Chapter 4 Not Something Valuable
Kevin froze when he saw Preston.
In no time, Sophia, dressed in her pajamas, came out quickly. She looked a bit surprised:
“You’re back? I just sent you a message, I thought…”
“Thought I wasn’t coming back?” Preston's gaze fell on her pajamas, and his face turned dark.
Sophia's face paled slightly, and she bit her lip, explaining softly, “Don’t misunderstand, he is my friend's younger brother, just here to deliver some things.”
"Hello, I'm Kevin, here to deliver the draft to Sister Sophia." Kevin candidly reached out his hand to Preston.
With a dark face, Preston stared down at the young man in front of him, disregarding his hand.
Sophia gave Kevin a glance and he tactfully said, "Sister Sophia, if there's nothing else, I'll leave first."
Once Kevin left, Preston slowly approached Sophia, his face cold enough to freeze a person.
"Miss Welsh really has no loyalty to marriage. I used to think that Alex Zack was useless, but now it seems that he is quite suitable for you."
On the first day of their marriage, she brought another man to their new house.
Such a woman, is she even worthy of being Mrs. Harris?
Sophia lowered her eyes and said softly, "Mr. Harris, I may not be outstanding, but I have always kept myself pure. If I truly wanted to be unfaithful, I wouldn’t be stupid enough to bring someone home.”
“Although I do need this marriage, if you are unwilling to give me even a little trust, then there is no need for this marriage to continue.”
After saying that, Sophia turned and left, going back to her room.
Preston pursed his thin lips, his gaze deep.
So, he had... misunderstood?
He silently changed into slippers, looking around the room, slightly stunned.
The newly refreshed room had a dining table set with warm dishes, a cup of warm water by the tableware, and the once empty kitchen was now filled with various cooking utensils and supplies.
The small, empty room felt like it had the warmth of a home for the first time.
Preston walked to the dining table and quietly tasted the three dishes and one soup Sophia had prepared.
The taste was unexpectedly good.
Unknowingly, Preston finished all the food.
His previously uncomfortable stomach, due to the banquet, was instantly satisfied.
Preston pursed his lips, his cold and deep gaze falling on the locked room door, his brows slightly furrowed.
He quickly called his secretary and said, “Check the corridor surveillance of the Tower tonight, immediately.”
Five minutes later, the secretary sent over a surveillance clip.
Preston clicked it open and found that Kevin had arrived just five minutes before he did...
He had indeed misunderstood her.
He called his secretary again, “I remember there was a set of royal jewelries sent from Europe. Deliver it here by tomorrow morning.”
The secretary was slightly stunned, a bit surprised.
The set of jewelries are priceless, and the CEO never had any women around him. Who was he suddenly sending it to?
However, he pushed aside his doubts and quickly nodded in agreement.
That night, Sophia did not sleep well.
The next day, she woke up a bit late and it seemed that Preston had already gone to work.
However, as soon as she walked to the dining table, she saw a sumptuous breakfast.
There were both Chinese and Western dishes, and next to the breakfast was a delicate gift box with a note underneath it, written in bold, flowing handwriting:
"I'm very sorry about last night."
Sophia was taken aback. She opened the gift box.
A set of dazzling jewels sparkled like crystals, looking incredibly valuable at first glance.
Such a set of jewels certainly wouldn’t come cheap.
His monthly salary was only a few hundred, yet he spent a fortune on a gift to apologize to her?
Thinking of this, Sophia bit her lip and anxiously called Preston.
Half a minute later.
In the conference room of the Harris Corporation building.
Preston's phone rang, breaking the ongoing high-level meeting, and everyone instinctively looked towards the man sitting at the top.
Preston glanced at the caller ID, then pressed the answer button indifferently, “Hello?”
The room fell silent immediately.
Sophia, unaware of his situation, spoke tactfully, “Mr. Harris, I saw the gift you sent. It’s beautiful and surely very expensive, but considering our current income, I can’t accept it. Please return it as soon as possible.”
Preston responded nonchalantly, “It’s nothing valuable. A friend had several sets wholesale, left me one to play with, just keep it.”
The secretary standing nearby couldn’t help but twitch his lips.
European royal jewels, worth enough to buy a small country, were suddenly reduced to wholesale goods?
