Chapter 87 Idiot
Easton's tone was harsh, but Cassidy could still sense a hint of concern in his voice.
Cassidy didn't want to deal with Easton. Knowing she couldn't resist him, she closed her eyes, hoping that pretending he wasn't there would help her ignore his presence.
Easton didn't care about her feelings right now. He was focused on applying the ointment to her wounds.
The ointment was cold, and Cassidy instinctively tried to pull away, but Easton held her legs firmly in place.
He sneered, "You think jumping from the second floor is no big deal?"
Cassidy stayed silent.
"Don't be stupid, Cassidy. Even if you jump from the second floor, you won't get away."
She had managed to escape from him once before. There was no way he would let that happen again.
As long as Easton didn't want her to leave, no matter what she did, she couldn't get away.
Cassidy understood the underlying message but still didn't respond or open her eyes.
Was she really going to be trapped here forever?
Easton's fingers brushed against her intimate area as he applied the ointment. The touch was too close, and Cassidy felt her body reacting involuntarily to his movements.
This made Cassidy feel deeply ashamed.
Easton was the man who wanted to imprison her, yet her body was responding to his touch. Was she really that messed up?
Taking a deep breath, Cassidy suddenly pushed herself away from Easton, retreating to the far end of the bed.
"Leave the ointment. I'll do it myself!"
She didn't look at him, not even when she spoke.
Easton's fingers, still smeared with ointment, paused in mid-air as she pulled away.
The room fell silent, so quiet that their breathing was barely audible.
The silence made Cassidy clench her fists. She had rejected him again. Would he be angry? Would he force her again over such a small matter?
Thinking about the things Easton had forced her to do made Cassidy's breathing difficult, and the freshly treated area started to ache again.
Easton seemed to have anticipated her rejection. His expression didn't change; he just stared at Cassidy for a few seconds.
He casually placed the ointment down, wiped his hands clean with a tissue, and stood up.
He tossed the dirty tissue into the trash and spoke with a hint of gentleness in his voice. "Make sure you apply the ointment properly. I'll be back soon."
After Cassidy's supposed death, the Cooper family was in chaos, with everyone vying for power. Easton had been drowning his sorrows in alcohol, neglecting the company's affairs. But now that Cassidy was back, he had a lot to deal with.
Once Easton left, Cassidy slowly opened her eyes.
The master bedroom window was still broken. To prevent her from escaping, Easton had locked the guest room door this time.
Her space was now confined to this small room.
Cassidy looked around. Everything she needed was there, but the freedom she craved was out of reach.
She hugged her knees and curled up at the head of the bed, her gaze falling on the ointment Easton had left behind.
Seeing the ointment reminded Cassidy of Easton applying it to her. The thought of him staring at her intimate area made her feel a mix of emotions.
After a while, Cassidy grabbed the ointment and threw it into the trash.
After everything he had done to her, what good was his belated kindness?
It was just a way to keep her trapped.
The better Easton treated her, the harder it would be for her to leave. It showed how difficult it would be to escape from him.
Thinking about the things Easton had forced her to do made Cassidy angry. She lay down on the bed, trying to hypnotize herself into forgetting his name.
But after a while, she sat up again.
Even if she couldn't leave now, she couldn't just wait for Easton to return as he expected.
She had to use the time while he was gone to find a way to escape.
If she had escaped from Easton once, she could do it again.
With that thought, Cassidy began searching the room for anything useful. To her surprise, she found a phone in the cabinet.
Excited, Cassidy turned on the phone, hoping to call her friend for help.
The phone only had Easton's number saved, clearly left for her to contact him.
Ignoring this, Cassidy dialed her friend's number, but the phone showed no signal.
She couldn't contact anyone except Easton with this phone.
Disappointed, Cassidy laughed bitterly.
She had thought Easton had accidentally left the phone behind, but it was something he had intentionally left.
He liked giving her hope only to crush it.
This was typical of Easton.
Cassidy held the phone, feeling frustrated enough to smash it, but she ended up tossing it onto the bed instead.
She couldn't give Easton any more reasons to punish her.
Easton had left early and gone straight to the company.
After Cassidy's death, the family had to elect a new leader, and Easton's biggest rival was Ryder.
Ryder wanted to become the interim director and tried to buy shares from others. When rejected, he used other means to win them over.
His plan was going smoothly.
Ryder believed he would become the new leader.
Ashton's will had named Cassidy as the successor, so some people supported her. Even after her death, they didn't think Ryder could handle the role and preferred Easton.
But Ryder's supporters outnumbered them.
When Easton arrived at the meeting room, it was filled with arguments over the election. Only Ryder sat quietly.
Seeing Easton enter, Ryder smirked provocatively.
The meaning behind Ryder's smile was clear—He was confident he would get the position.
Easton sneered back, mouthing the word "idiot."
Only Ryder saw Easton's lips move.
Seeing Easton's insult, Ryder clenched his fists, ready to fight him at any moment.
