Chapter 13: Star
Taehyung drove around the city like he said. Its like he's letting the wild wind dry the tears on your face. You smiled at that thought, he may never do it obviously but he's always finding a way to wipe your tears.
You held on tight to him as he drove past the buildings and under the yellow lights of the street. It's like everyone stopped moving but you two. You felt so free and you understood why Taehyung always had this ride.
Taehyung drives towards the woods and stopped near a cliff. Your hair stood up as you felt the chill of the night air. Taehyung took of his helmet and helped you get down from his motorcycle.
The ground was covered with grass and behind you are tall pine trees, you can also hear the crickets sing in between the silence.
"Your father hit you again?" He asked as you both stood there, looking over the yellow lights of the city that looked like stars in the night sky to you.
"How'd you know?" You ask.
He points to your cheek, "It's swelling."
You touched your cheek and wince when you felt the throbbing pain. "It's getting more often than usual, its just that today, its too much. Maybe I should do their advice, maybe I should move out huh? For their peace of mind and for mine too. What do you think?"
"If that would help you move on from everything. I'll help you find a place to stay." He suggested.
He leaned on his ride while you stood beside him, looking at the lights below you.
"You've been away for weeks, where did you go?" You asked, wondering where he was all this time and why he suddenly showed up at your house.
"I was with my dad. It was a meeting with the other governors of the country. I didn't know it'd take that long." He shrugs.
So Margo was right? He did went on a meeting with his dad.
You turn to look at him, "And why were you at our house? How did you even know our house?" You look at him suspiciously.
"I left you alone the last time we saw each other, I figured that I should check up on you, turns out I was at the right time. As for your other question, that's a secret I won't tell." He said, looking at you too.
"Alright, I'll just consider you a stalker." You tried to make it all lighter.
"Don't try to pull off a happy face. I don't like it. Your weakness annoys me but its better when you don't pretend." He says.
You stared at his face, this man made you feel so much unfamiliar feelings, he made you nervous, he made your stomach feel cold, he made you palms sweat and he made your heart thump but he also made you feel comfort.
Maybe it was his signature, he's giving comfort to you and making it his signature as he put a little harshness to it. But maybe that is what's good about him, he doesn't sugarcoat words, instead he'll offend you a bit with his choices of words then he'd make you feel comfort.
Maybe that's why you never doubted him. You never doubted if he was real and true.
"Y/n, why don't you start to adore the stars more? They're in the darkness and yet they shine still. I'll watch you become like them, Y/n. I'll watch you adore yourself." He said.
You smiled at him, this time it's a genuine one. What he said maybe hard and will take time but if he sees hope for you then you should put your faith in his words. Maybe, you should believe in his words.
He fished for his phone in his pocket and handed it to you, "Save your number in my phone, I'll ring it then you can save mine." He says.
"How can you casually ask for a girl's number?" You chuckled as you put in your number in his phone.
He shrugs, "It's all about the charms." He said then dialed your number.
"Promise me that you'll call me when you need to breathe. Promise me that you'll call me when you cry." He says as he look at your eyes.
In a short period of time, Kim Taehyung became your comfort.
Kim Taehyung did help you on your plans of moving out. He went with you as you try to find a place that you could stay in after leaving your house. He was patient everytime you'd look around on different apartments. He'd tell you his suggestions and if he thinks the apartment is okay.
But in the end, you didn't find an apartment you can stay in. It's always too far from your school, unsafe and doesn't have good maintenance. Soon, you found yourself at the front door of his studio flat.
He said there's a vacant next to his and he wanted to show you the interior of it but the owner wasn't there, so he suggested he could show you his instead.
It was themed black and white, minimalist but with elegance. The flat had its own kitchen, living room and bathroom all in the same room. While just behind the living room is a small spiral stairs that leads to the bedroom that is in an open space too, it's just above the kitchen and the bathroom.
"The interior is the same but I had mine customized for a little bit. I think it was all just wooden before?" He said as you look around.
His flat was clean which you didn't expect since he is a guy but you figured that maybe he had someone that goes here to clean and to keep everything tidy. He stood there in the middle of the room, hands on his waist as you look around.
"And how much is the rent?" You asked him as you look at his picture frames.
"Seven hundred dollars?" He wasn't sure.
What do you expect? Kim Taehyung doesn't pay for his rent because he bought this studio flat unit. He has the money and he doesn't have to rent if he can buy it with his family's money.
"The flat is nice but the price is too high, I can't afford this. I also have to apply for a job to support myself since I'm not sure if they'd give me money." You explained.
He nodded, "Okay, I understand. But if you ever change your mind, the door beside me is still available."
After that day, you became too busy with your school works and maybe Taehyung also did as you never see him on the school grounds roaming around. You never saw each other after that and you hadn't notice it until Nayeon said his name while you walk towards the cafeteria.
"I don't see you with Taehyung anymore, is it because of his girlfriend? She doesn't allow him to be with you anymore?" She asked.
"We're just busy, Nayeon." You said, trying not to roll your eyes. She still believes that lie.
It was still early for lunch but your subject teacher wasn't there so Nayeon decided that you two should go to the cafeteria to eat since you've been starving yourself inside the campus for days now.
The cafeteria wasn't empty though, it had a few students here and there but what made you confuse was the fact that the elite group was there at their usual table on the last subject for the morning class.
You set your books on the table Nayeon chose to sit, she jogs towards the cashier and ordered her food. She turned to look at you and mouthed you words you can't understand.
You stood up and walked towards her but you tripped and fell face first.
