A Twist of Fate

A Twist of Fate
The following morning, Alex woke up with guilt filling his heart. He didn't know why he was feeling this guilty, but now he couldn't go back on what he had done. He had to push through with it. Isabella was there now, and now that she was here, he won’t let his guilt consume him.

There was no going back on it now that he had done it. The only solution right now was to get married to her and take her out of the country. Later on, he would find a way to ask for her forgiveness. Or maybe the both of them should forgive themselves in exchange for her cheating with James and him also kidnapping her. They would both have to forgive themselves since they both had something against each other.

He thought to himself as he stood up and immediately freshened up. "I think I should check on Isabella," he thought to himself as he walked out of his room and went to Isabella. He unlocked the door, and immediately he walked in. He saw her sitting down on the bed calmly. She wasn't even crying, and she wasn't even panicking.

He thought that she would have been scared by now about who had kidnapped her and why she was in that room. But he saw her calm expression as he opened the door and walked in. She looked up at him and smiled. No, it was not a joyous smile; it looked like a bitter smile, but he knew that she was not scared.

"Hi Alex," she said to Alex as Alex was becoming scared of her now. Why was she not scared? Why was she acting like nothing happened? Why was she so calm? He thought to himself as he walked up to her.

"Aren't you scared? I thought you'd be scared."

"How did you know before that I was the one that—"

"Yes, Alex, I knew that you were the one that took me, but you don't have to worry. I would not report you to the police. I know that I did you wrong, and I know that my actions are not justified. There is nothing I can do," she said to Alex. "All I can just say right now is for you to forgive me.

I knew that I turned you into the monster that you are today. You love me so dearly, and you give me everything, but what did I do to you in return? I cheated on you with James. I know that if I hadn’t cheated on you with James, our relationship would still be doing fine right now, and you wouldn't have turned into this monster that you actually are. So because of this, I would not fight with you today, Alex.

I would not say anything, and I would not report you to the police. I am not scared, Alex. But I just want to ask you for one favor: Please can you just remove this handcuff? I promise I wouldn't try to escape," she said to him as Alex just stood there dumbfounded.

He didn't know what to say. He didn't know what made Isabella think of all this and why she was so calm. He immediately took the key of the handcuff and unlatched her. She rubbed her wrists, groaning in pain as they were already red.

"I'm really sorry, Isabella, for doing this. I didn't mean to do it. It's just that I loved you too much, and I could not come to terms with the fact that you and James actually have something," he said, tears streaming down from his cheeks as Isabella also started crying.

"No, Alex, you don't have to apologize to me. I know I am the one that made you the way you are now, and I'm really sorry for doing this to you, Alex," she said to him as Alex just immediately walked down, trying to find comfort in her arms as Isabella also held him tightly. Both of them were crying profusely.

Then after a while, Alex wiped his tears before he broke free from the hug. "I'm sorry, Isabella. You can leave already. I would not do this to you anymore. I will not try to force you to be with me anymore. I would not do anything to you. If you want to be with James, just go be with him. You know, you made me realize today that if you truly love someone, you have to let them go. If they want to be with you, they will come back to you. But if they don't, you have to seek to make the person seek out his happiness," he said.

Isabella continued crying. "No, Alex, I'm not running away anymore. I'm not going anywhere now. I just realized that I have to atone for my sins. Let's just get married already." He knew that was what he wanted, and he knew that was why he kidnapped her. "Just let's get married. After we get married, let's leave this place. Let's relocate to somewhere else, somewhere where we'll start our life afresh, where no one knew us before. We will make new friends, start all over again, and live happily," she said to Alex.

As Alex looked at Isabella, he couldn't believe what he was hearing. "What do you mean you're going to marry me? Are you trying to tell me that you are choosing me right now?" he asked as Isabella replied, "Yes, Alex. Let's get married, and let's do it today."

He was overjoyed. He was overwhelmed with happiness that he didn't even know what to say. He just looked at Isabella, stunned. Isabella smiled at him. He hugged her again, feeling so happy. "Thank you very much, Isabella. Thank you for choosing me."

Meanwhile, Alex didn't know what Lily had in store for him. She hadn't even come to check on their progress regarding the kidnapping. He didn't know that she had gone to James's place the next day to inform him about what Alex did to Isabella. This was not actually what they had planned. She actually wanted to implicate Alex so that he would take the blame alone.

She went to James's place and told him that Alex actually kidnapped Isabella and that James had to save her so she would look like a good person in front of him. She went as far as to tell James that it was Alex who had made her poison Isabella the other time. James was stunned and shocked. He looked at Lily, who was standing right in front of him, telling him all this gibberish.
