Chapter 487: Edward & Moira 32

Moira put the item back in its original place and left the study.

She changed into her workout clothes, threw on a trench coat, slipped on her sneakers, and grabbed her bag with her documents before leaving the house.

The house she shared with Edward.

Once in the car, she thought back on everything that had happened between her and Edward. She collapsed onto the steering wheel and cried her heart out.

Edward would surely hate her after this.

But she couldn't just stand by and watch her father, who had raised her, die.

"I'm sorry, Edward. I'm so sorry."

She wiped away her tears and drove off.

At the dock, 8 PM, the sky was already dark, but the dock was brightly lit.

Edward was welcoming guests.

Today was Camilla's birthday, and the party was being held on a cruise ship. Many big shots from Loshanda were invited.

Edward glanced at his watch and called Moira. She picked up quickly, "Moira, have you eaten?"

"I had some cake that Letty bought. I'm lying down now. What about you?"

"I'm welcoming guests. We'll be leaving soon. I'll definitely bring you next time."

Moira's car was parked about six hundred feet from the dock. She looked out the window, trying to catch a glimpse of Edward, but she couldn't see anything.

She wiped away a tear, "Sure, bring me next time."

Edward noticed something was off in her voice and frowned, "Moira, have you been crying again?"

Moira couldn't hold back her sobs, "Edward, I'm sorry. I couldn't protect our child."

Edward held back his emotions, "Moira, don't cry. I'll come back right now."

"No!" Moira said, "Edward, it's your mother's birthday today. You can't miss it. I'm fine, really. I'll be okay in a couple of days."

Several people came to greet Edward, and Moira sighed in relief, "You should get back to your guests."

Edward said softly, "I'll come home early tonight to be with you."

Moira didn't refuse, "Okay, I'll make you some ginger tea."

"Silly girl, I won't drink much. Just rest well."

"I know. Bye."

"Okay, you hang up first."

"Alright, bye."

Moira hung up the phone and cried her heart out.

She had thought about asking Edward to help find her father, but she couldn't take the risk. If something went wrong, she would regret it for the rest of her life.

Just then, her phone rang.

She quickly answered, "Hello."

"Do you see that cruise ship? Once it leaves, come to the dock."

"Where's my dad?"

"Don't worry, I'll return him to you."

Moira got out of the car, the cool early autumn breeze blowing through her hair.

Watching the cruise ship sail away, she walked towards the dock.

There were still quite a few people at the dock, but she didn't know who she was supposed to meet.

Moira looked around and saw a man wearing a baseball cap and a mask walking towards her.

As Max passed her, he said, "Follow me."

Moira followed him, one in front of the other, towards the side of the dock.

Max walked down the steps and boarded a speedboat.

Moira was cautious, "What does this mean?"

Max's figure was hidden in the shadows. He smiled, "I'm taking you to see your dad. They're on a ship. Did you bring the stuff?"

Moira said, "Of course."

"Then hurry up. If you're late, your dad will get a beating!"

Moira clenched her phone and, after a moment of hesitation, boarded the speedboat.

Max started the speedboat and headed out to sea.

Fifteen minutes later, the speedboat stopped in front of a ship.

Moira saw Drake being held by two men near the railing and shouted, "Dad, is that you?"

Drake forced his eyes open, "Moira, it's me. I'm sorry for dragging you into this!"

Moira shook her head, "It's my fault, Dad."

She looked at Max, "Let my dad go and take us back to the dock. I'll give you the stuff."

Max sneered, "Since when do you get to threaten us? If you don't hand it over, I'll throw him overboard right now!"

He gestured, and the two men on the ship tied up Drake and pushed him over the edge.

Moira screamed in terror, but fortunately, Drake was still tied to a rope.

Max raised his chin, "Give me the stuff."

Moira had no choice but to take out her phone, "I took a photo."

Max took the phone and looked at the photo. He then handed the phone back to Moira, but just as she was about to take it, Max's mouth twisted into a grin behind his mask, "I'm going to kill you and your dad now. I want Edward to suffer!"

Max threw Moira into the sea, along with the phone.

On the other side, the two men on the ship let go of the rope, and Drake fell into the sea.

Neither of them could swim, and they quickly disappeared into the ocean.

Max signaled, and the speedboat sped away.

At the same time, the ship also sailed away.

Two miles away, Edward stood on the deck, looking out at the sea.

For some reason, he felt very uneasy.

He wanted to call Moira, but just then, Sterling called.

Sterling's voice was anxious, "Edward, Mom fell into the sea!"

Edward couldn't think about anything else and rushed to the scene.

That night, everyone was questioned.

Edward was exhausted. When he got home, it was already noon the next day.

Letty was surprised to see him alone, "Ms. Sanders didn't come back with you?"

Edward frowned, "What did you say?"

Letty was confused, "Didn't you pick up Ms. Sanders to go to the birthday party?"

"When did I pick her up?"

Letty realized something was wrong and quickly grabbed a note from the table, "Look at this."

[Letty, I don't have your phone number, so I'm leaving you a note. Edward picked me up to go to the birthday party. The small cake you bought is in the fridge. I'll eat it when I get back. Thanks.]

Edward took out his phone and called Moira, but her phone was already off.

His first thought was that Moira had left him out of guilt over the miscarriage.

He called Sterling, "Sterling, help me track Moira's whereabouts. When did she leave the house?"

Letty said, "I came back at five-thirty, so Ms. Sanders must have left before then."

Edward said, "Before five-thirty yesterday afternoon. Quickly."

"Edward, are you really in love with Moira?"

Edward said, "Hurry up, understand?"

"Right away!"

Edward sat on the couch, smoking one cigarette after another.

Soon, the ashtray was filled with five or six cigarette butts.

The phone rang on the table, and Edward quickly answered, "Did you find anything?"

"Edward, Moira went to the dock last night and got on a speedboat with a man. After that, she disappeared. I checked her phone records, and the numbers she contacted recently are all disconnected. Edward, do you think she ran away with someone?"

Edward's lips tightened, and he said, "Check all sea, land, and air records for her. I need to find her!"
