Chapter 26
Leticia freaks out
The Saturday was a pleasant one, and from Leo's reaction, Brenda could tell that he was an easy-going person. She felt that he is a fin person to be with and immediately she felt comfortable with him.
"Oh, I have been dying to live beside a chef and here we are." Brenda who loved to have conversations she opened it up and the young man was all happy to engage in it.
"Yeah, your dream is finally true and you will enjoy my meals as long as we are neighbors. I give you my word." Leo being enthusiastic, he spoke out and she was happy to hear that. Brenda was a slim lady but the ironic thing about her was her foodie nature. She was a lover of food but had no cooking skills. Like it was said before by her friend Ava, she knows no cooking skills, and wasn't seeing herself as someone who could do it.
"I love the aroma from it and you are so neat, Leo. Again, I just want to say thank you for stopping that bully yesterday and for also carrying my weighing bones to my room last night despite the fact that we had met under unpleasant circumstances."
Her apology was honest and based on that, Leo couldn't say no to it. With a smile, he told her not to worry her head over it as she had no intentions of holding that ugly incident that had to take place that day.
"You are a good girl and I know that no matter what must have gone on, your boyfriend had no right to treat you in that manner. You are a lady and he shouldn't...." Leo was still talking when she interrupted him slightly saying,
"He is not my boyfriend and I have no boyfriend at all." Her face showed how disturbed she was with the misconception that he had said bit again, she needed to be certain that the mistake will not be taken farther than that.
Understanding that she was offended, he quickly apologized and changed the topic to something nicer.
The day was a good one and Leticia does not know that she could find so much happiness in the fake life that she what created for herself, she was so amazed when Rowan took her to all the places that were beautiful in the city, which she had no clue they existed.
"These places are beautiful and I will love to come back here someday." Leticia who was caught up in her world of satisfaction, muttered slowly not knowing that she was loud enough for Rowan to hear that.
"We can come back here next if you want that." Rowan was delighted and that could be seen on his face. He was like a kid who was with his favorite person and Leticia not wanting that to be the case, she did her best to avoid that by bringing up professional talks.
"What is going on with you girl? You are on a mission, so it's pointless having such thoughts and feelings towards him, except you wanna be hurt which is going to be so inevitable."
Her head was a mess and she couldn't fathom the idea of him loving her for real. Knowing that she had done everything to get closer to him as his late wife, it was only but normal for her not to have any feelings for him because, the moment he gets to know about her real self and her plans, he might throw her in jail.
Well, she had nothing to lose as long as her dad was going to be fine after his surgery gets successful.
"What are you thinking about? Is anything bothering you Leticia?"
Rowan's Concern for her, made her to feel loved but she had to hold herself back.
"No, I am fine Sir Rowan, I mean Shepherd," Leticia answered faking a smile on her face.
"Call me Rowan, I am happy to know that you feel free with me." He clarified but that was not enough for her. She needed to keep that space between them and didn't want any kind of closeness between them.
"But you are my boss. How can I do that?" She insisted on her question but Rowan let out a deep smile, he said,
"You can call me that. Besides, you are my w......" His words got stuck inside his mouth and he couldn't help but to feel strange about what he was about to say. Waiting for him to say what he had in mind, he wasn't saying it.
Rowan was about to say something but he held back his tongue. It wasn't right and the mere thought of it had evoked so many memories inside of him that made him to want to cry.
"Are you okay Sir? Did I say anything wrong?" She inquired but Rowan gave her a dead stare, he said nothing, and the breeze that blew made, Leticia to feel scared.
"What could he be thinking right now inside his head? Why the sudden silence and the rest stare?" Her heartbeat raced so much that she couldn't breathe well, and wanting to tell him that they should leave from the beach, Rowan, held her right hand, and with so much agony in his voice, he murmured,
"You look so much like her. I could even swear that you are here but unfortunately, you are not her." His words made Leticia to think that her whole scheme had been found out and there could be only one option at that moment left, which is to run say from there quickly.
"There you have it. I did my best and you simply and honestly tell me if it is not tasty, I know my cooking skills so I accept whatever verdict that is given by the chef."
The environment got lifter with Leo trying his best to hold back his laughter. It was so funny that what she had made looked as though it had been done by a two years old kid but he appreciated that she had been transparent enough to tell him that she didn't know how to cook.
"It's okay, I will rate it fairly and there is no issue with you not knowing how to cook. Everything can be learned and so do I teach other people as well. I could give you some classes when I am free you know." Leo felt all happy to have her there, he said and the lady was head over heels for his kindness.
"I will be glad to have a chef as my teacher. At least, no one will bully me anymore for not knowing how to cook, most especially my roommate." With that, they laughed out again together and the next thing they both gave attention to, was the doorbell which indicated that someone was at the door.
"Are you expecting someone?" Brenda instantly asked, but Leo has a skeptical countenance, shook his head in denial and Brenda informed him that she was going to get the door for him while he continued with what he was doing.
Leo thanked her and she left for the door. Reaching there and opening it, there was a beautiful blonde hair lady, standing before his door with incredible red lipstick.
She was so beautiful that Brenda felt intimidated and the short frock which she wore, slightly exposed her thighs, leaving her smooth skin to be visible. Her hair was been held in a bun while her emerald green eyes gave her a ravissante look which was entering her eyes.
"Who are you, and what are you doing in my boyfriend's house?"
The lady who sounded aggressive put the question across to Brenda and the shock that could be discerned on her face was huge. With her eyes going widely opened and her mouth not getting the words to say, Brenda stood at the door as if she had seen a ghost not knowing what her next reaction could be if the blonde said something much more worse than what she had just voiced out.
