Chapter 488: Edward & Moira 33

Moira had a dream where she was sinking into the depths of the ocean.

She saw Edward swimming towards her, but he couldn't grasp her hand.

She really wanted to cry, feeling so sad.

She felt someone shaking her and suddenly opened her eyes to see a young, stunningly beautiful face.

"You finally woke up?"

Moira's voice was hoarse as she spoke, "Am I still alive?"

Alice smiled and said, "No, you came to heaven. I'm an angel."

Moira stared at her, "You really are an angel, so beautiful."

Alice stopped teasing her and helped her up, "My name is Alice Savoy. My ship passed by and rescued you."

Moira quickly thanked her and held Alice's hand, "Did you rescue a man around fifty years old?"

"Yes, but he has a lung infection and hasn't woken up yet."

Moira asked, "How many days have I been unconscious?"

"Two days."

Seeing Moira trying to get up, Alice pressed her back down, "Although you're awake, your body is very weak. Don't rush to get out of bed. You just had a miscarriage and were soaked in the sea. If you don't recover well, it will be very difficult to conceive in the future."

Moira was pressed back onto the bed by Alice, "Seeing your emotional fluctuations just now, I didn't give you acupuncture. Now I'm going to give you some anti-inflammatory medicine."

"Thank you." Moira looked at her and felt a sense of familiarity, "Have we met before?"

Alice thought, of course, they had met many times.

"No, maybe it's fate."

Moira bit her lip, "I want to call my mom."

Alice nodded and handed her the phone.

After the incident, Moira had Freya take her grandmother and hide, and they changed their phone numbers.

She dialed, and the other side quickly answered.

"Mom."

"Moira! I couldn't reach you for the past two days. I was so scared. How are you?"

"I'm fine, don't worry."

"And your dad?" Freya's voice was anxious. Although she was afraid of hearing bad news, she couldn't help but ask.

Moira sniffed, "Dad is fine. Don't worry."

"That's good, that's good. Your grandmother and I are hiding in the old cabin in the mountains."

Moira cried, "Mom, I'll come to get you in a couple of days."

"Moira, don't cry. I want to talk to your dad."

Moira said, "Dad is asleep. I'll have him contact you when he can. Mom, I have to go now. This is my friend's phone."

"Okay, you take care."

Moira handed the phone back to Alice, "Thank you."

Alice smiled and said, "You're welcome. But did you offend someone? They want you and your father's lives?"

Moira nodded. Maybe it was because Alice saved her, or maybe Alice gave her a sense of closeness, so she didn't hide anything and told her what happened.

Alice raised an eyebrow, "So you exposed the bottom price?"

Moira responded, "I betrayed him. I couldn't not save my father. I could ask him for help, but I couldn't bear the consequences of being discovered."

Alice shook her head, "If you hadn't met me, you and your father would have died. You should have told him about this and figured out a solution together."

Moira sighed, "It's too late to say anything now. He will never forgive me."

"Go back and find him."

Moira said, "He must hate me. I'm not worthy of being his girlfriend."

Alice didn't say anything more, just felt it was a pity that Moira and Edward were separated like this.

"I'll go prepare some food for you."

"Thank you."

Alice went to the kitchen, and after a while, Calvin came in.

Seeing the freshly served shrimp on the kitchen table, he reached out to take one, but Alice slapped his hand, "What are you doing?"

"Can't I eat shrimp?"

"These are for the patient. Your food is over there."

Calvin looked in the direction she pointed, and there was a sandwich on the table.

He pouted, picked up the utensils, and started eating.

His eyes lit up, "Alice, this is delicious!"

"If you like it, eat more. By the way, any news about Alaric?"

"Not yet, but it should be soon."

Alice looked at him, "I've been feeling uneasy lately. If you get any news, tell me immediately."

Calvin's cheeks were puffed with food, "Okay, Alice."

Convention Center.

The government was auctioning a piece of land on Maple Avenue.

Because of the prime location, many companies participated, and the venue was packed.

The government representative gave a presentation and announced the bidding method. The company's name was marked on the distributed cards, and the bottom price was written on them. After statistics, the highest bidder would win.

At this moment, the door of the venue opened.

Edward, dressed in a suit, strode in, followed by Vance.

As a VIP, he sat in the front row.

Max, sitting a few rows back, glared at Edward. The person next to him whispered, "Don't worry, we'll get that land this time. Just bid a little higher than him, and we'll win."

Max sneered, "I didn't expect Edward to recover so quickly. I thought he would be down for a while."

Max's subordinate said, "People like him are heartless and only care about profit. Women are just a dime a dozen."

While they were talking, the cards were distributed, and the company representatives wrote their bottom prices on them.

Soon, the cards were collected, and the staff began to tally them publicly.

Everyone could see the bottom prices of each company on the big screen.

Of course, some were happy, and some were sad.

When the final result appeared, Max's face darkened.

He had bid ten million dollars more than the bottom price Moira had revealed, but Edward had added fifty million dollars more.

The government publicly announced that Edward had won the land.

Edward looked at the second-highest bidder, Morningstar Corporation, and squinted.

He asked in a low voice, "I've never heard of this company before."

Vance replied, "Sunrise Group kicked Max out, and he started Morningstar Corporation."

Edward thought for a moment and gave a look, "He's suspicious. Investigate him."

"Yes."

Everyone came to congratulate Edward, including Max.

Max smiled, "Mr. York, you're so generous. Congratulations on winning the land."

Looking at Max's outstretched hand, Edward just stared at him, and everyone else did the same.

Max awkwardly withdrew his hand and watched as Edward left proudly.

Edward didn't return to the company but went straight home.

He walked into the study, sat in the chair, and looked at the bid document in front of him, rubbing the slightly wrinkled spot caused by tear stains.

If he hadn't been meticulous, he wouldn't have noticed these details.

The only person who could enter his house and guess the password was Moira.

So, she had leaked the bottom price.

She was a corporate spy planted by Max.
