If Rachel and Scarlett were truly here to apologize, Cassidy might have been more forgiving. But they were just here to stir up trouble after the Cooper family embarrassed the Moore family at the party. Cassidy saw no reason to play nice.

Rachel's face turned dark. She didn't expect that bringing Scarlett to apologize would end up with more humiliation and the engagement getting canceled.
"I don't agree!" Scarlett's sharp voice cut through the tension. "Who are you to cancel my engagement?"
Scarlett's outburst didn't faze Cassidy. She just glanced at Scarlett and smiled. "Miss Moore, I'm the head of the Cooper family."
The head of the family definitely had the right to decide on family marriages.
Scarlett wanted to argue more, but Rachel stopped her. Scarlett had already messed up all her plans. Continuing the conversation would only make things worse.
Rachel stormed off with Scarlett, and Cassidy didn't stop them.
Not long after they left, Declan showed up. "Cassidy, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to eavesdrop."
Cassidy nodded, showing she didn't mind.
Declan looked at Cassidy kindly. "Cassidy, don't worry, you did the right thing. Even though my father is gone, the Cooper family won't be pushed around. We've got your back."
Cassidy didn't really hear Declan; she was still worried about whether Rachel's angry exit would hurt the Cooper family. She had just taken over as head of the family and needed support.
Rachel had been friendly before, and Cassidy hoped for her help. But now, it seemed Rachel might become an enemy, which worried her.
"Cassidy, don't worry, I'll handle this. Scarlett is rude and foolish. Letting her marry into the family would be a disaster. I'll make the Moore family see their mistake and sort this out."
Cassidy caught his last sentence. "You'll handle this? Won't it be a hassle?"
"It's no hassle at all. I'm happy to help you," Declan said gently.
Cassidy sighed in relief. She really didn't want to keep dealing with the Moore family. If Declan was willing to take care of it, she'd be grateful.
They chatted a bit more before parting ways.
Cassidy went back to her room, and when she turned on the lights, she saw someone else there. "Easton?"
