no choice but to sit down.

Fortunately, the dishes were served quickly, and Moira ate quietly to avoid awkwardness.

Luckily, Edward spent the rest of the time discussing the project's future development with Raymond.

Moira felt relieved.

Edward drank quite a bit, and Vance drove him away.

Moira drove Raymond home.

Raymond asked, "Why do I feel like Mr. York has something against you? Did you offend him?"

Moira shook her head, "No."

Before getting out of the car, Raymond sighed, "That's good, otherwise, if such a big project is canceled, our company would suffer a huge loss. By the way, Edwardina, Mr. York invited me to play golf this weekend, you should come along."

Before Moira could refuse, Raymond got out of the car, "Don't forget to pick me up tomorrow morning."

Moira remained silent.

In the blink of an eye, it was Sunday.

Raymond took Moira to the golf course.

When they arrived, Edward was playing golf.

Seeing them, he greeted them.

Raymond selected a club from the bucket and joined in.

Moira stood aside watching, Vance smiled and asked, "Ms. Sanders, do you know how to play golf?"

Moira shook her head, "No."

Vance shouted to Edward, "Mr. York, Ms. Sanders doesn't know how to play, why don't you teach her?"

Moira remained silent.

Edward glanced back, his cold eyes full of disdain.

Moira felt relieved, he was dismissive, which was good.

However, the next second she heard Edward say, "Come here."

The tone was undeniable.

Moira had no choice but to walk over, "No need, Mr. York, I..."

Edward stood behind her, encircling her with his arms, holding her hands.

Moira stiffened.

Edward whispered in her ear, "Ms. Sanders, why are you so nervous? Relax. This way we can get a hole-in-one, otherwise, it will take many tries to get the ball in."

Moira suspected he was implying something, but she didn't dare to say anything.

Moira's uncontrollable heartbeat sped up, the feeling of being embraced by Edward made her feel warm, she was infatuated.

But was he treating her as a substitute?

After all, her current identity was Edwardina, not Moira.

Thinking this, she felt a bit lost.

Edward chuckled in her ear, "I'm teaching you how to play golf, and you're distracted?"

Edward's deep voice drilled into her eardrums, Moira shivered, "I'm not."

"Then focus, your clumsy appearance really resembles my former secretary."

Moira's heart ached, feeling very uncomfortable.

Edward asked, "Can you cook? Don't follow Raymond anymore, come to my company as my assistant, I'll pay you two hundred thousand dollars a month, how about that?"

Moira fully understood, he really wanted to treat her as a substitute.

She didn't know whether to be happy or sad.

Happy that he liked her style.

Sad that he wanted another woman.

Moira felt very conflicted, she had previously said she would bless him to find a girlfriend, get married, and have children.

But when it really happened, she found she wasn't as magnanimous as she imagined, and felt extremely sad.

She took a deep breath, "Mr. York, I can't cook, I can only make instant noodles, and I have no intention of leaving my current company. Mr. Reeves treats me very well, I need to repay his kindness."

Edward sneered, "Repay his kindness? Ms. Sanders, you say that so beautifully!"

He didn't make things difficult for her anymore and let her go.

Moira always felt something was off, as if Edward had discovered her identity.

After that, Edward treated her as if she didn't exist, not giving her another glance.

After dinner, Raymond took Moira back to the company.

Life and work went on as usual.

Two weeks later, Raymond called Moira, "Edwardina, distribute the resort tickets to everyone."

Moira sighed, "Mr. Reeves, you are so kind, always giving everyone benefits."

Raymond laughed, "It's not from me, it's from Mr. York. Edwardina, you must go! I see Mr. York treats you quite specially. You are both single, go and connect emotionally."

Moira opened her mouth, wanting to refuse.

Raymond stopped her, "Don't disappoint everyone!"

Moira held a stack of resort tickets and distributed them.

A group of secretaries discussed.

"This resort is super luxurious, and it has hot springs!"

"Since it's from Mr. York, he must be going too."

"Let's dress up nicely, maybe Mr. York will notice us!"

"I heard Mr. York really liked his previous assistant, is that true?"

"Of course not, Mr. York hated that assistant, it's said that assistant stole company stuff and ran away."

"Really? There are all kinds of people!"

Moira looked at the tickets in her hand, frowning slightly.

She didn't want to have any more interactions with Edward.

But the wheels of fate seemed to keep moving forward, not giving her any chance to breathe.

In the blink of an eye, it was the day of the team-building event.

Everyone took a bus to the resort, and as soon as they got off, they started taking pictures with their phones.

Moira took the map handed by the service staff and realized this resort was a hidden gem, not only with hot springs but also a zoo and amusement park, a place for eating, living, and playing.

Raymond looked at the car approaching in the distance, "Mr. York is here."

Moira's heart trembled, looking at the black Maybach that stopped in front of them.

Vance got out of the passenger seat and opened the back door.

Edward's shiny leather shoes hit the ground, then he bent down to get out of the car.

Edward stood there in a well-tailored suit, exuding an aura that attracted everyone's attention.

He smiled at Raymond, "Mr. Reeves, you arrived quite early."

Raymond, "We just got here too."

He looked at Moira, "Edwardina, help Mr. York with his luggage."

Moira remained silent, didn't he have an assistant?

Vance saw this, "I have some things to take care of, please help, Ms. Sanders."

He took Edward's luggage from the trunk and handed it to Moira, gave a smile, and quickly got back into the passenger seat, instructing the driver to leave quickly.

Edward glanced at Moira, "Take me to my room."
