Chapter 119: ALPHA ETHAN’S SPELL

\- LYCAN KING MUTHERAN -

A WEEK LATER

Alicia stood by my side as I settled on the throne of the Wolf King, both my arms wrapped in bandages, a reminder of the battle to cage the beast a week ago.

Frederick Lancaster was on his knees before them, haggard and weak. Haggard and sullen, I took in the room, the atmosphere, the bewilderment in every dire motion and in everyone's eyes.

Then I said, "I believe all the councilmen in the court of the Alpha are here."

I glanced at Alicia. She shook her head immediately.

"Good. Let's get into it, then."

I rose.

"I will be straight to the point," I started, all eyes focused on me. "Your Alpha made me a promise that when I gave him a child, amongst other things, he would allow me to become Wolf King. I did what he asked for, and he returned the favor."

My eyes trailed to Lancaster.

"I should probably add that I am not entirely responsible for his current state. He brought this upon himself. He acted against his will and kept her in the dark about his pledge and his secret child, so she put him in this position and nearly provided her the means."

"You sick son of a bitch!" a handsome man yelled, springing to his feet.

I moved at him in surprise. Everyone was clenching fists and daggering me with their eyes, but none of them dared to stand up and speak. It seemed he did not get the memo, unlike everyone else in the room.

"You brazen asshole. How dare you try to take over the Wolf Kingdom? Do you think we will all just sit down and watch you crown yourself king? Never!"

I stared at him. I studied him from head to toe, then chuckled.

"You are going to fight me? You and what army?"

He flashed his eyes around him. That's when it dawned on him that everyone had their heads down, submitting to me.

"You don't understand, do you, Counselor?"

I started down the center of the court, councilors on my left and my right.

"I rule. My rule is not debatable. I am not asking for permission. The Wolf Kingdom is mine. The Wolf King is at my mercy. The Luna is my daughter, and I have a beast in chains, one that could tear down the entire pack if left to rampage."

I stopped in front of him and looked him in the eyes. The funny thing is that my voice was soft but deep. Yet he was shaking visibly.

"Do you understand now why you should shut the fuck up and just be humble?"

He shook his head.

I patted him lightly on the shoulder and then returned to my throne.

"Alicia."

Alicia dismissed the council upon my orders that everyone should leave me. I was expecting an important guest.

The room cleared out, silence lingering as my companion for only a moment before my spirit guide invaded my mind space without permission, as usual.

"Why isn't he here yet? Didn't you ask for him?" my spirit guide asked.

"He will come. Be patient. If you can't, go hit your head on the wall."

He huffed, finding himself a seat and crossing his legs.

"How is your bonding with Lissa going since she woke up?"

I looked away. It was obvious he was just trying to get on my nerves.

"Is she still attempting to kill you? Like she wanted to many times over last week? That should be an improvement, right?"

"Maybe."

"Perhaps you should try kissing her. It's always had a way of fixing your problems in the past."

I rolled my eyes.

"Look, if you are here to mock me, I strongly suggest you go back to the hole you crawled out of."

A steward announced the guest. His voice cut our conversation short, much to my pleasure.

Alicia entered, a man walking behind her. He had his arms behind his back, lion skin over his shoulders, and the strong scent of a wolf. Alicia bowed and left.

The wolf stood in front of me. He did not bother to bow. He did not bother to pay his respects.

"Martin Mutheran, it has been a while. I thought your insane quest was going to get you killed by now."

His voice resounded across the room like he had been handed a microphone.

"It's nice to see you too."

I rose, attempting to come over to him and shake hands, but his gaze drifted to a different position in the throne room.

"I see you and him are still tagging along."

I paused, turning to the direction he was looking at. My spirit guide was sitting there with his legs crossed.

My brows furrowed.

"You can see him?"

The wolf chuckled.

"I can touch him, in fact. Lycan King Mutheran, just because civilization has come and you werewolves have traded robes and animal skins for shirts and trousers doesn't mean the gifted ones are gone too."

My spirit guide grinned.

"So, what do you want from me, spirit?"

The wolf faced away from me, almost as if he was ignoring me.

"I found the beast. It has been housed by a lowly omega. She is a long-lost descendant of the Junerian tribe. The beast has bonded with her. I need to will it to do whatever I please. You are the only one I know who can teach me how."

"Hmm."

The wolf stroked his chin.

"I'd have to see her to tell what method would work."

They both looked my way.

"Forget it. If you want to figure it out, pity. But you won't get to see her. She deserves privacy at least. Especially after everything that's been done to her."

My spirit guide hissed.

"Here he goes again with his sympathies. He has broken the girl beyond repair, yet he still acts like a saint."

The wolf snapped at my spirit guide, much to my surprise.

"Don't say that. You should be grateful he still has a heart in there, otherwise he would have brought the wrath of the goddess, and that would be the end of you two."

Now it was my turn to grin.

My spirit guide hissed again, turning away from us.

The wolf, who was known by the name Ethan, faced me.

"If I can tame her beast, it will tame her too. I know seeing her would be in your favor. Because if I can tame her beast, I can tame her too. Every now and then, you can make her calm enough to want you, maybe even slowly fall in love with you again."

My eyes widened.
