Chapter 106: Chapter 106
"Alpha," one of my men, tall and lanky came close to ask. "Are we done?"
I smirked, gaze lost in the abyss. "Oh, we are just getting started."
He smiled as he touched my arm, a genuine look across his face.
"Anythng you do, we will support you. I...I will support you. Even to the end of time."
As our eyes locked, heart syncing, I knew who I wanted to spend the rest of my life being by my side as I ruled. A brother like no other.
"Who are you?"
A small smile curled his lips as he replied. "I'm Wikh, Alpha."
I nodded as I turned to face him, shoulders straightened. "Be my Beta, Wikh. Be by my side."
Back to the present, I could feel my heart churn at the memories. It hurt so bad I felt like my chest would combust. Instead, I shut my eyes against those feelings. I did what was right, I guess.
But it was for Daisy. Well, I needed Daisy for the prophecy and Wikh had stood in between.
Asper spoke up. "I saw everything. And I think I understand now."
I shook my head. "It will all happen again." Asper shot his head up to look at me. "If I don't find Daisy on time."
He frowned. "She's missing?"
"Yeah."
"If that's it, then you need to go find her! I'll take care of the pack. You go!"
I blinked as I smiled at him gratefully. "Thank you, Asper." He rose and came to me, slapping a hand on my shoulder.
"You're my friend, Aiden. That's what I'll do for you. Whatever you do, I'll support you." He said.
I nodded before rising to go until his voice stopped me.
"When you're back," I turned to face him, seeing the pity in his eyes. "I hope you understand."
His words drew my brows together as I walked out of the room, confused. I will find Daisy and if everything goes well, I'll be able to find Aaren.
I pushed open the door to the women quarters, the familiar scent of herbs and warm wood hitting me the moment I stepped inside her room. Neena was sitting in the corner, her face half-lit by the flickering candlelight. She looked up as I entered, her sharp eyes locking onto mine, her expression unreadable.
"You're here," she said, her voice tight.
I nodded. "I'm leaving tomorrow," I said simply. "To find Daisy."
Her hand stilled over the fabric she'd been mending. "You already asked Kieran for help," she said, her voice colder now. "Isn't that enough?"
"It's not," I replied, my tone firm but measured. "I can't sit around here while she's out there. She could be hurt,
or worse-
"She is a slave. Since when does what happened to her matter to you?" she snapped, standing abruptly. " Charging out into danger? Putting yourself at risk? For a girl of no value!?"
Her words hung in the air, cutting through the fragile calm I'd tried to maintain. Her anger was palpable, but it wasn't loud. It never was with Neena.
"What do you expect me to do?" I asked, my voice hardening. "Stay here and wait? Pretend everything's fine while she's out there alone? I can't do that. I won't. I'm only telling you because I let you in on the update."
She pressed her lips into a thin line, her chest rising and falling as she glared at me. "And I'm leaving the pack to Asper. Work with him."
For a moment, I thought she was going to scream, but she didn't. Instead, her voice came out cold, brittle, and laced with pain.
"I fucked two men to keep you here," she said. "To stop you from doing something reckless."
The words hit me harder than I expected, but I stayed silent, my jaw tightening.
"And yet, you're still going," she continued, her voice breaking just slightly at the edges.
I didn't know what to say. What could I say?
Instead, I turned, the weight of her words pressing down on my chest as I made my way to the door. My boots felt heavy against the floor, each step louder than the last.
“Goodnight, Neena,” I said quietly, my voice steady, before stepping into the hallway and shutting the door behind me.
The silence that followed was deafening.
Daisy's POV::
Kieran had a surprised look on his face when he heard me.
"Leon?" he asked in disbelief. "How's that- fuck!"
I refrained from screaming as I saw the cut that'd just appeared as a bullet zipped past him.
"Perhaps we should ask questions later, brother?!" Klaus yelled amidst the loud shooting sounds. He'd somehow gotten ahead of us and was now racing towards a building.
Kieran swore, the bullet that'd just grazed his arm most likely causing him a lot of pain. "He's right. Run, Daisy!"
I kept following him, my movements somewhat slower because I was trying to keep up with an experienced wolf. It wasn't too long before I got tired.
Kieran noticed, and against Klaus' protests, slowed for me to try and catch up. But my human strength was no match for his, and I wasn't even athletic. Soon enough, we found ourselves inside an abandoned warehouse.
"I can't believe we're playing nanny for this woman," Klaus spat, stomping off to a corner of the building. Kieran shook his head at his brother's tantrum and faced me.
"Daisy, you said something that really bothered me."
I blinked, pretending for a moment to not know what he was talking about. "What? I did? What's that?”
"You said Leon is responsible for this." His face was blank, but I knew that stare. It was similar to Aiden's contemplating face. "Why would you say that? And have you offended anyone to the point of them wanting to kill
you?"
Shit. I shouldn't have said anything. He was going to interrogate me.
Leon's face appeared in my thoughts for a bit, along with his signatory smirk that reminded me of what he'd planned to do before he'd been interrupted.
He could kill me in a second.
“I-” I turned away from him. “I have no idea what you're talking about. I didn't say anything.”
"Daisy." His voice was firm. "It'd be in the best interest of everyone if you tell me what you know. If it is Le-”
"I must have misspoken." I heard the slight tremor in my voice. "I didn't mean to say anyone's name."
He frowned. "Daisy, you have to speak to me. If there is anyone involved..."
"Why are we wasting our time on her?" Klaus suddenly said from behind me. I turned to see him towering over me, an annoyed look on his face and a tick in his jaw. "There's many more important things to deal with, Kieran. We have-"
“Shut up,” Kieran sighed, rubbing his forehead with three fingers. "You think I'm not aware we have other things to sort out? She's the priority right now, Klaus. And seeing as there's something she knows..." he glanced at me. “ Just hold on. A few more moments."
Klaus was livid. “I can't believe you'd pick the pretty damsel in distress over your duties. We came here for something, and you're ready to throw it all away because some woman isn't willing to give up a name?!"
