Chapter 202: Bonus [2] : Have You Ever Heard of Stapling Your Lips Together?-6

FIFTH HOUR "Are you going to take epidural?" Anmol asked me. "I don't want to." "Are you sure?" "The nurse said you still can if you want. You aren't dilatated to the point where you can't yet." Liz told me. How long does it fricking take to be dilated ten centimetres? "No, it's okay." SIXTH HOUR "Where is he?" I asked but no one answered me. Jesus Christ, someone answer me. "Who's staying with her when the baby starts coming?" I heard someone ask. "I'll stay with her." I heard Caleb say. "I would stay but births are gross so Mace, I'm going to wait in the waiting room," Andrew stated. "Where is Sam?" My voice got louder as I looked around. "I'm not watching my sister give birth." I heard Justin say and could imagine the stupid grimace on his face. "Well, I'm staying." I'm pretty sure Ivan was the one who said that, but I didn't care. "Why would you stay?" Someone asked. "Because she's my sister-in-law." "You could barely stay for the birth of your own daughter." Natasha reminded him. "Where is my husband?" I yelled, and everyone fell silent. Finally. "Um, on the train." "Are you-" I groaned, leaning back, my hands on my face. I was annoyed my water broke in my home. That the bowl full of ice cream fell, making a mess. I was annoyed that I wasn't diluted ten centimetres yet. I was annoyed that not even one of the people who I considered my family were listening to me. I was annoyed that I missed a good episode of my favourite TV show because my child decided they wanted to start preparing to leave the haven that was inside my body but not actually leave when I wanted them to. And now I'm annoyed that my husband wasn't here. "He's going to be here soon," Natasha assured me. SEVENTH HOUR "I can't," I panted, the contractions getting worse. Been getting worse. And closer to each other that I barely had time to take a breath. My hold on Maddy's hand, left me sweating at the last pain. "Do you still want the epidural?" The nurse asked me. I took a deep breath, my previously stubborn mind had told me not to take it but forget it, I would take anything. "Yes, please." EIGHTH HOUR NINTH HOUR TENTH HOUR ELEVENTH HOUR TWELFTH HOUR That was around the time I woke up. I woke up to Sam in a chair next to me. His bright green eyes were looking up at on the screen with Caleb. He had his tie sticking out of his dress pants pocket and his suit jacket was hung over the chair. The first couple buttons of his shirt were unbuttoned, and his hair was tied back. Feeling groggy but filled with more energy, I looked around to see Andrew sitting on the ground next to Caleb, eating a burrito. "Change the channel," Sam said to Caleb. "Decide on one." "Next." He clicked the button, Sam looked. "Next." He clicked the button again, Sam looked. "Next." "You know what?" Despite him being as fed up as I was, I almost snorted. "We're watching the news." I looked at the screen. "That storm looks like it's getting worse." Sam whipped his head towards me so fast, I'm surprised he didn't get whiplash. He sat down in the chair, reaching for my hand. "Hey." "Where the hell were you?" I groaned. "They weren't letting anyone out at the airport, so it took a while to leave and then I found a train to hop onto. Granted that service was very slow but I'm here. The nurses kept coming in to check on you, so you were going in and out of sleep. Are you okay?" "I can't feel my legs. I think I passed out at the numbness." THIRTEENTH HOUR "Where's one of my favourite sisters-in-law?" I heard Toby ask as he entered the room. "Hey, you." "Hey." I smiled at the sight of Tobias and he pressed a kiss to my cheek, placing a flower on the side where Maddy's teddy bear and cards laid. "So, thirteen hours you been here?" "Yeah," I stared at him, in his sweats. "Did you take the jet here?" "I'm not missing you bringing in the newest addition to the family. Plus, I've known you since you were seventeen, it's kind of crazy that you're actually about to give birth right now." "You and me both, dude." "Hey bro." Toby shot his brother a grin. "How are you doing?"
