Chapter 11
Julie POV
Two weeks later
I stood by the van window, holding the envelope tightly in my hand. Today was the day–the day Alex would face the consequences of everything he had done to me. Ordinarily, the court clerk would have delivered the letter, but I refused. I wanted to deliver it myself. I wanted to see the look on his face as his world shattered right before his eyes.
As the police car pulled into the driveway of Alex’s company, I adjusted my coat and arranged my hair.
“Can I hand it to him myself?” I asked the police officer as we stepped out of the car.
“Yes, you can,” he replied with a nod
The moment we entered the building, the receptionist looked at us. She didn’t bother asking questions or even stopping me like she used to she just pointed at the conference room
“He’s in there,” she said, her eyes shifting from me to the police officer.
Perfect. The thought of delivering the news in front of his colleagues only made the moment sweeter.
As we walked down the hall, I reached into my purse and pulled out a red lipstick. I applied it quickly but carefully, brushed my hair back, and straightened my gown. I needed to look the part–the perfect villain in his story.
When I entered the conference room, all eyes turned to me. Alex froze mid–sentence as he saw me, his expression changing the moment he noticed the officer behind me. His colleagues exchanged confused glances, whispering among themselves.
“Julie?” he said.
I smiled as I walked toward him. Without a word, I pulled the envelope from my bag and tossed it nonchalantly onto the table in front
of him.
You’ve been served, Mr. Alex,” I said loudly.
Before he could react, the officer stepped forward.
“Mr. Alex, you have ignored multiple court orders and failed to appear for proceedings. We are here to escort you to court, as you have been charged with assault and battery,” the officer announced as he pulled out a pair of handcuffs
“What? This is insane! What the hell is going on?” he yelled.
“We can talk about this,” he said as the officer cuffed his wrists.
“You have the right to an attorney. Anything you say can and will be used against you in court. Now, please follow us,” the officer
continued.
Alex’s eyes shifted to me. Julie, what the hell is going on?”
I met his gaze with a wide smile. “Judgment day, Alex. It’s judgment time” I put on my sunglasses, hiding the spark of satisfaction in my eyes, and followed them out of the building
In Court
“All rise,” the bailiff called out as the judge entered. Everyone stood, and the room fell silent.
“You may be seated,” the judge said, his voice firm. He adjusted his glasses, glancing at the paperwork in front of him. “This is the case of Alex Reeds, charged with assault and battery. Mr. Reeds, how do you plead?”
Alex’s lawyer stood up. “Not guilty, Your Honor,” he said confidently.
The prosecution presented its case first, detailing the evidence of Alex’s violent outburst during our confrontation and his subsequent refusal to comply with court orders. Pictures were presented as evidence.

Chapter 11
Alex’s lawyer tried to counter, painting him as a stressed businessman who acted out of character. But the evidence was too strong, and the judge seemed unimpressed.
When it was my turn to testify, I stood up and walked to the stand. I spoke about his violent behavior.
When the cross–examination began, Alex’s lawyer tried to trip me up. “Mrs. Julie, isn’t it true that emotions were running high during this confrontation? Couldn’t it be said that you provoked Mr. Reeds?”
I met his gaze, trying to show him that I wasn’t timid.
“Emotions were high, yes. But nothing justifies violence. Nothing
“No more questions, my lord,” the lawyer said as he walked to his seat
Finally, the court proceedings were over, and after some hours of waiting, the judge called the court to order.
“Mr. Alex Reeds,” the judge said, “there is a lot of evidence against you, and you haven’t proven it to be false. You have not only assaulted Mrs. Julie Reed but have also shown blatant disregard for the court by ignoring court orders. This court finds you guilty of not only assault but also contempt of court
I looked at Alex, and it took everything in me not to take a picture of how he looked.
“You are hereby ordered to sign the divorce papers and also sentenced to four years in prison, with the option of paying $10,000,000,” the judge continued. “Court dismissed”
The gavel came down as a symbol of his verdict.
Alex was escorted out of the courtroom as he screamed at me.
“You can’t do this to me!!” he screamed as he was being dragged out
“What about our daughter? Because of you, she won’t have a father by her side!” he shouted.
I walked toward him, controlling the urge not to slap him
“Don’t! Don’t you dare call my daughter’s name,” I said.
“Don’t you dare pretend as if you had our daughter in mind or even cared about how she felt. Because if you really did, you surely would have thought twice about your actions,” I said.
*You really are heartless.” He said.
I leaned closer to his ear as I whispered.
“You made me heartless, and I will surely give your mother a call to tell her about the news. The poor woman might die of a heart attack,” I said with a smile on my face.
Take him away.” I said.
While being dragged, he kept screaming and shouting. I couldn’t help but laugh–revenge really was satisfying
I laughed at his miserable look and brought out my phone as I dialed my private investigator’s number.
Have you
you gotten what I asked for?” I asked.
“Yes, and I will be sending it to you today, the investigator replied.
